Honestly I think they are pretty bad. I've only played the first one and that was pretty shit. The only gameplay there is is shooting and that shit sucks. Boring levels, boring linear progression, guns are all pretty much the same and upgrades are just do more dmg and story is nothing to write about.

If you are interested just watch some youtube playthrough and/or rule 34 porn.

So one of the three major alien races are literally just blue-haired-skinned space sluts who spend their whole time FUCKING everyone they meet to "enrich" their mentality or whatever?

Is that Gaydar being an autogynephilic self-insert faggot again?

no its not worth it. the only game worth playing for the first time in 2024 is the 1977 blockbuster hit ZORK I
Zork I: The Great Underground Empire was released in 1980, developed from a non-commercial predecessor, parts of which are found in each of the three commercial releases in the Zork trilogy.

You guys are being harsh. Yes, combat is a lot of shooting. That's what happens in anything set later than late Renaissance equivalent. That doesn't mean it's boring though. Certainly not if you play as a skill heavy class like the Engineer, Sentinel, or Vanguard. The skills in ME1 are well designed (useful), succinct (no bloat), have good advancement, and stay useful the entire game. My Sentinel could walk into a room and drop spell-like abilities in a way that would make a D&D wizard envious. ME2 went the wrong route by streamlining too many abilities and reducing the volume of abilities character had, but they did tighten up the shooting which before felt a bit clunky. Weapon selection also got better. Furthermore, while the range of abilities was reduced in ME2, they could be used much more frequently. I takes much less time for your intended playstyle to mature in ME2 and ME3. My sentinel could still charge around like a Jedi or space-wizard. ME3 had a slight return to form for some of the abilities, but is still much closer to ME2.

ME1's environments can be bland, but I still liked exploring planets. The Mako vehicle is hilariously and sometimes frustratingly unwieldy but the goofiness is part of the fun. The Mako was abandoned in ME2 but vehicles returned with improvements in ME3. One of the worst aspects of ME2 is planet scanning for resources, rather than surface exploration of ME1. There are mods which do away with this, and I recommend that. Some other sins are loading times, but these should be a non-issue for modern machines.

The story is fun, especially in ME1. In general I liked the quests and interacting with the well created NPCs (joinable and otherwise) is fun. ME2 over-emphasized NPC interactions, but they're undeniably polished. The casts are great and there are very few games out there which can do the "cinematic experience" quite like ME2. It's popcorn entertainment, but that's OK. The story for ME2 is functionally a rehash for ME1 but with bugs and moral ambiguity instead of robots and heroism. They're both still fun. In ME3 the story falls apart with failures at high concepts and not respecting earlier lore. NPC fatigue starts to come in at this point not only for the players but obviously the writers. The combat improvements in ME3 over ME2 are entertaining enough to carry you though to the lousy end though. Don't puss out. Play the games. At least ME1. If you do though, you're going to want to play all 3.

Asari are parasitic space witches and they can breed with anything with their mind. They prefer to do it with other races though, otherwise their children have a chance to become inbreds with a nasty genetic condition that makes them unable to procreate because they kill their mate.

Just a little fyi.

I'm sure if Gaider had such creative freedom he would have made them all fat bald males like him procreating through sucking each others dicks.

First one is pretty decent, second one is worst slop[everything, including gameplay is even more simplified], and third one at least redeem itself with more cinematic experience. I would definitely play first, although many sci-fi tropes you most likely already seen in other media and literature. The graphics were never a strong point of the series and even remastered edition looks just bad.

I think I'm starting to enjoy the gameplay. Just finished a mission on some random asteroid that just happened to be two hours away from colliding into a colony of five million people. Isn't it lucky for those people that I decided to stop my ship there for no reason.

With some upgrades and level-ups the combat got easier, so I cranked it up to Hardcore. Still not sure if Vanguard was the best class, but oh well, not playing through all that again.

Vanguard was the most op broken thing in Mass Effect, where you could barrier up anytime, and thus, nothing could touch you. While you also have some impressive adept offensive stuff and could one shot a ton of dudes and dudettes.

Vanguard is also the most satisfying way to play the game. Do you really want to hide behind cover for the entire series or do you want to teleport slam into aliens and shotgun them in the face?

Depends on the difficulty. But i like soldier for adrenaline (bullet time) ability in ME2\3 :)

Vanguard is pretty good in ME1, awesome in 2 and broken in 3. It is the only class in 2/3 that subverts the popamole gameplay.

Both.

In ME3 they added a power called Nova that depletes your barriers to make a small explosion. The problem is that it grants you invulnerability for the whole animation, so if you get your Charge cooldown timer low enough you, which is easy to do, you can Charge an enemy to refill your barriers as soon as the Nova animation ends. Safely repeat the Nova -> Charge loop until everything is dead.

I like ME1 combat foe it's silliness. Sending Krogans flying across the room or in the air with bionics which aren't stopped by shields.

Or, how I played with Infiltrator, just running around quickscoping noobs with incendiary rounds making everyone explode

What gun am I supposed to use on Kayden? My Vanguard Shepard is making good use of the pistol (I am eviscerating most enemies on Insane difficulty), and Garrus is on the assault rifle, but what's best for the tech guy?

It doesn't matter, he can't specialize in any weapons cause of his class

Well, is it? I am considering giving it a try, but is it worth the effort? If yes, then just the first one, or all three? Obviously, not even considering Androgyny.
Yes the whole trilogy is definitely worth it, install some mods and you will have a great time as you experience the grand narrative that connects the 3 games
