Any updates planned in future for death anims (rooftop kill, head explosion etc) to make them look as they suppose to with lobot sprites? So far it's the only thing that annoys me.

Yes it is. Played with it twice. It's good shit.

I take the modpack from here usually https://jenkins.maeyanie.com/job/JA2 SCI/

But it appears there was no change to

Death anims will look unfinished.

XML tweak (by gashtek) for LOBOT for use with SDO mod from 7609en modpack.

Doesn't add new animations, but instead makes sure all possible LOBOT equipment and combinations will be visible on enemy/militia during different parts of the game, also adds some consistency to enemy/militia outfits.

Some pictures:

Also when using with latest +AI, you can see LBE gear on enemy and militia, also when merc or soldier has high camo level, instead of using camo palette for full picture of soldier, only open skin parts will change color, which also adds for visual variety:

Installation: when used together with 7609en modpack, just unpack mod into Data-SDO, replacing original xml files, or into Data-User (in this case other mods in modpack may work incorrectly as this folder is applied to all mods and this visual pack is designed for SDO only).

So I tried your 7609en modpack +AI, I want to add a few comments about it.

First, the build runs extremely smoothly, much better in fact than the base game on W10. I don't know if it's the mods you plugged into or your tweaks but it runs absolutely perfectly, I had no issue whatsoever despite stressing the game on many occasions.

Second, the AI mod you added to the game is mostly good, I underlined "mostly" because sometimes the AI does stupid things like running into the enemy and shoot even though it has low AP. Some other times, it can flank you or use grenades forcing you to flee. Also I believe the AI should retreat at some point when an alliance of factors merge together: low morale + low HP + team squad getting hurt badly. All in all it's a good AI mod but it can still be improved.

Thirdly, the new CtH is SHIT. Here I say it, it makes no sense to miss 3 shots in the row (happened many times) when the target is 3 tiles from the shooter. Either the calcul ratio needs to be redone or I simply advise anyone to return to old CtH because it is just much better all around. I know it can be tweaked but I stand firm to my critics.

Fourthly, the new QOL features are great, especially the all reload feature among any other.

Conclusion: Play 7609en with old CtH.

NCTH is indeed terrible for low level mercs, later on with proper weapons they will be killing machines. SDO nerf it, so thats probably why you had issues. The best NCTH that feels real given the distances was with AIMNAS mod, but unfortunately the mod won't be ever finished.

Modpack comes with cnc-ddraw dll fix which is great to run old games on modern systems.
I agree +ai is far from perfect, it's just better than original :)
They can also do some dirty tricks like blow up roof right above your merc hiding in closet.
Also ai is not meant to always choose best decisions, some enemies are smart and some stupid, some brave and some cowards, this is from original game.
NCTH is much better with SDO mod, also there are options in +ai to make hitting easier at close range or using iron sights, they are disabled by default as they may unbalance later game.
Enemy group retreat is something planned but not implemented yet.
