So it got denuvo kicked out and i ended up having free time,so i decided to check it out. And must admit, the combat is pretty good. One of the better tactical tb games i have played. I am kind off impressed by it lol. Far better than most generic tb garbage we getting the last few years. The battles are done in the actual map,so if you explore and up at a bridge or a ford or what eva and there is enemy there, you end up fighting it on the said bridge.

Tho must admit that the game have its problems, but it is worth checking out for people that are in to tb combat.

I also must add that the levelling is pretty nicely done. You have four categories with five tears for skills. So you must need x amount of points in the category to get access to the next tier, you get more points by your actions during the quests. So if you choose to help criminals, you get anarchy points,if you act honourably, you get order points,if you use magic you get magic,if you brute force yourself trough troubles you get force.

Hmmm so i finished the game and kind off felt like writing a quick review of it. Generally speaking i would recommend it.

Soooo where to begin....well the writing is ok,pretty generic fantasy setting,as expected from a KB game. There is a few side quests that picked me interest a few that gave me a giggle, but generally speaking nothing bad nor very good to remember. The map is pretty cool tho,it gives you that fantasy feel,it was joy exploring it. A lot of hidden catches and things, but nothing impressive. If anything the itemization is the lowest point of the game. There is bunch of sets but you can't actually get them, because the game is made to give you random legendary item for a set after quest completion, which means that you end up with a few parts of a few different sets, which is beyond retarded. Also you get a full set from the hardest quest.....which is total shit and worth less and just takes space in the inventory. I finished the game without changing me equipment lol.

Now the combat is pretty nice, tho later on it could become a bit tedious once you get in the meta, same as any TB game. The system is pretty nice, there is a need for tactical thinking on higher difficulty for sure. The system itself is that you get different tier units that need different amount of leadership to get to their max possible amount of the stack. For example you have tier 1 pike men that could get at max to 10 in a stack, which also depends on the leadership you have,so if you have say 500 leadership your stack could get the most of 5 pikemen, griffins which are tier 3 could get to 3 max at stack, which was pretty retarded or a bug since there is higher tier creatures that could get more than 3 lol. Tho the amount of max units is not tier locked, since you could get only one dragon but 3 celestial warriors. Tho the system is pretty interesting and forces you to get better units and not just stick with the level 1 units,it is also a bit of decline since you get stuck fighting with smaller stacks. Also the units are divided in four factions, order which are the humans and have the least variety, magic which is mostly golems and shit, anarchy which is combination of undead and bandits/assassins and finally force which is mainly animals like dragons and griffons and dwarfs....you could say only animals . So the access to those troops and their effectiveness comes down to the way you finish quests. There is main conflicts between order vs anarchy and magic vs force. I personally played the force character aka the merc but ended up finishing all the quests with magic variation because it gave me better reward and made sense. I find the faction system pretty cool idea even if it have a few problems, like later on not being able to pick choices because you have too much of the opposite influence. Like being forced to side with x brother because you have too much order. Also the force options were pretty much meh.

The game runs pretty fine, easy to load and is easy on the eyes even on my old pc,also there is a quick save now. Tho i had a bug where the game crashes during loading screen some times. But it didn't stop me from finishing the game lol, since you could spend hour or two without seeing a loading since the whole map and most battles are preloaded.

Another possible negative is that the game is clearly unfinished or rushed, even the ending tells you that there will be continuation. Also it is pretty obvious that there was an idea for undead faction and shouldn't have been part of anarchy.

That said....it is pretty fun game, had good time, far better than that garbage expeditions rome lol. No fuchsin sjw shit, pure generic fantasy fun with some hard combat encounters.
:positive:

Now i will go and try to finish nu disciples, maybe will writer a review of it too.

ps; also nice ending song,cheers

So I've tried playing this for whatever reason and I have to say it's kinda amazing just how bad it is. I'm not even talking about the immediately obvious stuff like production values from 2010 or trying to take a semi-established purely PC franchise in an attempt to make a console friendly hit out of it by adding some half-assed modern trends and sensibilities without expecting it to immediately blow up into the stratosphere with no survivors. Just the game in general and how it plays.

For starters, with all the poorly written blabbering with full voice overs and cinematic presentation, the game has no dialogue trees. I was so shocked by it initially that my mind immediately came up with a cope that this is some sort of introduction thing, but nope, entire game is like that. You click on an npc, spend minutes listening to some insipid exchange with zero input and then the game throws you out of the dialogue view and if you want to know if there is some follow up (there often is) you click on the npc again to check, repeat. Wat.

The area design is literally run around to click intractable, highlighted parts to get gold and vendor junk. Most doors are decoration, but if you bump in all of them like a tard then one in a 100 will be opened and inside you can find 54 gold pieces and a tablet with 3 lines of "flavor" text that your mind won't agree to read for you, because it already branded you a dumbass for launching this shit. After leaving the first settlement I went up a branching path and found a closed gate at the end of it. Huh, this surely will open later. Sure enough, there is a "quest" (meaning "do one combat encounter supporting either paragon or exxxtreme guys") 100m down an opposite branching path after which I go back to the gate which is now open an inside there is a guy who is like "oh, you helped X so here, have 54 gold pieces" and that's all there is there. Mindblowing.

"Tactical" combat is like Elemental, where all the arenas are extremely small, so you usually attack/are attacked on turn one and click enemies until they die. The spice and emotion comes from applying 7-8dmg per turn status effects on enemies that have dozens hp and encounters take 3 turns max. I also still don't understand why they've kept leadership, but then added hard unit caps on top of that. What's the rationale there, it's like putting on multiple condoms to ensure you take as little pleasure as possible.

Blame the obviously slow devs all you want, but whoever greenlit trying to sell this to mass-market at AAA+ price without expecting it to end in anything else than utter catastrophe is a moron of the highest order.

Bonus points, NPC lines do not change to different PC heroes. So they are always talking same thing, no matter what hero (paladin, fighter, mage) tell or ask them.
Same lines.

I started playing this over the weekend, because I was in the mood for a tactical RPG and this was supposed to be similar to Disciples: Liberation which I played earlier this year and liked.

I'm liking KB2 quite a bit, as well (DISCLAIMER: I never played any of the earlier King's Bounty titles).

It may have helped that there seems to have been some upgrades since the game was first launched (multiple difficulty levels and battle animation speed-up being the main ones).

I certainly agree with some of the criticisms others have voiced. You move too slowly. Having to wander around searching for generic loot is annoying. A lot of the dialogue and flavor text is boring and flat.

But I think the core tactical combat engine is solid, the unit variety is quite good (although, why can the enemy have three stacks of the same unit and I can only have one?!), and there is a nice selection of spells to experiment with (although, the stinginess of the mana economy means a lot of experimental battles and then reloading when you realize that a particular spell that you thought would be good actually kind of sucks).

It's definitely one of those games where you want a podcast or something playing in the background because the game's audio environment can be quite annoying (e.g. NPCs repeating the same dialogue over and over and over as you're walking around).

I've seen some folks complain about the switch to 3D movement. I kind of like it, though. The gameworld is fairly attractive and it does help to give the game a very different feel to top-down tactical games like Disciples: Liberation.

There does seem to be a heck of a difficulty spike around level 20, however (I'm playing as a mage, BTW). Up until then, there was plenty of random tasks to do and places to explore, but now it's narrowed down to a string of mostly pretty challenging battles. Trying to decide if I will push through or maybe restart as a different character (I definitely didn't use my money and mana resources nearly as efficiently as I could have on this playthrough).

Dude, do yourself a favour and buy KB: Legends and KB: Crossworlds.

If you actually like KB2 you'll love those. It's like the difference between an old, crusty, meagre chocolate bar you find behind your sofa and the Willy Wonka chocolate factory.

(Also if you liked Liberation and haven't played any Disciples before you should get D2 Gold and D3 Reincarnation).

I assume these games don't have controller support?

I spend 8 - 10 hours a day clicking through spreadsheets at work, so, if I spend another 4 - 5 hours after work mousing my way through a PC game, my CTS flairs up pretty bad. That's a big part of the reason I've been leaning towards more recent games like KB2 and D:L.

P. sure not natively. But there are a lot of mapping tools you can use to map your mouse onto a controller.

So, I bought this for 6 whole Euros on GOG yesterday (I technically overpayed and could've gotten it for 4, but it was a Steam key and I prefer GOG). I'm a sucker for turn-based battles, so I figured why not and it seems the consensus is that the battles are the best part. Any advice on how to make it overall less bad before I dig in?

There's nothing good about combat in this game other than the fact it is turn based. You can res your units up to the full capacity after every battle so your performance doesn't matter much/at all unless you really screw up and a stack is completely wiped out. You pay money for it, but you will get way more than needed. This game's just plain bad, no real saving grace to it I'm afraid.

The game is fun,tho it is not whole. Should have had more content and it is obvious that they thought a bigger story, maybe DLC.

I think the movement speed hack was more or less mandatory, but if I remember correctly they fixed it on their end at some point. You should notice it quickly if it annoys you...

If you want this type of game you should have bough the previous series (that started with King's Bounty: The Legend).
Even the worst games among them is way better than this.

I own almost all the previous ones.
I have played some on my android phone similar in style to the old king's bounty games which were quite good unlike this one.
I don't remember their exact names but I do remember they had "bounty" on the title so if you have an android phone you could check if those games (free games) are still available to play (Google has the habit to remove/hide games every time they change their stupid play store policy).
