Yeah, it's the worst thing about these "franchise reboots". It practically erases the cultural significance of the original game.

Not sure if this video has been posted yet, but it reveals some more info about the map sectors, the merc recruitment system, and the UI in general. Oh yeah, and the merc portraits are every bit as horrible as expected.

edit: found a superior merc portraits screenshot
edit2: and a side-by-side comparison with the original portraits

Shadow looks like a sick bum. Those portraits really show what game they are making a.i. worthless piece of shit. Not even a background, seriously?

I'd be first to bash JA2 but maaan, this is just

And its kinda sad too. Imagine if the dudes wanted it to be turnbased but the publisher just laughed when they said "turn..." *door slam*

Oh fuck. There's just about no effort gone into those. They look alike and they look truly horrible. Shadow? What the fuck have they done to you? Dr Q looks anything but asian, and don't they know Magic is black? Oh man.

Also, notice how that's supposed to be the A.I.M. site. Compare it to the original:

It's incredible how they manage to make everything about this game completely lifeless and without any personality whatsoever. It must be some kind of a talent to pull shit like this off.

Hot damn, these merc pic are so full of fail.
But, that's what you get when you try to use 2 identical meshes for 45 people.

hahaohwow

Half of them look the same. Danny and Grizzly are exactly the same. The rest of them have the same face with different hairstyles and facial hair. It's like a game where you customize the PC's appearance except here you're limited to selecting options like "combover" and "handlebar mustache". Hell, New Vegas had more hairstyle and facial hair variety.

Stephen and Steroid are now the same person.

Magic and Len are now white guys.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY DOING?!

they are taking out the personality of the game. Those portraits are awful.

and did they put (a completely different looking) Biff on A.I.M?

The strategic map and gameplay look at least decent (it seems).

it will probably will be decent but won't be as good as JA2 and it simply doesn't seem as much fun

What do you mean? I cannot get all those little "look the same" and "now whites" nuances.

To me all portraits look like some faggy 3D shit art for fags. :decline:

But the originals don't cease to exist. If people think that way, then perhaps the significance of the originals wasn't that big to begin with? If anything, the release of a new game in a series makes people give more attention to an otherwise dead franchise, even if that attention goes mainly to the newest title.

Lovely... just freakin' lovely. Resume of the previous 12 pages on this one.

And I've deleted the info-mail from my inbox a few days ago, thought it wasn't worth any attention. Man, was I wrong...

They just don't have creativity to come up with new IPs.
