Chevon is derived from the French word for goat, chèvre, but it's not in use in French; we're just using Goat Meat. On the other hand meunière is a French recipe for fish and sauteed is derived from a French word describing how the meat is cooked.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll be back with the next part soon. :)

Update 98: Chapter 7 - Rescue Mission (part 1)

Reese and his troops arrive near Turon under cover of darkness:

part1hpjid.jpg

Immediately to the south, there are three searchable houses. The last one is probably Maris's house, based on the description he gave to Czene.

part2cfk07.jpg

Vester and some knights are being held prisoner in the courtyard of the fort.

part3dbkt8.jpg

There are three gates blocking passage, and the fort is surrounded by cliffs, with a one-hex chokepoint as the only route in.

part40mj9y.jpg

The town itself is to the northwest, along with the escape point. Notably, there are three shops and a church.

part5rfjke.jpg

There is another building of interest to the southwest, next to a forest.

part6k3ji1.jpg

After a quick rearranging of positions, the rescue attempt begins:

part7yzjy7.jpg

Ward: Even in the darkness, we should take care to avoid alerting the Bornian soldiers for as long as possible.

Reese: Agreed, though we'll have to fight them eventually. Our information indicates that Lord Vester is being captive inside the fort.

Ward: With no small amount of soldiers keeping him there, no doubt. We cannot afford any mistakes here.

Reese: Of course. Give the signal, Ward.

Inside the fort, the Bornian commander addresses his sentries at the edge of the courtyard:

part85ajm0.jpg

Nielsen: If one of them makes a break for it, put his head on a pike. The Empire will not allow them to live much longer, anyway.

part9vzjaj.jpg

Nielsen: Me, a traitor? I am now, and have always been, a loyal servant of Duke Reed. Tell me, who was it who defied him and tried to flee to enemy lines? Curs like you must be dealt with as the law of Bornia prescribes.

Vester: Father is not in his right mind! He's been corrupted by Almachus! That man is an Imperial spy, surely you must see it?!

Nielsen: Lord Vester, this childishness does not befit a man of your station. You bring scandal upon your father and upon the whole Duchy of Bornia. The only reason you still live is that the people pleaded with His Grace - or rather, with Governor General Almachus - to let you live. You should be thankful to him for his mercy with regards to your fate.

part10kbkdb.jpg

Vester: So that's the script he's written for me, is it? You shameless dogs! You've betrayed Bornia... No, the entire Berwick League!

Nielsen: The days of the Berwick League are numbered. The Goddess has abandoned us. There is only one who can save us from the coming judgement now, and it is Father Raze. At least, so say the priests. For me, it just means keeping a different statue on the altar.

Vester: You'll regret this, Nielsen... You don't know the horrors those heathens are capable of...

Hmm... it seems Vester doesn't have much support for his rebellion inside Bornia, even if the population respects him as the successor to Reed. Nielsen's comments imply that at least some leaders have defected willingly, and that the clergy have begun converting to worship Raze instead of Veria.

part1145j0g.jpg

Guess I'll have to detour to the southwest for Karmell's lost property.

part124kj0t.jpg

As the chapter introduction implied, we're on a deadline. Getting maximum tactics points for this mission requires escorting all of Vester's group to safety. Vester and his men will make a run for it as soon as you break the gate to the courtyard. Another important thing to note is that they start on low hp, so your cleric should be ready to heal them.

Czene heads off to investigate the houses in the southeast.

part13lzktn.jpg

Volo and Sherpa take point, immediately coming under attack from the Bornian garrison:

part140zk3b.jpg

Sherpa successfully counterattacks a spearman with his Estoc.

part15yyjrz.jpg

That takes him to level 15.

part16ubjgf.jpg

An axeman meets the same fate shortly afterwards.

part17lkjsb.jpg

Sherlock and Christine provide support with their bows, but don't get a kill:

part181xk1n.jpg

Reese advances to cut down the next enemy with Gram.

part19pmjx6.jpg

On turn 2, Elbert dismounts and lures the nearest Bornian soldier towards him.

part20bykps.jpg

Reese avoids crossbow fire and switches to his longsword to retaliate.

part21j5k9p.jpg

The advance is temporarily delayed, until an arrow removes the problem:

part221zjpv.jpg

Arthur takes point on turn 3, as more opposition is spotted at the fort entrance.

part23jgkdt.jpg

A mercenary with above average stats goes after Elbert.

i
part242gkpt.jpg

part25k8kab.jpg

He also has adept, so using deathmatch against him wouldn't be a good idea.

Update 99: Chapter 7 - Rescue Mission (part 2)

Elbert guts the axeman with his spear:

part142j9a.jpg

A decent level-up.

part2yhkm3.jpg

Sherpa readies his Estoc and duels Lebrus.

part3p0ktc.jpg

With a path to the fort now clear, the party advances. Christine fires a shot into the gate, weakening it slightly.

Czene searches the first house, and after an inconclusive knife fight, her opponent flees.

part4ubj2p.jpg

Turns out there were valuables inside.

part5noj1i.jpg

Next turn, Czene moves first, looking into the second house. This time she gets hit, but survives the scuffle.

part68ujyr.jpg

Sherpa moves forward to break the first gate open with his brymranger:

part792kb2.jpg

He comes under arrow fire immediately.

part84ajtn.jpg

Elbert charges forward to occupy the open gate and strike at the Bornian archer.

part9mij92.jpg

Sherlock has double-shot available, so he takes aim at a nearby spearman with his longbow.

part10z3jxw.jpg

Another archer moves forward and Sherlock is hit himself. I decide that Sherpa needs assistance first, and direct Owen to use physic:

part113lj6c.jpg

The raze priest heals almost all of the damage that Elbert inflicted on the archer up front.

part124ek22.jpg

On turn 5, Sherlock takes a potshot and retreats to safety. Sherpa is struck again by an arrow, while Elbert blocks with his shield.

Perceval uses thunder to good effect.

part13ybk9d.jpg

Czene uses her vulnerary before checking the third house.

part146dj5w.jpg

Elbert makes another spear attack, and cantos out of the way, so Arthur can take out a second archer.

part15bsjes.jpg

The latter is then struck by cavalry charging from inside the second wall.

part16hekb2.jpg

Owen heals Sherpa again, so I can have him use guard on Arthur at the end of the turn.

part17sejua.jpg

The spear cavalry attacks, and activates adept, but Sherpa dodges the second attempt and successfully counterattacks. Unfortunately his estoc gives out in the process.

part180yjnq.jpg

Sherlock has the one-two skill available this turn, so after Owen heals him, he is ordered to eliminate a bowman:

part19rmkbl.jpg

The bottleneck prevents anyone else from getting an attack in, so they wait until turn 6.

Elbert moves in first, while Christine gets lucky and injures a knight.

part20fikje.jpg

The former draws enough attention that his spear is broken in the ensuing melee.

part21qnksr.jpg

Sherpa switches to another sword and falls back, along with Arthur. Czene searches the last house and encounters a thief:

part22zbkm4.jpg

Again, after exchanging blows, her opponent makes a run for it. She retrieves Maris's keepsake.

part23egkyg.jpg

Two more hits from Sherlock and Elbert (throwing a verutum) leave the enemy knight vulnerable to capture.

Update 100: Chapter 7 - Rescue Mission (part 3)

I'm still blocked from attacking with most of the group, so Christine and Perceval get a try this turn. Sherpa guards the latter just in case:

part1drjqm.jpg

Czene moves to regroup with the rest of the party. Next turn, Elbert re-mounts, attacks and then falls back.

part2rjkgq.jpg

Enemy cavalry immediately exploits the gap, but Sherpa dodges the charge and counters. Sherlock takes care of the rest.

part3k8jxe.jpg

Sherpa is hit by a spear, but his assailant soon learns his mistake.

part471j67.jpg

As Gram is almost broken, Reese switches to a longsword and then moves into the fort to capture the wounded knight:

part58sk6r.jpg

Level 10 is meager, but this is a low stats game and Reese's bracketing is the opposite of narrow.

part6edk7k.jpg

Nielsen is waiting behind the next gate.

part7qkju1.jpg

He's not a threat offensively but he has unusually high bulk, and commander/shieldfaire. Perceval will be useful for dispatching him quickly.

Christine cuts down the next spearman with her iron bow:

part8yljms.jpg

Further attacks from Arthur and Volo clear the final soldier on this side.

part9b6kat.jpg

Next turn, Sherpa and Elbert break open the second gate.

part10fhkbe.jpg

Perceval casts dire thunder at Nielsen.

part112jkcg.jpg

He is injured by enemy magic in return:

part12yrkho.jpg

Volo deathmatches Nielsen, killing him in the fourth round of combat.

part13e7k5s.jpg

17 speed, nice.

part14b4jcg.jpg

Gilgamesh (not the Sumerian king) is soon overwhelmed and struck down.

part156njno.jpg

Sherlock hasn't moved yet this turn, so he gets to watch the road for reinforcements:

part16h2ks4.jpg

The third and final gate is breached.

part17kvj7x.jpg

Since I reached the prisoners quickly, escaping will be a lot easier.

part1845jec.jpg

part19dsj3o.jpg

Vester's knight: Actually, milord, their messenger said they were the Knights of Sinon.

Vester: The Knights of Sinon?! Who's commanding them?

Vester's knight: Lord Reese of Sinon, it seems.

Vester: Oh? Margrave Bernstol's son, then? I'll have to thank him properly once this is all over. All units, prepare to escape! Head west out of town, and then we'll take the northern road to Narvia! As long as I'm alive, I won't allow a single one of you to die! Is that understood, men?

Vester's knight: Yes, Lord Vester!

That means Vester will wait for the rest of his men to escape the area first. Time to move out:

part20cek6g.jpg

Elbert encounters an archer that had been stacking battle cry.

part21eok3k.jpg

Unfortunately, Sherlock's double shot doesn't succeed in removing the threat. Arthur and Christine advance to support him, as an axeman emerges from the darkness.

part22nbjyg.jpg

Sherpa stays back with Vester's group, while everyone else heads for the town as quickly as possible. Owen steps forward to ensure Elbert's safety:

part23ojkgo.jpg

Inconveniently, the archer who did the damage retreats out of view, and trades with a fellow soldier for a concoction.

part24ofjsp.jpg

A crossbow shot eliminates the only enemy left in sight.

part2576kc0.jpg

That gives Christine enough xp for a level-up:

Update 101: Chapter 7 - Rescue Mission (part 4)

Situation is looking good at the halfway point of the mission. Vester's group are still a few turns away from the town, so there's time to clear out the defenders.

part1khkfu.jpg

Arthur and Reese move in first to eliminate the retreating bowman:

part2r9jtv.jpg

With spare movement to canto forward, Reese spots more Bornians waiting in nearby buildings.

part312jzd.jpg

This crossbowman on overwatch is a serious threat, so I'll be targeting him soon.

part4dajqc.jpg

For my first move on turn 13, Volo takes out the Guardian with deathmatch.

part5s6j5s.jpg

Owen keeps himself busy by healing Vester's knights.

part6lwj3z.jpg

After some help from Reese and company, Perceval's thunder magic eliminates the axe guard:

part7hojwt.jpg

Sherlock and Christine outrange the crossbowman with their bows, and Elbert throws a verutum to finish up here.

part8anka6.jpg

On turn 14, horses are heard approaching from the south. The Bornian garrison must have called for reinforcements.

part9zbk00.jpg

Reese and Arthur's scouting at the end of the last turn revealed more enemies waiting near the escape point. Arthur makes a quick hit-and-run attack on them:

part10mdjdt.jpg

This knight is somewhat tougher than the rest.

part11n5kk1.jpg

Qadi responds to Arthur's attack. The hit breaks the latter's kiteshield.

part12s5kmz.jpg

As the Sinon Knights converge on the enemy, Czene takes care of some purchases. The first shop in Turon sells two crafting materials:

part13y3juq.jpg

I take both, then resume the business of dealing with Qadi. He blocks some arrow fire with his shield, and Reese falls just short of a kill. Gram is out of commission as well.

part14h5j06.jpg

The sounds of horses galloping signal more cavalry in the east, on turn 15. Arthur is vulnerable with only 14hp left, so I have him act first.

part15kzjap.jpg

His longsword also breaks in the process, but he'll be falling back for healing anyway.

Adept allows Reese to eliminate a spearman in one combat round:

part16iwk9z.jpg

Spear cavalry from the south advances into view, so Christine equips her Gastraphetes and some bronze+ arrows to make the usual hit-and-run attack.

part17xxkd7.jpg

There is still one more crossbowman lurking close by on overwatch.

part1875jli.jpg

Czene checks out the weapon shop.

part19cjjg4.jpg

I'll buy all of these except the longspear, given that stock in Navaron is limited per chapter.

Arthur is now ready to get back into the action next turn:

part20bxj5o.jpg

Hmm, I need to send someone back there to cover Vester.

part21wvj2e.jpg

Perceval needs some more xp, so I let him take this guy out.

part22q8jcp.jpg

More thunder skill is welcome. He needs to be at 30 (and level 15) to promote.

part23ipki5.jpg

Sherlock uses double-shot to clear our escape route:

part24u2kak.jpg

Additional Bornian troops are heard advancing on the southern road.

Update 102: Chapter 7 - Rescue Mission (part 5)

Sherlock visits Columban's house:

part12cj9a.jpg

Sherlock: Hm...? It doesn't look like anyone's been here for weeks... What's this on the table...?

part2y5j1z.jpg

Enemy cavalry emerges from the darkness.

part3z7jou.jpg

Czene heads over to the third shop, which sells miscellaneous items.

part46hjju.jpg

I take the sedatives, salts and HP potion.

Elbert gets a crit:

part5cujlq.jpg

Perceval spots a horse archer to the southwest.

part6b7kvz.jpg

Reese and Christine sweep in to eliminate the threat. The latter acquires a horse in the process.

part7hyjly.jpg

part7_1fhj41.jpg

Arthur equips another shield and continues with escort duty.

part8mkkfb.jpg

Launching the operation at night has proven effective, the enemy response is scattered. The first of Vester's knights escapes:

part93fjyt.jpg

Owen reaches level 16 from healing Vester.

part10d4j4e.jpg

Reese, Volo, Percy and Christine cover the road by the inn.

part115hk1t.jpg

Elbert and Arthur continue to stand guard on the eastern side of town. Next turn, another Bornian soldier enters their line of sight.

part12zdk9z.jpg

They both move in to attack, but only Arthur succeeds in doing damage.

part130qks2.jpg

Volo enters the inn to ask for Karmell's lost costume:

part14wfjgk.jpg

Townsperson: ...You're here for the theatre troupe? Ah, you must be looking for the costume that they left! I was wondering when they were going to come and get it. Here you go!

part15zkky8.jpg

Reese spots a Bornian soldier, who immediately advances to strike at him. Christine arrives to provide support.

part16tcjl7.jpg

Vester and the rest of his men are now safe.

part17sqjhi.jpg

More Bornian troops are heard in the distance. Elbert throws a verutum and hits his target:

part18hhkyg.jpg

Unfortunately, the enemy evades Arthur and retreats out of view.

Perceval uses his thunder spell to good effect.

part19uzk8h.jpg

It takes two more hits, from Christine and then Reese, to put this guy down.

part2095kcb.jpg

They use canto to fall back, and Volo joins them:

part216fj9u.jpg

Elbert finally kills the spear cavalry that was proving troublesome earlier.

part220jjyc.jpg

It's turn 20 now, so Owen makes his exit.

part23z4j0q.jpg

Everyone else converges near the escape point.

Update 103: Chapter 7 - Rescue Mission (part 6)

On turn 21, Reese reminds us that we need to leave soon:

part1fzk1w.jpg

More reinforcements come into view.

part2x6j51.jpg

Elbert fights some spear cavalry, while Sherpa guards Perceval.

part3x9j5s.jpg

Reese notches up another kill.

part4d3kg3.jpg

Sherlock moves forward to engage the crossbowman. Double shot and one-two are available, so the target doesn't stand a chance.

part5p8kke.jpg

Overwatch will make him strong defensively as well.

part6w2kg1.jpg

Turn 22 now. More Bornian soldiers arrive:

part7dwkpo.jpg

None of them are currently visible, so I move everyone back to the escape point and put Sherlock on overwatch.

Next turn, Czene is ordered to evacuate first.

part8ymkri.jpg

Elbert attacks the enemy cavalry that just came into view, then uses canto to retreat.

part9vpkvk.jpg

As the infantry withdraw, Reese makes an attack but doesn't connect. He is struck in return and thus cannot use canto.

part10k9j8f.jpg

Fortunately, he does avoid Martin's lance charge:

part11ryj08.jpg

Which is good, because that was potentially 30+ damage.

part121wjp3.jpg

Arthur manages to inflict an injury.

part13d2kui.jpg

Elbert holds off a different mounted unit on turn 24:

part14oskza.jpg

He continues to act as a rearguard as the rest of his comrades escape.

part15ovkwg.jpg

There are still some stragglers around, but I'm out of time to chase them.

part16jhjng.jpg

As the troops return to Navaron, Vester talks to Reese.

part175ej84.jpg

part18makeq.jpg

Vester: Ha ha ha... Stiff, but dependable! Just like General Bernstol. Much more respectable than those brown-nosing page-boys the royal family likes to keep around...

Reese: You're familiar with the people of the royal capital, Lord Vester?

Vester: When I was younger, I studied there for about five years. When I first got there, I was amazed at the city's magnificence and beauty... but beauty is only skin-deep. You only had to look a little closer to see how ugly the place really was. Take that Padolf's moronic son, for instance...

He cuts himself off abruptly.

Vester: Wait, this isn't the time for idle chatter... I need to meet with the Duke.

part18_2d5j02.jpg

At the office, Reese, Ward and Tianna discuss events:

part195rkmb.jpg

Reese: He's quite an outspoken man. A daring and free spirit. He seemed to know you, as well.

Tianna: Yes... We've met...

Reese: He said he would stop by later. It also sounded like he wanted to see you in particular...

Tianna becomes silent.

Reese: Tianna...?

Tianna: A-Ah! I almost forgot! I haven't finished cleaning your room yet, Lord Reese. Excuse me...

part20aakw0.jpg

She sheepishly re-enters the office.

part214rj75.jpg

After she leaves, Reese and Ward exchange puzzled looks.

part22qqjr5.jpg

Update 104: Chapter 7 - Rescue Mission (ending)

Later that day:

part1xikwo.jpg

Rosalie: It says that today is her mother's birthday, so she'd like to take some time off to pay her a visit...

Reese: Do you know when she will be returning?

Rosalie: I'm sorry, I don't... She seemed to be in a hurry...

They are then interrupted by a guest.

part218ks7.jpg

Vester: We've got lots to talk about, and drinks are on me tonight! Ward, you should come, too!

Ward: Hah, that sounds like a good time! We will have to take you up on-

He pauses, noticing something unusual.

Ward: Lord Vester, why are you carrying a bouquet of roses?

Vester: Oh, these? They're for Tianna, of course. Where is my darling, anyway? I haven't heard seen her in more than half a year.

Reese: Your... darling...?

Ward: I-It can't be...

Rosalie: Um... Were the two of you not aware...?

Ward: Are you saying you were, Rosalie?

part3n8j2y.jpg

Rosalie: Well, no... But when a lady wears a diamond ring on her finger, it seems pretty clear she's taken...

Reese: She wears a ring? Did you ever notice, Ward?

Ward: No, I didn't... Though I suppose I shouldn't be so surprised. A beautiful woman like her must have more than a few gentleman callers vying for her hand...

Rosalie: ("More than a few"?)

part420kr2.jpg

Reese: Oh, I'm sorry. Unfortunately, Tianna had some urgent business to attend to. I imagine she will return tomorrow, although...

Vester: Oh... Guess it can't be helped. I can wait another day, I suppose. Well, Lord Reese, when the two of you are ready, find me at my house. You'll always be welcome there!

He makes his way out, and the discussion about Tianna's "engagement" continues.

part5rhjcz.jpg

Ward: To think that she will one day be the Duchess of Bornia, but she hid something so important from us? Lady Tianna certainly likes to keep us in the dark...

Rosalie: General Ward, please don't speak ill of Lady Tianna like that! You have no right to judge her for having her own private life!

Ward: Y-Yes, you're right... I spoke rather rashly... I did not truly mean any slight against Lady Tianna, but it was a rather rude thing to say nonetheless...

part6vhjnf.jpg

Normally I'd raise an eyebrow at that out-of-character apology from Ward, but it fits here. Rosalie was trying to shoo Vester away by saying Tianna was taken, but it backfired and ended up having the opposite effect.

Humourous misunderstandings aside, Tianna's absence does have a gameplay impact.

part7slkc8.jpg

Rosalie will replace her until the end of the next mission, and no promotions can take place until then, since Tianna needs to be present at the ceremonies.

I receive 620D in ransom for the soldier captured during Vester's rescue:

part8nej9w.jpg

Now, let's wrap up the citizen requests for this chapter.

part8_2j3ksm.jpg

part9owksp.jpg

Bluck: Thanks for your trouble. How was Columban?

Sherlock is unsure how to break the news, and doesn't offer an answer.

Bluck: Well? How was he, Sherlock?

Sherlock: ...The house was empty. The only things left were the arrowheads and this letter.

Bluck silently acknowledges his response, taking the letter.

part102vjec.jpg

part11s5ko7.jpg

part12skjqy.jpg

Bluck: Columban, you old fool... You've really... gone on ahead and left me behind...

Sherlock: Bluck, I...

Bluck: Y'know, it was thanks to Columban that I managed to become a bowyer in the first place. We had different goals, but we still helped each other, and we understood each other... Most of the time, anyway. More than once, we argued from sundown to sunup... Heh... I'd probably get sick if I tried to do that today...

Sherlock: Sounds like he was a good friend.

Bluck: Yeah, he was... Well, I'll be damned if I don't fulfill his last request! I'll take these arrowheads, and I'll make the best arrows this world has ever seen!

Some hours later...

part134ijjl.jpg

Bluck: (How's that, Columban? Think I did a good job?)

Sherlock: I can see why they're called the thunder-god's arrows... Look at how they shine...!

Bluck: Our last collaboration... Sherlock, I want you to have them. You made it possible, after all.

Sherlock: I can't take something so precious from you...

Bluck: Nah, it's what Columban would want. Arrows are meant to be used, right?

Sherlock: Thank you... I'll employ them well.

part14r6ko6.jpg

That's actually a bundle of 20 arrows, which is nice. Next, we hand over Karmell's lost property.

part15wckgu.jpg

Rosalie: Something came up, so I'm here in her place.

Karmell: Oh, I see. Well, thank you all the same! Please take this as repayment for your generosity.

Rosalie: I'm sorry, I can't take that... If I do, Lady Tianna will scold me.

Karmell: No, no, I can't simply leave you unrewarded for your efforts! Take it, I insist!

part16sjjyn.jpg

Karmell: By the way, I have good news. We've already been contracted for our next job.

part172qkc5.jpg

Rosalie: (Barselphon... Have I heard that name before...?)

Hmm... Guess he's still around in Narvia somewhere.

part1804j5k.jpg

Maris: Thank you so much!

Czene: It was a bit tough, but I'm just glad to see you happy.

part19n9knj.jpg

I have to admit, I was as surprised as Czene when I saw this. Kaga is quick to remind us that war sucks in pretty much of all his stories. That said, the player is usually able to make some difference in this respect.

part20pej5t.jpg

Liz: Maris! Thank the Goddess you're alive!

Maris: The same to you! You were bleeding so badly... I thought the soldiers had killed you!

Liz: I only escaped by playing dead. After they left, I tried to get away... but I couldn't catch up to you with my injured leg. Luckily, the Narvian Army helped me. I've been recovering at the abbey here for the last month.

part20_28pkms.jpg

Liz: Even though I had no money, they cared for me just the same. I wanted to repay them somehow, so I started helping out, too. During my time off, I've been looking around the city for you... and now, here you are...!

Maris: Liz... I'm so happy you're alive! I-I've been so alone...

Liz: I'm sorry, Maris... It must have been awful...

part219hk7h.jpg

Maris: Well... When I thought you'd died, I was going to go back to Turon to get the hat you made for me...

Liz: You were going to go back?!

Maris: Yeah... But this nice lady went all the way there and got it for me.

Liz: She did all that...?

She steps over to Czene.

Liz: It seems my little brother has caused you quite a bit of trouble.

Czene: It's no big deal. I'm happy to see a smile on his face.

Liz: My brother and I are deeply indebted to you. I wish I could thank you somehow...

Czene: Nah, don't worry about it.

Maris: Here, this is for you, Miss.

part229fjuc.jpg

Maris: One of the soldiers dropped it when we ran into them. I was gonna keep it, but I want you to have it instead.

Czene: Are you sure?

Maris: I've got my big sister back. I don't need anything else.

:)

Czene: All right, then. I'll take it gladly.

Maris: Thanks again, Miss.

Liz: Yes! Thank you very much!

Czene: Don't mention it. Take care, you two!

part23wdjqj.jpg

The next update will be a story-focused one, as some of our gallant warriors face trials and tribulations. We'll also meet a new face. ;)

RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
Ward: Y-Yes, you're right... I spoke rather rashly... I did not truly mean any slight against Lady Tianna, but it was a rather rude thing to say nonetheless...

part6vhjnf.jpg

:D Ward getting whipped.

And it's another sub plot! I wonder why Tianna reacted as she did. Also apparently she was the one to give the info to Reese, leading to this mission. mhh.

Rosalie: (Barselphon... Have I heard that name before...?)

So who wanna bet the play's for a wedding and we're going to crash it?

Those side-quest conclusions were really cool.

Not sure... I don't recall her explaining it when she comes back. Anything I say would just be a guess.

Those side-quest conclusions were really cool.

I do have some minor complaints about the writing later on, but the citizen requests are generally very well done, along with the character subplots. Even though this game has a cast size approaching Game of Thrones levels (over 500 unique portraits are in the files), cutscenes are kept to a reasonable length, too.

Update 105: Chapter 7 - Rescue Mission (Interludes, part 1)

There are several scenes here, so I'll split these into two separate updates.

part1smjni.jpg

part2aoktr.jpg

The city guard arrives to escort Arthur from the guild.

part37qkip.jpg

Chief Guardsman: It has come to light that your father, Sir Harold, may have defected to the Raze Empire.

Arthur: That's ridiculous!

Chief Guardsman: Until the truth becomes apparent, we cannot allow you to compromise the safety of the Berwick League.

Arthur: There must be some mistake here! My father would never betray his homeland!

Chief Guardsman: Just doing my job, Arthur. Leave this country by nightfall, or you will suffer the consequences.

Arthur: (Father...)

part4owjv7.jpg

Defender: Yes...?

Ward: What are those men doing?

Defender: We've received orders to banish that knight from the Duchy of Narvia.

Reese arrives on the scene.

part5mxklu.jpg

Arthur: Lord Reese...?

The city guards step aside, and Arthur turns around to talk to Reese.

Reese: Arthur, these guards have no authority to banish one of the knights of Sinon, nor the family of one.

Arthur: What...?

Ward: Lord Reese is inviting you to join the Order of the Knights of Sinon! What say you, Arthur?

Arthur: M-Me, a knight of Sinon?!

Ward: Is there a problem? Would you rather flee the country?

Arthur: No, sir! I am honoured by your generosity!

part62ek3i.jpg

Reese: Arthur, from this day forth, you shall be counted among the Order of the Knights of Sinon. As my subjects, you and your family will now be under my protection.

Arthur: But milord, will we not be an inconvenience to you...?

Reese: You have nothing to worry about. I have taken care of everything. Duke Roswick has already given his approval to this course of action.

Ward: Someday, the truth about your father may come to light, but that is no longer any of your concern. You are a knight of Sinon now. Serving your liege comes first.

Arthur: Yes, General Ward! I understand!

Mark: Brother... You don't have to leave anymore?

Sabrina: Oh, Arthur...

part75wk19.jpg

That's our first mercenary recruitment. Not to mention some badass legal manuevering by Reese.

Now for an introduction:

part8nbkwv.jpg

part9p4jad.jpg

Ah, here's the man himself.

part10bzk3k.jpg

Burroughs quietly walks up to Klamp while the latter is still talking.

Burroughs: HEY!

Klamp: Aahh!

part11hqjt1.jpg

Burroughs: C'mon, let's go get a drink.

Klamp: I can't. Bianca's already making dinner back at the house.

Burroughs: Hey now, who's more important to you, eh? Your sister or your friend?

Klamp glares at him.

Burroughs: ...Sorry, that was out of line.

Older man: Mr. Klamp... If that's all, I think I'll be off for today.

Klamp: Yeah, see you. Good work today.

part12cvjmp.jpg

Burroughs: Huh...

Later that evening, they visit Alex's tavern for drinks.

part13xrjjj.jpg

Burroughs: If you don't babyin' her, she's gonna wind up messed up, y'know? Can't go through life countin' on her cute face to take care of her...

Klamp: .....Hic!... Nah, that's the thing!

Burroughs: Eh?

Klamp: Bianca... She's pretty, she's smart, she's cheerful, she's... uh...hic!

Burroughs: (Not this again...)

Klamp: Tha'sss why I'm worried 'bout her, y'know? I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if she wound up married to some no-good sleazeball...

part14v6k9s.jpg

Klamp: Our dad... Boy, what a loser he was... He was never around, so I had to be the man of the house... I had to be the one to take care of her... and I'm the only one who can do it right, you got that?!

Burroughs: Yeah, yeah, I got it...

Klamp: Good! .....Hic! ...Alex! 'Nother round!

part15qzks0.jpg

Burroughs: Hey now, relax...

A young woman enters the tavern and steps up behind Klamp.

part16a3k0x.jpg

Bianca: Burroughs! You know my brother is hopeless about his drinking! Why would you bring him to an awful place like this?!

Alex: (...Do you people come in here just to badmouth my bar?)

Bianca: Come on, Klamp! We're going home!

Klamp: ...Sure...

Burroughs: (I suppose she's not always as cheerful as you say, eh Klamp?)

Klamp: Hey, Burroughs...

Burroughs: Yeah?

Klamp: You might be no good... but you're good in my book. So if anythin' ever happens t' me, I'm leavin' Bianca t' you, got it?

part17jhjh0.jpg

Burroughs: I got it, Klamp. Just go home and get some sleep now, all right?

Klamp: Yeah...

Burroughs: Sorry about all this, Bianca.

Bianca: Honestly, do you ever do anything besides cause trouble? Why do you have to associate yourself with my brother? You should just leave him alone!

Burroughs: ...And there's the lovely personality he was talking about.

Bianca: Did you say something?

Burroughs: I said, you're a good sister, taking your brother home like this.

Bianca: ...Right. Shouldn't you be going home, too?

Update 106: Chapter 7 - Rescue Mission (Interludes, part 2)

part1oaktq.jpg

Ophelia is setting up for a performance.

part2xak7x.jpg

She is interrupted by a priest, however:

part3hvk5l.jpg

Priest: But I've finally found you, Witch of Soleil!

Ophelia: ...!

Priest: My good people, you must not trust anything this woman has told you! The melodies that come from her lyre are meant to bewitch and befuddle, that she might steal your life-force!

Ophelia: Ah...! I...

Priest: None must ever forget what you did to the people of Soleil! Are you planning to drain the life of the people here, too?! My good people, do not let this woman deceive you!

part4yykcn.jpg

Priest: I will not allow you to consume the lives of our citizens!

Ophelia flees the tavern.

part5dwkvw.jpg

Sherlock: What is wrong with you?! Why would you say something so ridiculous and hurtful? One more word, and I'll knock some sense into you personally! I don't care if you're a priest!

Priest: Hm... Has she beguiled you with her looks and her charms? Then let me make this quite clear: That woman is a witch who stole the lives of many people in Soleil! If you will not believe it from me, then ask the culprit directly!

Sherlock: ...Get out of my way.

As he leaves, the clientele discuss the priest's speech.

Bystander: Did he say she's a witch...?

Bystander #2: Y'think it could be true? They do say the pretty ones are the ones to be most afraid of...

part6h7jf3.jpg

Ophelia: I'm sorry... I'm sorry...!

Sherlock: Ophelia, please! Just come outside!

Ophelia: Everything he said about me... It's all true...

Sherlock: What?! I won't believe it... That's a lie, Ophelia...!

Ophelia: Sherlock... Please, go home. Otherwise, I don't know what will happen to you...

Sherlock: O-Ophelia...

part7m3j4n.jpg

Sherlock responds with an expression of disbelief.

Priest: Judging by your face, it seems you've realized it. Everything I said was the truth.

Sherlock: Explain something to me. How exactly can she be a witch?

Priest: Hm... Have you been merely deceived, or has she robbed your heart as well? Pitiable fool...

Sherlock: Answer my question.

Priest: I have no reason to respond to the vulgar words of a man like yourself.

part841kfz.jpg

Well, that's quite the revelation, not to mention bringing up more questions than it answers.

part9uxkgt.jpg

Teresa and Cecily are discussing something at the armoury:

part10gej6g.jpg

Teresa: Ooooh! Who's that letter to, that you're writing so passionately?

Cecily: Aah, Teresa! Don't look!

Teresa: Oh...? Could it be... You're writing a love letter to that handsome young knight, aren't you? Oh, Cecily, Cecily... I can't watch you keep getting your heart broken like this!

part11ejjn5.jpg

Cecily: Ah... Every time he looks at me, it's like my body's about to melt...

Teresa looks sideways.

Teresa: Let's hope you don't actually melt, or else you'd be in a bad way...

Cecily: Oh, Sir Marcel...

Teresa: Cecily! You're at work! You have a job to do for the people who come into your shop!

Cecily: Sir Marcel comes here so often... He always speaks so kindly and politely to me... Every word he says is so honest and dignified, like a true knight!

part1294j9a.jpg

Cecily: But earlier, when he came in here, I had this big surge of bravery! I called out to him, "You can do it, Sir Marcel!"

Teresa: Uh-huh... So, what did he say then?

Cecily: "What is it that I can do, exactly?" Then, I didn't know what to say... I completely blew it...

Teresa: (Oh, Cecily...)

Some time later, Marcel visits the shop to look for new equipment.

part13gwjaq.jpg

Cecily: P-Please read this!

She hands him her letter.

Marcel: Oh? Could this perhaps be... an invoice?

Cecily: N-No, it's not an invoice! These are my feelings!

Marcel: Your... feelings?

Cecily: Y-Yes... Please, do read it...

He glances over the letter.

Marcel: ...I'm afraid I cannot. I must return this to you. I am a knight. Right now, I must devote myself to the liberation of my homeland. I cannot let other matters of life distract me at this time. My apologies, Miss Cecily...

Cecily: B-But...

part15s8j3f.jpg

:(

A knight notices Cecily standing alone and walks up to her.

part16bjkig.jpg

Lane: You could get very... wet...

He hands her his coat.

Cecily: Ah, thank you... but what about you, sir?

Lane: I will endure... It is far better that you be spared from the dangerous elements than I. But I fear the rain is not what has dampened your spirits... Does something ail you, fair maiden?

Cecily: You're too kind. But yes, there has been something on my mind as of late. I suppose you could call it unrequited love...

Lane: Impossible... A beautiful and charming woman such as yourself, spurned?! What has this world come to...

Cecily: Huh...?

part17axk3b.jpg

Hmm...

Is it me or a lot of side-stories are about family (or relationships like the last one)?

Quite a few are, yes.

For the most part, this chapter is about setting up plot points rather than resolving them. The next mission is no exception to that.

Update 107: Chapter 7-1 - The Visitor (Introduction)

part13fjt5.jpg

part2ksjwf.jpg

Ellis: I apologize for the trouble... As you have surmised, I have an urgent request of you. But first, let me introduce myself. I am Ellis, a knight of Angoule.

The name "Angoule" might be a reference to this French town: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angoulême

Reese: Angoule... In the western Lowlands, if I'm not mistaken?

Ellis: Yes, you are correct. I was previously stationed at Fort Ziredd there. Although now that the Lowlands have fallen, the fort has been occupied by Imperial forces...

Reese: Yes, the loss of the Lowlands has affected us all terribly... but well met, Dame Ellis. Please, tell me your story.

Ellis: When the fort still held strong, I was assigned as the lieutenant to General Abus of the Berwick army. Soon after, the Empire cut off our supply route, and we were isolated. Thanks to General Abus, we were able to hold out for three months. However, with no relief from our allies in sight, the end was inevitable...

She is interrupted by Rosalie.

part39iknq.jpg

Rosalie: Please, use this towel to dry your hair and clothes.

Ellis: Hm? Oh, no thank you. I'm all right.

Rosalie: But... um... you're getting the floor all wet...

Ellis: ...Ah. Forgive me.

A short while later, she continues:

part4ysjac.jpg

Ellis: I was able to live on...though not a day passes that I am not ashamed of the outcome... But now, I think I can repay my debt to General Abus.

Reese: Do you mean... The general did not die in battle?

Ellis: Yes, he still lives. After fighting personally on the front lines to help us escape, he was taken captive by the Imperial army. Now, he is being held in a prison camp called Calvaria. Thanks to our spies, he was able to get this letter out of the camp.

Reese: A letter?!

Ellis: He asked me to plead with you to rescue him and his suffering companions from the camp.

Reese: Does it say anything else?

Ellis: It seems that on the night of the next full moon, they will be moved to another camp. Calvaria is a natural fortress with many guards and lookouts. It is well-protected.

part5xvjw2.jpg

Reese: ...I understand. They could be more easily rescued in the darkness of the moonless night.

Ellis: Yes... Please help me, Lord Reese. This may be the only chance we have to rescue General Abus!

Reese: Of course. I understand. General Ward and I will make due preparations, and send a small team to rescue General Abus.

Ellis: Thank you so much, Lord Reese!

Meanwhile, at Calvaria:

part6pxj7i.jpg

The camp commander arrives.

part7bak8t.jpg

One of the prisoners is marched out by a guard.

part7_0sdjuq.jpg

Dallas: Tsk. Should you really be taking that tone with me? Who was it whom you begged with tearful eyes to let him rest in bed in the first place?

part7_00v5kwo.jpg

Dallas: Now, on to the matter at hand. Yesterday evening, a group of men attempted to escape. Needless to say, they have been punished for their crimes. Those who do not obey the rules must face the consequences. However... [signalling to one of his troops] Do it.

The soldier swings his sword at Freyr, wounding him.

Freyr: Aaaah!

Fyodor: Stop it! You're killing him!

Dallas: ...Ah, my apologies. Allowing guests like yourselves to die is the last thing I want. And yet... Even though I allow soldiers like you to live, there are those who take advantage of my kindness... Like one who assisted the others in their attempt to escape.

General Abus looks on with a concerned expression.

Dallas: Now, I wonder... Who was it? Who would do such a thing? Who on earth could it have been?

Fyodor: ...Yeah, it was me. It was me, all right?! So leave my brother out of it! He's got nothing to do with this!

part9onjln.jpg

Freyr is struck down in one swift motion.

Fyodor: No...

Dallas: Do you understand your position now, "Big Brother"?

part10xijr5.jpg

He steps forward to confront Dallas.

Abus: Stop, Fyodor!

Dallas: What hateful eyes you have... Fyodor, have you forgotten where it is you are? In this prison, I am king. I can do with you what I please. If you want to hate someone, hate your incompetent General Abus for letting this happen to you.

A messenger arrives:

part10_1f2k13.jpg

Dallas: What does she care if they're here or there? Seems unnecessary to me... Well, orders are orders... Start the preparations.

part11mhkpf.jpg

Fyodor: Freyr... Freyr...

Abus: ...Endure it, Fyodor. Until we find the opportunity... Until the day they slip up... We must endure.

part12l1jyz.jpg

A larger deployment than usual for this side mission:

part13j1kmw.jpg

Since the rescue party will be operating at night, it means another fog-of-war scenario.

There's a lot of equipment and items to distribute from last time as well.

part148pjm4.jpg

In the next update, I'll cover preparations and begin the mission. See you there :)

Update 108: Chapter 7-1 - The Visitor (part 1)

Battle Party

Ruby rejoins for 560 denarrii. I also assign her a new mount:

part1zdj5u.jpg

Given the forested nature of our next battlefield, I'll also be taking Larentia. She'll be a valuable scout and is quickly able to reposition where support is needed most. The cost of bribing Jung has increased to 1560 for main missions, and 780 elsewhere. The treasure that Czene picked up in Turon gives me some more funds to work with, so I'll do some shopping - a heal orb, 6 pilums, 3 vulneraries, and a leather medium shield.

Elbert will obviously be coming along - even if I wasn't training his weapon skills, provoke is too good to pass up on a rescue mission. Additional heavy support will be provided by Sherpa. I've got enough slots to work with, so I'll also try to finish training Arthur and Enid. Czene takes care of thief duties as usual, and I'll try to give her a level if possible.

Aegina is still level 1, because she didn't see much action in chapters 3-4 and I've neglected her since - now is a chance to remedy that. She is sent to fill the last seat at the Kingfisher for a slight boost to accuracy. Izerna resumes the healer role, with Sherlock and Christine rounding out the party as ranged support.

Overview

part292jps.jpg

As usual, I've kept Elbert plentifully supplied with weapons and shields, since I'll be using provoke a lot here.

part344jxn.jpg

I dropped an extra longbow and some bronze+ arrows on Sherlock, given that his multi-hit skills lead to high consumption of ammunition.

part4qqkas.jpg

Izerna has one of every type of light magic orb, so she should be able to cover any emergency.

part5g2kh9.jpg

Arthur bent his shields up pretty badly last mission, so the leather shield will have to suffice as a backup. Having 7 strength before promotion is pretty nice.

part6urk53.jpg

Aegina actually has pretty decent accuracy at 0-1 range now, but I will need Pallas Riana in some situations. Focus Chant is only available once every 7 turns, so chances are she'll get to use it thrice at best.

part7r5jv1.jpg

Christine needs 7 more levels and 7 more bow skill for promotion, but the aim + canto combination is the main reason she's going to be helpful here.

part8a4kak.jpg

Ruby will appreciate the pilums I just bought. I've thrown her some good shields to both help with training and to mitigate her low survivability.

part9wfjr2.jpg

I'll take this opportunity to mention again that Czene can hide in forests, which means she can ambush enemies that pass close by. Thanks to her 11 AS, this is also possible at 1 range.

part10bhkli.jpg

Sherpa doesn't really need to kill enemies, but rather act as a second tank when the party has to split up. Ward can't be deployed on side missions, and Marcel would get slowed down in forests, so Sherpa is the efficient Guard-equipped character.

part11m2j1a.jpg

I've replenished Larentia's equipment as well, since her personal gear is looking rather worn. She's doing pretty well stat-wise - it's unusual for her to reach 7 strength this early.

part12uwkcr.jpg

Enid's made good progress thus far. She's got a decent chance of getting the magic point needed for promotion in the next few levels (the magic potion will put her at 5 after that). Hopefully that happens here, so I can bench her for the next mission.

Another split deployment, but the two groups can't reunite until reaching the prison camp:

part1344k1p.jpg

There is also a third path through the forest.

part14ybkhc.jpg

As Ellis said, there are cliffs forming a natural defensive line.

part16uuj46.jpg

part15eekiv.jpg

I rearrange everyone and begin the rescue operation.

part17vqkwi.jpg

Bowman: Especially those mercenaries we recruited for extra help...they behave like thugs, sir...

Dallas: That's exactly why they're the best men for the job.

Bowman: I don't follow, sir...

Dallas: Our orders from the homeland are to relocate these prisoners, but the enemy has learned of our plans. The battle will be fierce, but alas, the prisoners will lose their lives, struck down in the chaos... That's the script we're going to be following tonight. I don't care what the orders say. I'm not letting a single one of them breathe another day.

Bowman: Then the reason we've been placed in our current formation is...

Dallas: For cleanup duty, of course. We want it to look convincing. So, for tonight's performance, the role of the Berwick League will be played by our new mercenary friends. I imagine the people back home will be willing to buy it, don't you?

Bowman: (He hired them just so he could slaughter all the prisoners...?)

Dallas: We've got four prisoners to "escort" this evening. I have men hidden at the pass up ahead to take care of them. Your job will be to clean up the mercenaries once everything's over. No reason to let them stay around as potential witnesses. Now, get back into position!

Bowman: Y-Yes, sir!

part18irj0t.jpg

Knight: ...What was that noise? A deer...?

We're immediately detected by this patrol.

Knight: .....! I-It's the Berwick League!? What are they doing here?! I have to warn the others...! Enemy raid! The enemy is here!

He rides off to the camp.

part1955kiw.jpg

You can withdraw after rescuing the prisoners, as per the objective here. However, I'm going to seize the camp as well, since my units could use the extra experience from fighting the whole garrison. Taking a few Imperials prisoner and getting their equipment would be nice too.

Larentia moves first to scout the area:

part20ngkxo.jpg

The monk holds position, so Elbert charges an axeman next to him.

part214fk3p.jpg

For some reason, said axeman moves forward and then uses a vulnerary. This gives Aegina an easy chance to practice her magic.

part225pktk.jpg

Sherpa uncovers more patrols on the central path.

part23i9jss.jpg

Arthur draws first blood:

part24rfjot.jpg

Excellent, he's now guaranteed 11 strength after promotion.

part25n6km1.jpg

Unfortunately, Ruby and Sherlock's attacks fail to kill this spearman before he is healed.

Update 109: Chapter 7-1 - The Visitor (part 2)

The rest of the group forms up behind Sherpa:

part123jtu.jpg

Larentia is again the forward scout on turn 2, while the spearmen in the centre attack.

part2s6kia.jpg

I forgot to switch Sherpa to a weaker sword, so my other units can't get the experience from taking out these two. The knight sword combined with his counter skill made short work of them.

part387kso.jpg

Elbert dismounts and takes point. We're still outnumbered so the enemy has the initiative in turn order.

part4blkhw.jpg

Christine, Arthur and Aegina strike at the war monk, but he's able to use a vulnerary in between their turns.

part5ayj08.jpg

Ruby spots a crossbowman in the trees:

part6j8j9j.jpg

Sherpa guards Czene, just in case the Imperials try to attack her.

part72cj4v.jpg

Turn 3; the first prisoner is escorted from the camp.

part8hwks4.jpg

Arthur tries to use desperation against the monk but misses, and the counterattack breaks his shield.

part9c1jqj.jpg

Aegina wipes him out.

part1001ki9.jpg

That takes her to level 2:

part111tk4k.jpg

Christine interrupts this crossbowman's overwatch stance with a well-placed bow shot, allowing Elbert to close with his broadsword.

part12gnk6n.jpg

Larentia eliminates the threat.

part13b9ke3.jpg

Ruby's pilum throw is off-target, resulting in her being struck by a crossbow shot. Izerna steps in to assist.

part14wwkfe.jpg

The enemy priest is spotted, tucked away on a separate path:

part155sjx8.jpg

Next turn, Dallas is alerted to our presence.

part16zxjk6.jpg

Dallas: Well, well... What a curious turn of events! It seems my tall tale has come true! How very convenient... If nothing else, this will help make tonight much more fun! Go quickly, and let Hazrij know the League's forces are here.

Bowman: Y-Yes, sir... but can we rely on him?

Dallas: I'll count on his sword arm, at least. Just tell him not to get carried away. Perhaps he could bring me some new captives to replace these boring old ones...

Bowman: I'll relay your orders, sir!

part17jlk7g.jpg

As the fighting intensifies, Enid is hit.

part18jokrk.jpg

Izerna rushes to her aid, and Ruby notches up a kill.

part19s3k88.jpg

Sherpa hits the axeman to set up for Sherlock, but the latter's arrow sails harmlessly past. Worse still, his double-shot is interrupted by the longbow breaking.

part20y4kea.jpg

Czene finds a crafting material:

part22lfkvw.jpg

The axeman is healed by the nearby priest, but Larentia successfully throws a pilum to undo the effect.

part23m5juj.jpg

Multiple attacks from Elbert, Christine and Arthur are not quite enough to dislodge this crossbowman.

part248bjsa.jpg

On the following turn, Enid strikes down the weakened axeman before he can be healed.

Update 110: Chapter 7-1 - The Visitor (part 3)

Larentia throws a pilum at the enemy priest, then cantos forward to scout the camp defenses:

part1e7jek.jpg

Sherlock puts down arrow fire from range, but to little effect. On the northern path, Aegina sweeps away the second overwatching crossbowman.

part2iik1u.jpg

Elbert and Arthur liberate Fyodor from his captors.

part3hxkzw.jpg

part48hjjm.jpg

Christine arrives to support, while Hazrij joins the fray.

part5iyjd5.jpg

Hazrij: But knowing what he'd do to you, I think you'll prefer being dead.

We'll see about that. Elbert lures him in on turn 6:

part6teklf.jpg

Arthur trades blows with another spearman, followed by something convenient happening.

part7r0ji5.jpg

Now he's defenceless, since he wasn't carrying any other weapons (the merc started with an already used longsword). This turn I remembered to disarm Sherpa, so the people I'm training can get experience.

Unfortunately the spearman that Arthur hit earlier was able to use a vulnerary, before I got another chance to move anyone:

part860jis.jpg

Hazrij is one of the guys on the guild's bounty list, and with high speed + adept I'm not taking him lightly.

Conveniently, he moves adjacent to Christine while attacking Elbert. This means I can use an aimed shot with her, and then canto out of range.

Aegina is too inaccurate with Pallas Riana to take out Hazrij this turn.

Arthur sustains an injury. I'll probably want to move him first on turn 7, to ensure his survival.

Larentia is ordered to move north and charge the knight with her spear; she inflicts a decent amount of damage as said knight doesn't block with his shield.

Czene activates adept and crits this mercenary at the same time:

However her base attack is too low to guarantee a kill (crits can't add more than 20 damage). Enid steps forward and goes one better.

No magic yet, but there's still time to get her another level.

Izerna heals Sherpa, and Sherlock moves out to hunt down the Raze priest hiding in the trees.

General Abus is escorted from the southern part of the camp:

The archer on overwatch has sleep arrows, so I'll need to exercise caution. First things first though, Arthur retreats out of range and heals.

However, I didn't block this knight from moving, and he takes the opportunity to strike at Aegina.

Hazrij attacks Elbert again, but the latter positions his shield to deflect the blows. Speaking of which, Elbert's shield skill is now capped (at 30) until he promotes.

Aegina strikes back at the knight that just hit her, and Christine ensures he won't be a threat any longer:

Larentia moves south again to scout the centre of the prison camp, spotting an archer on overwatch.

The troublesome Raze priest is finally eliminated.

Sherpa's group advance slowly, staying out of the archers' range. Elbert takes his action last.

The next prisoner is sighted:

Dallas is also visible, standing guard at the stone building behind that group.

He has arrowbane and throw for skills, so engaging him with Aegina's magic might well be the best option.

A successful cast of Pallas Riana, and Hazrij is no more:
