tbh this thread should DEFINETELY be in Tactical Gaming Infinitron

might even help to keep out the what is an rpg retards
has character building, quests, C&C, exploration
o yea and it actually has combat
it's more of an RPG than most of the stuff that gets posted here nowadays

I'm too lazy to look up the previous discussion on this topic, so I'll just rephrase my pov.

The differences between turn-based squad tactics and true RPG is pretty moot.
To not constantly fall into "what's an rpg" godforsaken area, I consider one of the deciding distinctions to be constant characters' presence in the game world.

In true RPG the game world is continuous.
Characters usually go from exploration to combat without an extra loading screen.
And even if there's an "overworld map travel" mode, there's a chance for random encounters, so the characters don't just instantly teleport to their destination.

And in tacticools, the world is discrete.
You have a central management hub from which you launch your "stand-alone" combat missions.
Exploration, even if it's not completely absent, is rudimentary.
Among the examples would be Blagguards, X-Com-alikes, Troubleshooter. And yes - King Arthur.
nah, it's an rpg

Yup, agreed, easily meets the criteria for being a RPG. In fact I'd say it's more firmly a RPG than most games that call themselves one.

It has tons of content and well worth the price (which is a better thing to be concerned about), but the way the game is stored is unoptimized. I think they said they are working on a patch to address this.

Anyone experiencing issues with not being able to save during missions? Could save in the first three missions or so, but lately, the save button is just greyed out. And no, I am not playing Roguelite.

There was one mission I ran into where I couldn't save, and it was early on so probably the same mission. Not sure if it's by design or a bug.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture
Yeah, the dream like one with Yvain the crossbowman. It's intentional apparently, although I can't for the life of me think why they thought it was a good idea. After that I've not come across any more so far where you couldn't save, but I think I read there might be another later on.

The next (side) mission with the traitors in the castle has the same "problem". I hardly think that this is intentional.

It happened once to me. I think it's a leftover from when you weren't able to save in missions at all.

Happened to me in the Yvain mission too. Figured it was because we were trapped in his dream or something. The mission seemed to account for it in terms of difficulty too. Haven't had it happen since.

I have Balin, Tristan and Tegyr. However, Tristan almost doesn't count as his basic attack costs 4AP, making him a strictly subpar choice. Unless he has some uber OP-skill in the third part of the skill tree I haven't seen

Difficulty picked up again for me after Act 1 boss, even with these relics, three of which are all stacked on Balin.

I can't imagine how it's like on very hard.

Jesus lol. Your Balin is way more stacked than mine and mine already one-shots everything

I guess your other party members are better balanced around him or I'm just playing worse. He picks off big targets easily but when there are so many it's not enough. Perhaps I lack AoE.

flat damage boosts apply to everything if it's not obvious
e.g., I have a +5 flat damage boost on Mordred and it applies directly to his 1AP shield charge making it actually do pretty high damage/AP at this point

How to solve Champion's low mobility issue:

The White Knight, with its unique ability "blessed weapon" (+30% dmg for 2 turns / 1ap cost after passives) together with the standard after-kill bonuses from the rage ability that all Champions get seem perfect for these items. Time for a re-spec.

That's what %-weapon damage means in your tool-tip. It takes your weapon's damage, adds damage bonuses and then it takes the % listed on the tooltip and deals that damage.

I would never equip this. Everything in this game is positioning - that's the chief reason Balin is so OP. Because he completely bypass one of the main mechanics - not just by jumping, which is fine, but by hiding, meaning he effectively can't be damaged, so where he is suddenly almost doesn't matter at all (as long as he doesn't get spotted). The reverse is true for every other character in the game.

Something that puts me into places I can't control - and next to an enemy while I'm about to pass to them! - sounds horrifyingly bad. It's the reason that teleportation-sigil for squishies when they get hit also sounds terrible.

Where your guy is is the difference between you getting hit 1 or 3 times during a fight, which is the difference between almost no effect or an injury.

That's without mentioning the horrifying prospect of backstabs which, if your character is getting backstabbed, he is taking an injury that fight unless his name is Mordred.

Yes I'm worried about that too but the ability sounds so fun I must try it.
