After MMX the appeal of this one has really lessened dramatically. It just seems so... simple/ quaint compared to MMX that it feels like a step back, not a step forward.

meh didn't care for the first one and doubt ill play this one either. Now if the combat had been turn based instead of real time backpedalling clickfest it would have been great. alas the combat system is complete shite
Yes, an DM clone should have TB combat. Well done. A for effort.

More like step back, step to the side, another step back, step forward, fuck - a pit, reload.

First screenshot: teletubby rainbow adventures.
Second and third screenshot: psych-ward horror.

Pretty cool.

I didn't finish Grimrock though, started disliking puzzles when they had you backtracking for floors and it felt designed for just taking lots of time and patience rather than lots of logic.
I don't mind the combat, but I hope they better balance damage output between characters. Else I'll just go Crooked Bee-style with 4 mages.

Looks like more of the same. Unfortunate. Puzzle-solving and secret-finding was fun, combat and character system was complete bullshit. Probably not going to be playing this.

Great, I'll take your press copy.

So another game entirely then. Did you want to name it something else too?

Actually just started playing this yesterday, l picked it up in the last steam sale. Puzzles are great. The kiting and square dancing I can live with so far (but only down to lvl 4 atm). It just brings back memories tbh, but I can see it perhaps getting old after a bit. Thank vishnu they're reworking that spell system :/

I mean if it was 1 player controlled character like stonekeep for example realtime combat would be fine but it just bad in this game. Might and Magic legacy is indeed superior to this steaming pile of turd called grimrock, its not even in the same league.

2014 indeed looks like a year of incline, now codexers want to see every game changed into MMX, not into isometric Fallout/BG clone :incline:

I find extremely hilarious that very few people around here know something about Dungeon Master.

A little bit of history of the genre:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeon_Master_(video_game)

Bottom line: LoG has nothing to do with M&M (or Wizardry). It is as much as inferior in combat and character progression as it is superior in dungeon design and puzzle-solving.

I think the only people who think that LoG has anything to do with M&M or Wizardries are those who come in here to demand less puzzles and more TB, so at least their idiocy is easily spotted. mindx2 only mentioned MMX because in his mindd now that he has a proper dungeon crawling fix he needs not use the inferior RT substitute anymore, which is fair.

I can see an RT blobber working just fine, if they would fix the goddamn combat. I liked the frantic nature of juggling spell runes what not, it is nice change from the more measured pace you get while solving puzzles and exploring. I think they can work well together.

Edit: Having said that, if Grimrock switched to TB combat I wouldn't cry over it. Though I think the nature of their puzzles (which happen in real time) would preclude that from ever happening.

I actually am at the very moment. And hey, it's quite cool.

This thread is now about turn-based racing games.

I really liked the puzzles, especially those with better weapons and treasures. Two minotaurs, one insectoid and a rogue(y) had problems with some of them, which required quick reflexes, but they succeeded. Day 1 Purchase.

Whistles "One step forward".

I have no clue why the fuck there's so many people shitting on Grimrock's combat. Did you like Dungeon master/Eye of beholder/Anvil of dawn/... combat? If yes - then why exactly don't you like Grimrock's? If no - then what are you doing in this thread?
