Kz3r0, I think you should add [JRPG] and [MMO] tags to the games in the OP, so people could determine faster which ones to not give a shit about.

Of which there are two each, besides, is clearly indicated in the name or the description of the project
These are the games I am considering iffy:

RPGs

[JRPG]Cold Fusion Secular Equilibrium
[MMO]Storybricks, the MMORPG storytelling toolset
[JRPG]Boot Hill Heroes
[JRPG]Kitaru
[MMO]Realm Explorer

Space Simulators

[day-one DLC]SKYJACKER

SHOOTERS

[MP-only][Steam-only]Ravaged

I'm not saying to outright color them orange. although that is what I would do. Also, coloring them orange wouldn't do it because, if they get funded and moved to green. people would forget about their drawbacks. Moreover, the "MP-only" thing, for example, may be a + for some but a - for others. A good example of this is Starlight Inception, which is kinda iffy because of the day-one DLC issue that has been raised some time ago but that is now in the green and people are going to forget to be watchfull of it because of that.

[JRPG]Cold Fusion Secular Equilibrium
Seems an interesting project to me, the fact that is made with RPGMaker doesn't disqualify it in my opinion, I will add Jrpg at the beginning of the description if it irks you so much.

[MMO]Storybricks, the MMORPG storytelling toolset
Was added because MCA endorsed it, the wisdom of the god emperor is unquestionable, and there is MMO right in the title, a tag is redundant.

[JRPG]Boot Hill Heroes
Crooked Bee signaled it, and being signaled by a staff member is one of the requirements to be in the list, besides, Bee brought more old school RPG incline here than 90% of the posters, and this is one of the few similar projects that has something to show, I will just add the Jrpg at the beginning of the description.

[JRPG]Kitaru
Signaled by Jaesun, I will put JRPG at the beginning of the description.

[MMO]Realm Explorer
Signaled by ZED, and has MMO right at the beginning of the description.

[day-one DLC]SKYJACKER
Didn't notice that, I will add it to the description, even if it's one of the few project that comes with a demo.

[MP-only][Steam-only]Ravaged
We have a Codex steam group, this is why I added it, steam is negative when comes with a 'DRM free' description, when the game is explicitly made for steam there are no reasons to complain.

All in all what you are asking for is clearly said in the description, more than tags dedicated sections would be better, the problem is that until the number of games doesn't increase is quite redundant.

I was thinking to left the orange color even if the project got funded, in fact Starlight Inception maintained that color for a while, I passed it into the green for two reasons, one being that they scrapped the day1 DLC after their backers complained, the other was that after my discussion with the developer people could think that the color was due to petty personal reasons.

I don't think it matters who endorses or signals what game. Some might like a certain type of game, some may not. Not everybody will like everything. That's exactly the reason I think tags would be a good idea: to help people quickly filter the information according to their preferences. As for having this kind of information in the description, it's not the same thing as having tags. The tags are much faster to use when quickly scanning through the list, especially given that the list is already getting big and it will keep getting bigger as time progresses.

Added a JRPG and a MMORPG sub section to RPGs.
On line shooters for now remain in the Shooters section, considering that they comprise half of it.

Please add a [Funded] tag for Republique in the OP, like the one for Takedown. Thanks.
That is to put at eternal shame Notch, I thought that the color code was easily understandable, if links are not in a clear color it means that the project is still running or got funded.

Edit:
Added the color code for the Lulz & Boycott section.

One thing just crossed my mind, what about the guys that developed Darklands?

let's see where the project leader and original concept guy is now!

http://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,978/

From 1998 Arnold was Sr. Producer at Kesmai Studios, which was acquired by EA in 2000. When EA closed Kesmai in 2001, the studio was reconstituted as Castle Hill Studios. Arnold remained with them through 2003.

From 2005 to 2009 Arnold was a program manager (equivalent to Sr. Producer) at Forterra Systems, an MMO "serious games" company and platform provider.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forterra_Systems
ah, by serious games they mean employee training corporate applications

I really don't think the guy's been writing the darklands 2 design doc on the side all these years

From NeoGAF:
IUuc1l.jpg

edit: more crap
Because we kept hearing stories about how Ryan left the Halo project to follow his dream and that he was investing his life savings into this project, etc. etc.

I heard about it constantly on twitter, on podcasts, even my own Facebook. I have friends that know Ryan personally and they would ask me, "Hey, I know you play IOS games, my buddy Ryan is..." etc.

It was really a pretty full forced effort and it was kind of gross.
All of this full-on hype for the game went over my head (as most of us on Codexia) but apparently some people really know how and where to create buzz.

I don't know. The bio page also mentions:

MobyGames said:
Before he designed games for Microprose, Arnold Hendrick worked in game design. Of note: Grav Armor (Dwarfstar), a tactical combat game, and Barbarian Prince (also Dwarfstar), a paragraph adventure boardgame. He was also involved in Trireme from Avalon Hill (Redesign and Development).

I can totally see someone involved with the game industry like that still writing and playing games as a hobby through all these years.

fair enough bros

I dug up his email if you want to personally galvanise him into action

http://mmotidbits.com/about/

My academic training is in history. I view events, people and products through an historical lens. I like to analyze and see patterns, yet remain sensitive to the “quirks of fate” (i.e., dumb luck).

that does sound like a monoclean trait

Late in 2009 I moved to the Seattle area to join The Amazing Society as Senior Producer. The studio, owned by Gazillion Entertainment, created from scratch a Marvel Superhero Squad Online (www.heroup.com). This is a AAA quality MMORPG on the web in 3D (using the Unity engine). The game, a combination of free-to-play and subscription, reached over 2 million users and averaged well over 100,000 players each month during its first year of rock-solid operation.

Wide experience in game development is very useful. Much can be learned by experiencing the entire development cycle of initial concept to running the live team of an aging product. It is enlightening to see games go from initial design to gold and beyond. I have iterated on project management practices many, many times. I have lived through dozens of game projects from start to finish, and another dozen or two that faltered along the way. Unlike many others, I still love working on games.

there's that unity again

Looks incline.

The Quick Run-Down

If you're just having a quick look, here are the key things that make this game what it is:
  • The game is an homage to classic RPGs such as Eye of the Beholder, Might & Magic, Dungeon Master, Stonekeep, etc
  • Movement is grid-based and turn-based
  • It is set in an infinite, persistent world (yes, persistent, too!)
  • The world is rich and full of dungeons, crypts, forests, cities, vast oceans and more
  • World is NOT randomly generated, but it IS infinite, so you can share what you find with friends
  • Items, weapons, quests, locations, maps, NPCs, even dialogue are generated by the game
  • Even some graphics such as weapon images are generated procedurally
  • The game is nearly finished, but we need some extra funds to add the final layer of polish to make the game as good as it can be

If you like shmups such as R-Type or Gradius, then this is for you:

(Will come out for PC and other platforms and not just the Dreamcast)
Too much consoles here, and steam as PC option, I will pass.

You only had to look at the OP, it has been in the red for quite sometime when still was a failed indiegogo project. I put it in yellow after the news post.

Upon discovering the throwbacks available now on my touchscreen phone (like Mega Man and Tony Hawk Pro Skater...the list goes on and keeps getting longer), I struggled with not being able to feel the controls...$#!%!!

And I wanted a simple solution.

I didn't want a case in the shape of a game controller nor did I want to carry around suction-cup game pieces.

So a few friends and I have come up with GAME LEGEND!!!

Game Legend is an invisible, tactile controller that you place on your touchscreen device; so that you can feel where game controls are positioned.
what the heck?

PROJECT-X VIRTUAL REALITY, VIDEO GAME BATTLE SUIT.

Greetings Kick Starter. My name is Jamaal Bey, CEO of Bey-Technology.
What we do for video gamers is what the U.S. Military does to its soldiers in war games. They train, give them a suit, gun and throw them into battle.

Well, we @ Bey-Tech have created a virtual reality video game battle suit, we call Project-X. This suit launches the players into the game . Project-X alters your strategy and amplifies the games intensity by throwing you right into the action with battle suits vibrations.
oh yes. Game intensity. Battle vibrations. Indeed.

50 dollar goal. None of the tiers include the game.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/drmikey/the-indie-console?ref=category
I'm developing a completely open "game console" for indie gamers and developers! It's been designed to lower the barrier of entry for tiny little game developers to get their games on a dedicated indie gaming machine. How? The console was built to run any of the most common indie game platforms, complete with an online game store and one slick shiny interface.

Already have too many devices crowded around your TV, or don't like the hardware specs? You can also just get the software and install it on your own machine!

Oncolos provides a venue for the visualization and confrontation of cancer so you, the player, can take back your power to heal.

Game Features

* · Players: Ages 7 to adult
* · Game Type: 3D Fantasy Based Role Play Game
* · Game Style: Player vs. Environment (PvE) cooperative only
* · Game Funding: Free to Play (F2P) with online store for in-game assistance and vanity items to provide revenue
Game Elements

* · Four “races” with different innate abilities
* · Traditional RPG roles – mage, warrior, healer
* · Large open 3D world
* · Instance dungeons

The game will be strictly Player vs. Environment (PvE). There will be no dueling or player vs. player (PvP) modes. The four races will operate exclusively in a cooperative mode. However, some of the more powerful "spells" wielded in the game can have detrimental effects on the other races so elements of strategy will be required in their use. In game checks will not permit players to use these effects to "grief" the system.

In the game world the player will confront a series of different "monsters" which act as stylized representations of viruses, bacteria, and, of course, cancer cells.

The playing area will comprise the interior of various parts of the body. Like the character races and the monsters they fight, all the elements will be stylized to reduce the direct connection to the actual human body.

So can anyone tell me where is this incline when every single game on kickstarter is either some casual turn-based strategy like Banner Saga/That XCom clone or some primitive RPG shit from '80s?

There was this massive brainwashing campaign from butthurt devs for morons that publishers hurt them and yet all they do now is promising games still aimed at a casual crowd?

So they still make the games that are worst of the worst - where is the "incline"?

I understand that searching so many pages is a chore, so I suggest to look at the OP first, easier and quicker.
Besides, despite what people say the search function works mighty fine, you can search single threads too:

Doh! I overlooked that as well lol.

Oh anyway Kz3r0, just thought it may be of interest to you and other backers here that Left Hand Card Game Serpent's Tongue is fully funded, with some very nice stretch goals. Due to them having passed their goal by a large amount, they're thanking all backers who pledged $25 and above by giving a faux leather pouch for free. There's also a new Compendium that they've come up with - a storage case of sorts - which you can use to store your incantation cards. MSRP is $30, but you can top up your pledge by $12 through Paypal to get it before the game goes retail.
