Chapter 18: The Dark Castle
I can't leave like this. They're waiting for me. Master Nathan, Caron, Chella, and the rest. I can't just run away from the past. Even though I hated Vico..I owe it to everyone else to stay and fight alongside them against the Dhorn. That is probably what my father would've wanted.
I turn away from the path and notice a small dirt path leading eastwards. I decided to try my luck by following it.
It's...a castle?
The gate seems to be barred from the other side. I knock on it, hoping there are some helpful occupants within. Perhaps they know another way to the city. After a couple of moments, there's a gruff, male voice on the other side of the door.
'Yeah? Who's there?'
My name is Tina. I'm lost. Could you give me directions, please?
'Hold it where you are.' I can hear footsteps walking away.
A minute later, a face appears in a hole on the ceiling above me, peering at me, and I can hear hushed voices speaking.
'Ah, look, it's just a lone girl.'
'Heheh, she's not gonna be alone for too long...'
'Yeah. Let's get her in.'
LP comment: Looks like we've found some help, after all. Things are looking up for Princess.
The gate opens, and I'm being dragged inside.
LP comment: Man, they're SO eager to help.
Two armed men with grim faces are waiting on the other side of the gate. They eye me up and down. I glance around, too. Oh my. This place really is a ruin...
And who do we have here?
My name's Tina.
And what are you doing out here in the woods, all by yourself?
I'm on my way to Betancuria.
She doesn't look very dangerous.
Hehe, no. Not really. But I like her tits.
The man studies my breasts.
LP comment: Well, if we play nice..maybe he can give directions.
Could you give me directions, perhaps?
Have you come to us because you're lonely, little girl? Have you been dreaming of a fat cock inside you when you put your fingers up your slit at night?
LP comment: Very subtly done, Valine.
Don't talk to me like that!
Hehe. I promise you, we'll service you nicely.
We should take her to the boss, first.
Right. You. Come.
The man grabs my elbow.
Take your filthy hands off me!
Or what?
The man gives me a challenging look. I glance around at the castle ramparts, noticing the two archers above...I'm outnumbered. I have to wait for a chance to escape.
Just don't touch me, okay?
Yeah, whatever. Just come.
The two men guide me into a large tower in the center of the compound where more people are gathered. One pair is busy shooting arrows at an archery target, another group sits at a large table, drinking ale. They all have one thing in common, though. They look wild, and unkempt.
LP comment: Wild men. Rawr. Oh, if you're wondering of the pictures, they're just googled images of 'convicted rapists'
Everyone curiously turns their heads in my direction when they see me enter the building. My two escorts direct me to a strong-looking man who wears an eyepatch over his left eye. Their leader, as it seems.
Yes? What's that?
The man points at me.
We found this buxom girl outside. She was knocking on the gate, so we let the poor thing in.
The man looks me up and down, his face not exactly friendly.
Greetings, good Sir.
I try to be polite. He frowns back at me.
My name is Tina. I was lost in the woods. Perhaps you could give me directions?
Harr, how stupid is that? The road's only a couple of feet away. Hehehe.
Yeah...
The man studies me thoughtfully.
I know where the road is, of course. I'm looking for a way to Betancuria. The bridge to the south has collapsed.
And what is your business in Betancuria?
I'm a kitchen girl. At the Bear's Pit Inn.
Hm. *The man strokes his chin.* You do not exactly look like a kitchen girl to me.
He glances at my short sword, shield and chain shirt.
These are not my working clothes, of course.
You think she's a spy?
Could be. Whatever. *He shrugs.* But I don't want to feed yet another prisoner. Slit her throat. Then sink her in the moat.
I blinked.
What?
We could have a little fun with the chick before we dump her.
I eye the bandits around me. At least five of them...escape is going to be VERY hard.
Yeah, it's been a while since we've had entertainment like that.
The other man at my side runs his hand over my bottom, grinning.
Don't you dare!
I don't care what you do with her. Just see to it that she doesn't leave the castle alive.
Hehe, no worries!
Suddenly I feel a sharp pain at the back of my head, and everything turns black.
When I regain my senses, I'm on the ground. My head throbs and hurts badly. I stifle a groan. Somebody must have knocked me unconscious.
LP comment: No narration about how hard Aisha's nipples are when she comes into contact with the cold, hard floor? No abrasions of her slit on the surface at all? Valine's getting sloppy!
I turn my head slightly and glance about, my eyes only reluctantly focusing on what's going on around me. I'm not alone! Seems like two of the guards aare fumbling around with a nearby wooden device. There's also a cage with a large animal inside. And a weapon rack, not too far away from where I am. That's good to know! Oh, one of the men is cussing loudly.
Ouch! Damn! Fucking latch won't open!
Let me try...
Don't break it.
It's really difficult to concentrate on anything. My head hurts and won't stop spinning.
Ah! There we go!
I focused and willed myself to reach out for a weapon and prepare to fight. I carefully move my arm towards the weapon rack, I grab the short sword and rose to my feet!
Hey! The chick's already awake.
Get the bitch!
This will be a short fight if I make a go at it, I need to flee for now. Recover my gear, and fight them on my own terms.
I bolted for the door, slipping into the midnight rain outside.
The guards lost trace of me in the dark and I made my way into the inner castle building.
The sound of snoring can be heard on the first floor. I picked the nearby chest and was rewarded with three flasks of healing potions.
The four guards are fast asleep. They didn't expect a prisoner to break out from within. I pressed my palm on his mouth and slit the first bandit's throat.
And another, another, and another. Finally, I stripped them of their gear and put on their studded leather armor.
The nearby shield rack provides me with a large shield.
I can either go upstairs, or downstairs. I choose the latter. Hoping to find more prisoners to aid me.
I sneak past the guard and pick the cell's lock.
I closed the cell door behind me and examine the man before me. This man seems to be a prisoner of the bandits. I would guess he's in his late twenties or early thirties. He's clad in a leather armor and thick boots.
You're not a bandit.
No, I'm not.
Thanks a lot for your help.
He smiles at me.
Who are you, may I ask?
I am Anden, a woodsman. I was on my way back to Betancuria when I was caught by this lot. They feigned a broken wheel on their wagon, and when I bent down to examine the damage, they must've knocked me unconscious.
Evil bandits.
Scoundrels. *He nods.* May I ask what your name is, sweet lady?
Uh...Tina.
*He snickers.* If you don't want to tell me, you'll have your own reasons. And what brings you to this castle?
I'm lost...so when I spotted this castle, I was hoping to find somebody who could give me directions.
Oh, really. *He studies me again.* Hm. You're not ranger, are you? At least you're not in the guild.
No, I'm not.
*He nods.* You don't look like you spent a lot of time in the woods. You lack that certain earthy touch.
I'm more of a city gal, I guess.
First time traveling trough wilderness all by yourself>
Yes, and hopefully the last time.
So, you're headed south, you said?
Yes, back to Betancuria.
I should report to my guild as well. What do you say? Shall we travel to the city together? I wouldn't mind company.
The road south is impassable. The bridge across the canyon has collapsed.
I know. It happened a couple of weeks ago. The bridge was badly damaged during the war between the Dhorn and Betancuria, and afterwards it was just a question of time before it came down. I hope the Dhorn are going to repair it soon.
Is there any other way across the canyon.
*He nods.* Why, yes, there is. East of here lies an ancient barrow with a large system of caverns to the south. You will eventually reach the south rim of the canyon if you proceed through the barrow. I'd be happy to show you the way, M'lady.
Sure, that would be nice.
But first, we ought to take care of the bandits. Do you have a spare weapon to lend me, by chance?
I hand him my twin short swords.
LP comment: Anden is a standard ranger, at level 6 he is pretty beefy and is key to surviving most encounters in the forests. He's completely optional if you can find the barrow on your own.
With Anded equipped with arms, we proceed out of the cell and make short work of the lone guard.
Well fought, M'lady.
Anden inclines his head.
You too.
You will have to tell me how you learned to handle yourself so well in combat. Not to mention those other skills of yours. *He smiles.*
I've had a couple of really good teachers who taught me well.
Well, you certainly had no trouble getting the door to my cell open. Believe me, I have tried for hours, alas to no avail.
I can show you how to pick locks, if you like.
*He chuckles.* I don't believe I've got the talent for that. Besides, it is not something one of my profession should engage in.
As you wish.
But it is most fortunate indeed that fate brought you here today.
It was pure chance, really.
Who knows?
He smiles as we make my way up the stairs.
Uh oh. Looks like the scream of the guard awaken the leader from his slumber!
I command Anden to dive in for the kill while I flank the two.
At the last moment, I reveal my position and drove my sword into the leader's back, killing him.
The other brigand followed suit. Our search for more hostiles within the castle proved fruitless, the halls are cleared, and I've recovered my belongings in a locked chest. It's time to clean the ramparts.
I passed my chain shirt to Anden and picked up a light crossbow. I'll shoot from a distance while Anden strike at close range!
The plan worked perfectly, as the guard dogs are slaughtered one by one.
The archer on the ramparts followed suit. Slain by my bolts.
They're no match to our tag team.
Dawn is approaching, a dead man's corpse reminded me of the cruelty of these brigands. My gaze turned at the small building where I escaped from earlier. It's time to finish this.
The two bandits could not withstand our onslaught and succumb to our blades.
Looks like this was the last of them. Excellent. I hope this will make the woods a bit safer again. For a while, at least. I will tell my guild to send scouts, just to be sure. It is really a shame how bold bandits get these days.
They won't harm anybody again.
True enough. Well, let us make our way to Betancuria, shall we?
I nodded my agreement and surveyed the room for any valuables.
The nearby crate unveils healing potions and first aid kids. I spy a lone dog in the cage, a sad fate. Without the bandits around, it will starve to death. I decided to break its cage down.
The mastiff slowly walks up to me, wiggling its tail, sniffing the ground around my feet.
Good boy.
I pat the dog. It glances up at me for a moment, then starts sniffing my feet, prods my legs with its cold nose.
Ack!
I back off in shock. The dog follows me, wiggling its tail and jumps up on me!
Ack!
I try to fend it off. For a couple of minutes we tumble around, the mastiff jumping up on me then again sniffing my groin, trying to get its head between my legs. Finally it seems to give up, though it stays close by my side, wiggling its short tail and glancing up at me.
Bad dog!
I glare at the mastiff. It sits down on its haunches and gives me a curious look.
You really shouldn't do that, you know.
The dog starts sniffing my feet again. Hm. I don't think I'll get rid of it that easily...
LP comment: The Dog is basically a basic fighter, with decent Hp to be a cannon fodder. And no, you can't fuck the dog. If you don't resist enough, it'll cum on the princess's thigh.
The sky brightens as we emerge from the small building. I hit the switch to lower the draw bridge and leave the dead bandits' castle behind.
I must speak with you.
What is it, Anden?
We ought to stick to the shore south of the castle, M'lady. The barrow is an hour or so to the east, deep in the woods.
Maybe we should find a place to rest first, Anden.
We could probably rest at the abandoned inn to the south, if that is your wish.
Yes, let's do so.
We head towards to the abandoned inn. The mastiff keeps following on my heels, sniffing my bottom every now and then. The road to Betancuria doesn't seem so lonely anymore.
