Robert Swigart's doing a remake of the 1986 game Portal.

Rob Swigart will serve as Executive Producer with Producers Guild of America member Andy Hoffman managing the project, Eric Dieter overseeing the creative vision and design, and composer Joel Steudler providing music.

News about the Ogre table top game. First, it looks like they will, eventually, be able to ship it internationally. However, what was a hefty game has become even heftier, thanks to a whole lot of bonus goals being hit. So it probably will cost a lot. Still, people from outside of the US will be able to pledge and get the game.
There's still 16 days to go, I'll wait for further news before pledging...but still, even if they ask for $50 for shipping it will be a good deal.

Yeah, calling bullshit on 9000,000 for a graphic adventure game. Something seems too..... odd about his. Also the trademark of Portal for use as a video game is owned by Valve (I just checked the US copyright). My (limited) knowledge of trademark for video games goes that once you trademark a name, it then goes to DEAD status after a number of years. If it is not re-newed then others can buy the rights (like Valve did). Valve only own the RIGHT to use the name Portal for a video game. Which these people cannot use without Valve's permission.
Thanks for the infos, I have added it to the list. in orange for now, it really seems that someone seeing all those millions floating around is getting ideas.

Agreed. 100%.

This is 1 of many I suspect that is yet to come... And this projects funding amount is way too unrealistic. IMHO.

It's funny how all of these oldies are filing out of the woodwork lately. Some with their fans (Jane Jensen, Shadowrun guy) and some without (Portal guy).

I personally have never heard of this game and have no idea who the guy in the video is. He either is greatly overestimating his popularity or is just nuts.

Some bonus info for the left-handed card game serpent's tongue:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/500894669/serpents-tongue-a-new-magick-experience

#1: The rules are online now @ http://www.becomemagi.com/rules-comprehensive/
#2: I sent them a message some time back inquiring about overseas shipping. They're trying to arrange a german drop-off point to ship from, which should reduce shipping costs and also customs charges since it'll be sent from an EU country.
#3: In the same response, I was promised that they were hard at work filming a video of people playing the game to give everyone a feel for what it's like, though AFAIK it has yet to materialize
#4: Obligatory boardgamegeek link: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/123408/serpents-tongue

This RTS Sword of Justice looks pretty damn sweet, too bad I'm bankrupt, and they ask 25$ for the full game. Hope kickstarter projects stay on the 15$ tier - for a full game, as I don't like these price increases at all. :( I know, they have a lot to show, but still...

The guys behind the Space Quest series are going to do a (presumably Kick Starter) and new Space like classic Adventure Game.
They stated in their recent podcast-interview thing that they will indeed be doing a Kickstarter, but that they're going to wait a little while before launching.

Some surreal games, already funded:
Blink: A surreal first-person gaming experience a game crafted with an innovative formula of platforming, puzzles, and mystery. In a surreal world that is both beautiful and lifeless

TRIP - AN ABSTRACT SURREAL EXPLORATION EXPERIENCE is a spiritual successor to a game created last year titled "THAT".
If you want to get a feel for what TRIP is going to be like, you should download THAT and give it a shot! TRIP will be expanding on the concept I started with "THAT" and will further develop it.

Chester: The Hand-Drawn/8-Bit/LCD/Blueprint/etc. platformer! One of the biggest things that makes Chester stand out is the fact that almost the entire game is painstakingly hand-drawn, scanned in, colored, and then added to the game. The OTHER big thing that will make Chester stand out is a little thing I like to call "Styles." As you play the game, you unlock styles that allow you to change the look of every level in the game whenever you feel like it. This way, the same level can look like a hand-drawn game, a series of Blueprints, and 8-bit throwback, an LCD handheld, and more.

Make the Codex Great Again!
Robert Swigart's doing a remake of the 1986 game Portal. They're asking for $900K though. I've heard of the game, but beyond what I saw on Mobygames, I don't know much else about it. Anyone here played it before?

900,000$... for a game? I think they are shooting way too high on that one. Also they can't get their facts straight as Jane Jenson's KS project is not yet fully funded (in the list of successful funded games).

Also how can they use that name for a video game. Doesn't Valve own it? I'm going to call shenanigan and and just sit here and watch.

They mentioned in the FAQ that they're calling it something else other than Portal to avoid infringing on trademarks. I'm not backing this though. As sgc_meltdown pointed out, the crew don't have extensive or glowing track records, and I'm not convinced by their KS page that this is something I'd want to put money down on.

You guys owe poor Zoldan a lot of excuses, let me present you a Game Design student that wants 300K$ to hire other students to make a game that could challenge AAA+ titles, at the moment he doesn't even have the story ready:

Brown as it gets.
I glanced at that kickstarter and was very surprised to see that it had already raised 56000 dollars. However, looking closer it turned out that the sum was actually $56.
