i'm also blown away by the fact that rather than most games based on a fiction story and setting, it's not hampered by that or held back. They let u fully explore that story and alter it from all angles, rather than restricting u to the story they want u to see. It truly is an open, immersive experience that also happens to have a great fiction story and setting backing it. Bravo, neocore! <3 :)

Fluent Yep. I still haven't played the DLC campaigns - Druid and Saxon I think. Then there was that RPG styled campaign. Pretty sure there was some extra units in them as well. It's probably best to enjoy the first game as much as possible, or finish the main campaign before playing the sequel with low expectations.

...And then returning to the DLC in the first game in the future like I've done. Because the sequel was disappointing.

I keep hearing about the sequel. What went wrong? what does it lack? Just curious. but yeah, I see myself spending 100+ hours with the first game and eventually checking out Druid/Saxon/Fallen Champions DLCs. Can't wait to get a stronghold, heh. :)

Game has very smoove feel to it. Gonna need it to make up for Age of Empires style combat.

smoove, yes! the combat really ramps up tactically when u control many units against many other units. The non-combat stuff is very slick, too. Just make sure to use everything at your disposal to cut down on troop loss in tougher fights. :)

My experience was different from others and I left a negative review on Steam. You experience true disapointment when something you want to be good turns to shit. But then I played it the second and last time and changed my review to positive. But only because of what it could have been. It's been a while but:
  • You get to pick your class this time, but the default class skills are shit. Every time I got another knight; most were more powerful than my main character.
  • I couldn't complete the game on my first run because of a bug. Completed it on the second. Neocore were offering to fix people's savegames, but who wants that aggravation. This was on the final version of the game from a new start.
  • I'm not a graphics whore, but the graphics looked like they were good and then someone threw acid on your monitor.
  • The game is broken and unfinished. No matter what I did with the sound settings, I think everything was too low. spells, combat, everything. Like you're watching a silent play.
  • They didn't really bring back Knights from the first game. Only a few. And you were given all of these no-name knights? The Green Knight was an enemy. WTF Neocore? I just left him where he was like a boss. Surrounded by dryads. He deserved his retirement.
  • It's been more than a few years, but the whole gamee seemed like they bit off more than they could chew and set their sights too high. Then didn't have time to finish it.
The worst thing was they implemented some pretty cool features. Item crafting. GOLEM crafting. The army units were awesome, you had:
Red, white and black dragons. gargoyles, werewolves (that shapeshifted)
and if I remember correctly there was much more RPG elements for your army: you could upgrade their equipment and skills further with research and buildings. And even your main character could be further upgraded with story elements and research.

If I was someone else reading what I just wrote, I'd probably think I was full of shit and the game had to be better than it sounded. Maybe the good bits outshone the bad. But I wouldn't play it again. I wish they had just added stuff from the above paragrah into the first game engine version. It would have been more than enough. It was almost as bad as moving from the BG engine to the NWN one.

having a ball with this. just got rocked by some Bedegraine Forest monsters in a quest battle. Gotta get a lot stronger and try later, but I only have 11 turns to get it done, so it's tricky. Besides getting abused there, I think the choice and consequence system really adds a lot of joy to the game. I did something cool -
It was a scripted quest in which I had a rogue Prince start a war between Wessex and Logres. I eventually have to capture Logres because my stronghold of choice, London, is there. But Wessex and Logres pummeled each other and now i'm in a great position to swoop into Wessex, attack and take over a weakened country, and build up the strength to challenge the King of London eventually. But u get various choices to make and u watch them play out on the tactical map. It's really cool!

This one is a full course meal! :)

If only London were that easy to (re-)conquer from Globohomo now. Maybe it is. Lost for want of trying.

I'd fucking thrive on a great tactical RPG based on the following adaptation of King Arthur.........

Falksi Nobody would be able to write it. Not even sure about the writing quality in Neocore's latest King Arthur RPG. But still, this great game is currently the closest you'll get to what you want.

play this game, though. it is the full Arthur experience, with quite good writing, tons of integrated lore and full customization of the story. U can play it your way and do what u want to, and watch your choices get reflected onto the field of tactics. It's quite remarkable.

Just bought this game for a few bucks on steam sale, so far looks pretty nice. Even the graphics look better than I thought, especially when I max them out at 1440p. Few questions for anybody who has played...

1) I have heard archers are OP..there is an option to play w/ less powerful archers all around, is this a good idea? Or will it make the game perhaps impossible?

2) DLC's? worth it, yes no? which ones?

3? Are there any mods were bothering w/ or just play the game? I don't usually care about mods, but if there are some that increase quality of life, graphics, or anything else might consider it...

TIA

Hey, hope I can help.

1. The game is challenging at times, even with OP archers. Just play with the setting unchecked and u should be fine. If it starts getting way too easy later (when the game ramps up challenge), then turn on the setting.

2. Yes, all DLCs are worth it, I hear they are excellent.

3. Don't worry about mods. Play the base game first and enjoy, it is an excellent adventure! :)

Take care. <3

sweet, thanks...cool, yes it does look like you can change archer strength on the fly and are not stuck w/ whichever choice you decide at the beginning...that is a good idea.

Am enjoying the game very much so far, quite engrossing for whatever reason. Totally worth the $6.79 I have paid for the game and all the DLC no matter what happens at this point, already have got my money worth..

I would recommand to play with the option, because otherwise they tend te be a clear cut above anything else in early/ mid-game, and you first fight against unseelie archer is going to be an absolute nightmare.
