In the beginning Jon van Caneghem made the actual early King's Bounty games. Those weren't shitty, but in fact genre-defying masterpieces.
Then, the early modern King's Bounty games were made by the Space Rangers guys. Those weren't shitty either and were pretty great.
Then, the Space Rangers guys disbanded and the later modern KB games were made by no name modders with no connection to the series. Those games were shitty but it had nothing to do with the budget. See - no name modders.
And now, King's Bounty 2 is a project directly produced by the publisher's hatchetmen according to the buzzword-driven specifications from above. It's impossible to tell if they had any talent or not because they never made a King's Bounty game before. And it being a flop is completely irrelevant, seeing how the publisher can take a loss without even noticing it, and none of the people who made a good KB game have worked on the series in at least a decade.
Seeing King's Bounty 2 being a flop and going - what a shame, those guys lost their touch, is a take worthy of Dean Takahashi.
