Considering how hard Marvel 4 flopped I doubt Marvel 5 was in any development stages worth revealing this year

The Marvel collection bundle is nice and Marvel 2 was certainly the reason why but the success was too early for a new Marvel game to be made

It would’ve already been in development before the Marvel vs Capcom collection was announced. I know Capcom does this thing where they say they’ll have to wait and see how some rerelease does before they think about doing some new thing. But that’s bullshit. The “Capcom Test” as it was called isn’t a real thing. They said the same thing about the Xbox Live Arcade release of Marvel vs Capcom 2 being a test to see if Marvel vs Capcom 3 would happen. Meanwhile you find out after Marvel vs Capcom 3 comes out that actually the game had been in development a year before the Xbox Live Arcade MvC2 release.

If Capcom negotiated a deal to do this big new rerelease of all their Capcom arcade games, they likely also made a deal for a new Marvel vs Capcom game. And if we’re getting the collection now to drum up hype for Marvel vs Capcom as a series, a new Marvel vs Capcom is probably pretty quick to follow...or at least a reveal.

do we get a reveal for the next MvC game during the upcoming Game Awards show? I think we probably do, but it also seems like something they could just wait until June for.
The best case scenario is they announce that one is in development with no actual release date. I believe that they'll announce such a game during the latter half of SF6's lifespan, when the money would dwindle the most, I don't see them trying to juggle 2 massive fighting games at once, especially when Tekken X Street Fighter might be in the works too.

If the lifespan of Street Fighter 6 is anything like Street Fighter 5 they aren’t waiting until the latter half of it to release the next Marvel vs Capcom game. Anyways, by 2026 Street Fighter 6 will have already been out for three years.

Capcom doesn’t do announces like that anymore. When Capcom announces a game now it comes with a release date that’s usually about a year away.

Tekken X Street Fighter doesn’t really sound like it’s happening anymore. That game also has nothing to do with Capcom beyond having their characters in it.

I would find it extremely unusual that Capcom wouldn't at least try/probe offer what Disney wants for a new MVC when contacting the needed parties in order to do the MVC re-release. However there's still a significant chance negotiations just simply weren't successful (e.g., Disney wanted too much money, or wanted some garbage that would be way too expensive to implement) but they could agree to a simple re-release.

My guess would be that Marvel Games came to Capcom and suggested a new Marvel vs Capcom game, (like they did with Firaxis Games, which lead to their Midnight Suns game) and that part of the deal was this big collection Capcom recently released. Marvel has been gearing up for MCU X-Men since Disney bought Fox, and a new Marvel vs Capcom is probably part of they little publicity cycle just like X-Men ‘97 was.

I’m not sure Capcom has ever just done rereleases of their Marvel stuff without having the rights to do a new game. The Xbox Live Arcade version of Marvel vs Capcom 2 came out while Marvel vs Capcom 3 was in-development, that little Marvel vs Capcom Origins collection happened why they still had the Marvel license for MvC3, and the Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 rerelease happened while they had the license for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. If they aren’t doing a new Marvel vs Capcom, this would be the first time they did a rerelease without having a new Marvel game development...assuming the 2002 Xbox and PS2 release of Marvel vs Capcom 2 still happened within the window where they didn’t have to make a new deal to release their arcade game that came out two years earlier.

Sometimes you also get someone in at Marvel Games that just really wants a new Marvel vs Capcom to happen. The guy that was running Marvel Games that made the deal for MvC3 to happen seemed to really want that game to happen and was working to get it to happen. He was so hyped about that game he accidentally leaked it (or at least very strongly suggested it would happen) at a Comic-Con Capcom was at showing off Street Fighter 4 before it came out. Marvel Games even pulled the Marvel fighting game license from EA while EA was making that Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects sequel Marvel: Chaos...or at least that seems to be the case given the development timelines and an old developer interview about Marvel pulling the licenses for what was at that time unknown reasons.

I enjoyed KOFXV, but is anyone still playing it? Vice and Mature were announced eons ago, sometimes I don't understand why it takes so long for FG devs to churn a character out. I'm not up to speed on the current meta but based in the trailer their moveset looks pretty unreactable.

It could be that SNK is a smaller studio that’s main focus is already on other new projects.

It also just seems like the characters were set to release alongside a host of balance changes for all the characters and The King of Fighters XV Ultimate Edition. They’re basically releasing a new final version of the game that comes with all the DLC, and they’re adding to more characters to the game to finish things off.
