So it's We Happy Few in Space with Robots!
Yes, there is some resemblance, I think We Happy Few was also influenced by Bio Infinite's DLCs a little, and Bio in general perhaps, so it's a cycle.

I really like the art and the production values seem solid given their team size which is a fraction of Obsidian's. Well to be fair this has been in development since at least 2015.

Will probably check it

Ok, so I guess that's going to be controversial spicy bit for this game, Levine will very slightly criticize the pandemic psychosis, with the most gentle kiddy gloves possible, and it will nevertheless create a huge shitstorm. Let the games begin.

C'mon, both Bioshock 4 and Judas will at the very least provide serious entertainment value.
Both had development restarted repeatedly because the prototypes were such shitty shit, both are probably getting rushed out to deliver something, both have massive expectations put upon them.
When that shit finally comes out... What can I say...Shit's gonna be fire.

Ken Levine will never be rushed. He will deliver Perfection as he sees it.

I had no interest in Bioshock Infinite whatosever but I'm digging the vibe here.

Honestly Roguey I'm not convinced.

I think there's gonna be too much social commentary that's just too eyerolling and cringe inducing to enjoy it properly.

I mean honestly there's no part of me that's excited for this. Whereas Bioshock was interesting etc. this does nothing for me.

This will probably just be an inferior version of System Shock 2, like everything Levine has worked on in the last quarter century, but to steelman here: Judas could be a worthwhile game, if 'narrative legos' is code for 'dredging up every level and concept that Levine has worked on then then randomly abandoned for the past ten years'. I think the Bioshock Infinite team had nearly two full games of unused content because the guy kept changing his mind? If they did this, then they'd have a game with a solid variety of levels that'd often differ wildly in tone and presentation. In the best case scenario Judas would thus have real Choice and Consequence with a fair degree of replayability. And even if Judas is trash, I don't really expect that much 'SJW' stuff because Levine seems to think of himself as an enlightened moderate, given how his last two titles explore the dangers of political extremism (or at least attempt to).

Both Freedom Force games are goddamn masterpieces (they're his best games), and they have nothing to do with SS2.
Fair enough, capeshit isn't really on my radar and I see he's worked on a few other things. Then confine the comment Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite.

My first thought was that this looks visually extremely cheap and derivative. The trailer is also poorly constructed with sound mixing issues, bad writing and lackluster editing.

Can't yet really say anything about the gameplay based on this.

I could understand not liking the art direction but those animations and particle effects look far from cheap. I think they nailed the slightly stylish look like Atomic Heart and The Invincible

Ken Levine, creator of the BioShock series, unpacks how Judas will be an experience where players influence how relationships and the story unfold.

Ken Levine Creative Director, Ghost Story Games

Characters have always been the driving force in every game we’ve ever made*. Whether fighting beneath the ocean to assassinate Andrew Ryan or escaping a city in the sky with Elizabeth, these personalities have always been at the heart of our stories. But what if you could choose between who to befriend and who to stab in the back?

With Judas (coming to PS5), we wanted to craft an experience where these decisions and how the story unfolds is up to you. Because you, as Judas, are the driver of every event in a story with a new cast of characters to get to know — and change — in ways you haven’t experienced before in our games.

In Judas, we give you a whole new world to explore: the corridors of the Mayflower, a spacefaring city whose citizens are trained to spy on one another and tear each other apart for the slightest offense. Where machines control every aspect of business, art, and government. The ship’s leaders tried to turn you into something you’re not: a model citizen. And you sparked a devastating revolution to tear it all down.

Do you want to fix what you broke or leave it all to burn? That’s a decision only you can make.

Didn't he also work on SWAT 4? Arguably Irrational's best game, Freedom Force is nice, but needs more than one campaign and random deathmatches.

A cartoonishly binary moral choice that ends up having no real impact? Where have I seen that before?
