My guess is that since Vavra lost control (he sold the studio, if I am not mistaken) somebody thought the game needs some diversity and inclusivity. This is what always happens with successful studios though. Just look at CDPR. Used to be based (collecting cards in Witcher 1 lmao), now their latest game will be pushing fourth wave feminism into a medieval fantasy game, and the MC will be fighting the patriarchy with a Botox + lip-filler face.

Just enjoy the decent games while they last and then stop buying from them and move on once the rot has taken over. Don't try to make developers into your heroes. They are entertainers selling you a product.

I'll play it and almost certainly love it but I do give a shit. I hate it because:

1. It's the most blatant, embarrassing case of tokenism I've ever seen
2. From a studio that almost ruined its mainstream reputation by refusing to stoop to tokenism 7 years ago
3. It's extremely inauthentic in a game that's built its brand on historical authenticity.
