Imperator is a good deal because it costs like $55 for all the content on a half decent sale. The game has plenty of interesting mechanics. Integration and administration has some interesting and unique stuff. The only thing is that like all Paradox games it is a modifier stacking engine.

Also moving slaves around is hell. They really needed to bulk up that interface to be easier. Then again I guess no one expected a player to move 5000 slave pops from Spain and the Levant and all the closer areas to Poland/Lithuania.

There is a total conversion in works called Imperatrix:Victoria that tries to transform Imperator into Victoria II style game.

There's a snowballs chance in hell these total conversions see the finish line (and an even smaller chance they turn out to be good). But one always has to admire the autism/enthusiasm involved.

At this point it seems that every single paradox game has a vicky mod in the works somewhere, there is : https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2453195387 for CK3, https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2114093692 for HOI4, and of course either MEIOU or https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2504983048edit=true&id=2504983048 for victoria mechanics or extended timelines for the timeperiod in EU4 (or the Albert mod for better implementation of that time period, even if it hasn't been updated in a long while).

Honestly at this point Paradox should be afraid of how their own implementation will compare to all these "vicky in another PDX game" mods.

It turns out that this was a better game than Crusader Kings 3 or Victoria 3 are or likely ever are going to be. A real shame that the modding scene for it is completely dead and the development halted.

What is it with modders and their lemming-like drive to waste hundreds of hours turning one game into the other and vice versa. Just, idk, play the game you like or something.
On occasion such attempt might get finished and if one do get finished, in theory, it might end up decent. Maybe. Not saying it is the case here.
Some people like doing this stuff. Call it autism or whatever, it is their game and their time. Better than playing bad games if you ask me. Of curse if they like modding so much it would be more productive to make actual, useful, original, you know, MODS for a game they like. Or patches for Troika's games. Or even tranny dwarfs' fortress simulations. But autists gonna autist. That's why we need a lot of them, 99 out of 100 waste their time but 1 of 100 can make something amazing.

On the flipside, if a game is already good/great, you feel little need to "improve" it. I can understand this feeling. Games that I've wanted to mod tend to fall into the "wasted potential" category, where it isn't great as is, but you can see there was something there the developers neglected, or it is set in a world you think could have been done better, etc.

Games that do the GSG thing in Imperator's setting are basically... nonexistent, so it makes sense to want to save it. Personally though the gameplay fundamentals are just too broken for me to want to rescue it, which isn't really moddable without exec hacking.

I've been wanting to play this game for a long time, even tried to get it working on my ol' Warmachine Thinkpad T430 but nah (funny, I can make CKIII work on it with the integrated graphics mod). Yesterday I brought a bunch of games for cheap in the Steam Summer Sale, because of a recent worrying dollar price hike. One of these was Imperator, which is actually pretty cheap with the summer sale. Will take a look at it soon, first with vanilla of course.

All Paradox games except Stellaris, but including CK3, HOI4 and Imperator, work perfectly well on my 10 years old Thinkpad.

Anyway, are there any decent mods that give more flesh to civilizations other than Rome, and possibly make the starting year earlier? Back when I played the game, the only thing that had any proper content was Rome. I'd like to play as something EEF, possibly Minoans, Etrurians, Nuragics, Punics - but Mycenaeans are also acceptable.

Which Thinkpad model?
Imperator was the only one which I couldn't, even idle the temps were too high.
HOI4 worked ok but not for the long haul.
I could get Stellaris working on my T430 actually, you just need to download performance enhancement mods.
