Local split screen multiplayer, in a third person game featuring ranged combat. This more or less guarantees getting shot at by enemies you can't see.
There's a reason we abandoned split screen, even if I too have some nostalgia over it.

Art style can't get more generic than that. Also, that dyke hair cut on the male protag. Fucking lol.

I've been waiting forever for split screen Dark Souls. Hopefully they will commit to a real no-hassle system instead of burying it under tons of restrictions and failure conditions. The coop in the Souls games is a travesty and I'd be willing to bet this was a big motivating factor to these guys.

With adjusted FOV it works, though not great. Outward did it and it was... functional, though obviously just connecting via lan/online is better.

edit: Oricru looks obnoxiously purple and orange, my guess is it's an unreal engine game? edit -- checked, yep.

Did I understand correctly that we can't haz skill trees for exp, only the attributes in this game?

Hopefully it turns out well, Soulslikes really need impeccable animations to play well. My one and only fond memory of base game ds2 was coop Skeleton Lords so if it's good it'll be fun :)

Wait, that's the actual voice? I thought it was the author of the video fucking around lmao.

So the protagonist looks like a retard and sounds like a faggot.

Also who gives a fuck about co-op.

Yeah I too enjoy the janky indie soulslikes as much as the next guy, Ashen, Immortal Unchained, The Surge, but I have to agree with the above, the protagonist is a dealbreaker for me too. Sorry.

The Last Oricru Demo Out Now

Play the first two levels of The Last Oricru. Experience the start of a branching story by your player choices, immerse yourself in challenging combat alone or in the shared split-screen coop mode.

A bit of Gothic, a bit of Dark Souls, a bit of Nox, and a really great tech-meets-fantasy vibe with gray moral choices. Look and sound promising. However, like all the codexers above as well as some users in the steam forum, I just wish they either redo all the voicelines of the protagonists or at least allow us to disable the main character's voice.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
So I gave it a shot, played with it for about an hour. It's indie, it's janky but it's got a potential. Looks like a full-blooded RPG with solid itemization, stats, branching quests, robust c&c, factions and faction relations etc. The combat is janky but serviceable, as are the visuals (those need work tho, something about the engine feels off, maybe bad frame pacing).

TLDR, looked like a quirky mix of Gothic and Dark Souls, with a co-op option (didn't try).

1) The inventory and customisation pages look as if from a different game. But they look good / promising nonetheless.
2)
Gaming 1994-2000 - There is a voice-over!!?
Gaming 2005-2015 - Can I turn off the subtitles thingy?
--- turquoise-grey neverwhere ---
Gaming 2022 - I like the game, but please let me turn off the voice-overs.
3) Good games often had some poorly made features that strangely worked out as parts of the whole good charm. I am all-in for this one.
4) The combat looks like Piranhas made their 15th game and finally got it right (sadly, Elex 2 would be only like the 10th in that line or so :D )
5) Weapons alternating their heavy attack to a new effect, kudos!

I've talked with the devs, apparently the main character's "strange" voicing is intentional. It is meant to evolve actually. Neat.

If this danger-hair protagonist with annoying voice end up growing on me while I'm playing the full version, that'd be quite an accomplishment from the devs, let's wait and see...
Main hero of The Last Oricru
The third act in our series is all about our hero, Silver. Meet his voice actor Brian Caspe and our lead writer Mikuláš Bryan as they tell you more not only about Silver's hair but also about his character.

Single player or Online Coop? Did they cut out local Coop? In that case fuck em, that was the only reason I was following this crap. As another local coop RPGish game after Outward.
