The problem is that the closed beta testers were chosen for a reason - ie maturity, intelligence etc etc, you get the idea.

Yes, Darth Windu. You're the perfect example of this.

the only thing they should actually feel ashamed of, is taking 3.5 years to make a mod/patch.

Had they missed a deadline I would agree with you, but they gave none and so have broken no promises.

It took me 5 minutes to run the 100 meter today. But i never set a target time, so i have nothing to feel ashamed about a'mright?

Dunno what broken promises has to do with this, try reading what i actually said moron.

I have no idea why you insist on a logical reason.

:doubletake:

Oh, no. Thinking of a mod they've been working on for ages and haven't officially released yet as theirs. The arrogance! Are you even listening to yourself? What I'd like to hear is why they shouldn't think of it as theirs.

They can think whatever they like, as pointed out, legally they can't own the copyright.

the team leader didn't think anything would come of the copyright claim, so there's no illusions there; Kaevee's voiceovers are copyrighted; and the voice isn't even one of TG's, but a volunteer.

Logic circuit failure

Aside from the mildly amusing DRAMA and theoretical discussion, has anyone actually installed the leaked beta? Any comments on it's playability/bugs/whatever?

I'm too tired to search through this mess of butthurt-drama.

I think I'll simply equip the ring and be done with it.

According to others, it works with a few bugs.

I just tried hacked version . I updated it to 1.09b from their website and regreted it.

The update installed fine. When i entered TILOS the mod was working great. Soon I

found a mojor BUG/BLOCK , I can't enter the Cantina. The screen stuck itself to New

Game menu screen. The only way to solve it was to terminate the game from

Taskbar. So i backed my last savegame. Then i re-installed the game and use the

official patch. Then i restore the savegame. Now i could enter the Cantina. So i close

the game , installed tslrp patch (v.1.08b) and load the same game, i could enter the

cantina again. So i again patched it up to v.109b from net. Again the same

BUG/BLOCK poped up.
There could be 3 possible explaintion on it.
1. TG modder crippled the patch v.1.09b themselves, so any one who installed it will

be screwed.
2. TG modder made a honest patch. Their Beta-Testers did not bother with it. So it

remains. This Bug/Block is still unreported on thier mantis website.
3. My comps are playing horrible trick on me.
I am pointing fingers at 2. If this is a case , then i guess this leaked version might be

the more stable than their 1.0c version. This deserves to be on TG website , but

there is no point posting there so i did not even bother.
Tip for all guys testing this leaked mod.
1. Make TSL game easy to install re-install. - My method I created a folder SWTSL on my backup hard disk. then created 4 folders namely 1 , 2 , 3 , 4. Then dumped Cd1 data on 1 , cd2 data on 2 , cd3 data on 3 and cd4 data 4. Then i double click auton file fdrom 1 folder. The game got installed under 5 min flat without asking to insert any disk. Well it it did at the very last , i pressed enter key to finish the installation.
If you want it to update to 1.09b patch. Then use the update feature. It creates "1.0b8_1.0b9_EN.7z" file. The file is moved after its installed. So you need to search your hard disk for it. The file size is 5,412,313. Now you can extract these files to KOTOR2 folder from any decompression s/w that supports 7z compresiion like WINRAR. No need to connect to their site again. However as i found out earlier it may be worse patch than v.08b.

They have specifically said that they changed the auto update to fuck people who have the leaked version.

Instead they went all butthurt locking and deleting topics where people reported -bugs that aren't on mantis- which only proves that TG is a very very shitty team of modders, and having no deadlines + spending 3.5 years to release nothing only proves this again and again.

As has been mentioned on the TG forums in the past, no threads are deleted; only moved. That the topic has been moved does not mean the team has chosen to ignore the bug. And, of course, TG has released a fair few things, notably fixes for TSL issues and some of the modding tools they developed for KOTOR modding.

It is fully playable.

'Can be theoretically played all the way to the end' is not the same as 'fully playable'. It is not fully playable; there are issues that need to be manually circumvented, and some bugs in the way. It is not polished. Not wanting to release something in that state can be understood, I think.

Because everything there belongs to Lucasarts. Even EULA says so. EULA also says that you can't alter the game in any way - so this pretty much means that Lucasarts may close the TSLRP any time they want. Just like Beth did it with Morrowind mod for Oblivion. So I think TG just needs a reality check.

Even installing the TSLRP violates the EULA, but that's not stopping anyone. But that's beside the point; I still don't why, having put in the work, it is arrogant for the Team to feel some claim to this. It may not be completely right according to the letter of the law, but it is not arrogant, nor is it unreasonable.

You can say it is your mod only if you make something on your own. Like Markland's Purgatorio.

Me having been involved in NWN modding, I think you're overestimating the difference between that TG has been doing and what Rogue Dao studios has been doing.

No. Considering you never set yourself a target, why WOULD you be ashamed? Ok, you're slow. So... so what? Does it matter? If you're slow, but you enjoy running anyway, does it matter? No; it doesn't. I brought in the idea of broken deadlines as that was the only thing I could think of in this situation that they would have a right to be ashamed over, but as there wasn't one...

:doubletake:.

No, seriously. Why should people be judged by clear, cold logic when it comes to their hobbies? Besides, you weren't even asking for a logical reason, because whichever way you looked at the issue, you only considered one side; constructing a false dichotomy.

I can't believe somebody actually ran that auto updater. Oh well - I guess somebody had to figure that one out the hard way. There is nothing wrong with 1.0b8 beyond a few annoyances that can be worked around people. Don't get greedy.

I was suspecting that there update patch would create some probelms. Stll couldn't resist testing it. Atleast it contained no virus/spyware etc. The whole re-install took just few min on my comp. Now testing it with Nar shadda skybox mod, higher power mod and easy swoop race mode. Also using customized classes.2da , classpowergain.2da and regeneration.2da to make game easier and faster to complete.

Even installing the TSLRP violates the EULA.
They have replaced orginal "ObsidianEnt.bik" with their own to show Team Gizka logo. That might be enough to consider a violation.

I think jeetu worded it a little poorly to give the impression that the Obsidian logo was replaced with Team Gizka's. Actually the TG logo appears after the Obsidian logo in the .bik.

Are you retarded? Every fan-project leaves its mark somewhere. Rom-translations, many patches (even if it's just a custom version number), things like that. Most have their own splash screen, or mention themself briefly in the credits.

If you complain about this you are dumb.

hey don't misinterpret me. I was talking about jeetu's words about their logo -replacing- something. Of course it is normal for fan projects to put their logo in anything they modify.

Eh, just want to watch the .bik?

There you go

Don't think it's a big deal. Just a splash screen tacked on after Obsidian's logo fades out.

edit: Do hope I'm not breaking any... uh, copyright laws by uploading the .bik.

Well I was also planning to play KotOR2 actually with TSLRP. So that was the reason N1 to install the game in the first place.

edit: well yes, they just added their logo after the Obsidian's one and some leet stuff like fancy copyrights "TG is a subsidiary of (c) bla bla bla, it belongs to (c) bla bla bla"
will continue playing the game.

Thats true, they have not deleted the Obsidian logo.
Doesn't affect me as i deleted 3 short video files from movie folder "leclogo.bik", "Legal.bik" and "ObsidianEnt.bik". It results in getting to load game screen faster.
