So inxile holiday party will be playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle™ together?

So, that is what working in an office is like; LARPING and bullshitting. And they complain about hours and pay? I knew I should have stayed with accounting. If only I knew computers would be the way.

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Serpent in the Staglands Bubbles In Memoria A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
They're ostensibly working on Clockwork Revolution.

It's truly comical how both InXile and Obsidian would have been perfectly positioned to capitalize on BG3 audience if they just continued making Wasteland/Pillars and improved the production values with all that Billy G money.

Instead they decided to make some half-baked AA slop that will get buried within a day after launch and both studios will probably end up shitcanned.

The real issue is that the new "snail's pace, zero urgency" approach to game development the industry has pivoted to to answer all of the classic criticisms (buggy, unfinished releases, traumatized employees, etc) also mean there is no real way to pivot based on unexpected market developments.

Also, what was popular 5-10 years ago is no longer popular by the time you release your product.

So Jason Anderson (if he's still at inXile) is going to try his chances with Arcanum 2? Now that actiblob is owned by Microsoft, the IP is accessible to them so it makes sense.

Btw does anyone remember a post from Tim Cain here in the codex (probably in the Underrail topic) where he mentioned that their new project in Obsidian would be almost as good Underrail / Arcanum in terms of interaction with the game world? I'm trying to find it, but I think he deleted his post / removed all comments or something like that. Infinitron maybe?

Anyway that project turned out to be TOW, so I have zero trust in the old farts of Troika.

No there has to be a secret, a code, something to build our hopes just to be crashed with reality . . .
:dealwithit:

Or you're right. Whatever. Also am I going senile, or did Tim Cain actually remove all his posts from Codex?

How much info on Clockwork Revolution do we even have? Any transparency with the project or are they all just circle jerking to tweets/Xs and making short corny vids listening to BT4 orchestral music while buying more memories off of ebay?

Time to go tubing I guess....

"Time-bending, Steampunk, SHOOTER!"

So, an Arcanum 2 would be vastly different. Seems clockwork goes the way of Fallout 3 eh?

We play as a woman? A black woman? Bleck! :?

If inXile's employees had any particular affinity for classic crpgs, Wasteland 2, Tides, and Bard's Tale IV would have turned out better than they did. This is what they really want to do. Once Fargo retires, I doubt they'll ever want to revisit a crpg again.
