I'm playing through this slowly and I have to ask - is there any way to know how good a piece of equipment is without just using the price and assuming a higher price is better?

With armor, you can compare values by switching out different pieces one by one. And I'm not sure anyone here knows how exactly how weapons work - by comparing damage my fighter and paladin do with weapons and bare-handed (when both their main and backup weapons break), it seems that strength & level contribute more to damage done than weapons do (but I might be wrong). So I also compare by price and hope for the best :)

BROS, I have Uukrul and Wasteland non-removed and prepared for a virgin playthrough.
Wish me luck.

BROS, meet:

1) Andy - brave pakistani/scandinavian/estonian Fighter

2) Bee - noble female Paladin (laying hands and stuffies)

3) Shepard - EXTREME cybernegro Priest

4) Neko-chan - powerful Magician and Nekomancer (and thingies)

One thing is certain - this game has more orcs than DA2 and LOTR combined:

But it's p. easy, esp. after hex-editing cash.

:smug:

But after all:

Great job since killing them is p. easy and they give 1000-2000 EXP.

And  at this LP being a blind one...

1) Not really - they corrupt your equipment (weapons too) when touched, so you have to keep away and smack them using magick and RALKOR

2) Yeah, right. LPing a game using new alt =/= blind LP.

:smug:

But whatever, thanks to your LP I learned about this gem.

I know the Wizard hat increases the magic regeneration rate of mages, but is there anything similar for the priest? He's basically always the first to run out while my mage seems rather unlimited.

It's kind of funny how the mage is actually the most reliable damage dealer of the party (the priest being the least)

Thanks for the great LP, read it start to finish (I do have too much time in my hands). I started the game like 10 times at various points during the past 10 years, but always got confused a couple of hours in  .

BTW, I'm using pretty much identical installs of Firefox 11.0 in both my shiny new desktop and crappy old laptop. I can see the images just fine on the laptop, but they won't show up at all in the desktop, not even an empty frame/broken link/disclaimer from image host. Any idea what might be wrong?

Great game, but some puzzles are too difficult for me - I would have to reroll with higher INT.

Yeah.

I was very close to deleting the game yesterday.

1) I forgot that the amount of Medals of Escape is limited. And run out of them.
2) I realised that it's the same with Elixirs (MP recovery).
3) DAT fucking temple where you have to use cards to move up made me rage - I was getting one encounter after another (thank god it was only a bug - thing went back to normal after a restart)

But...

Uukrul will be raped, don't you worry.

1) Unfortunately, it looks like I run out of Medals of Escape in the worst moment possible - Pyramid is the only place that requires those to proceed.

Too bad that thanks to OMG HARDOCRE gameplay, there's no way for me to fix this (except using earlier save)

2) Moving through Pyramid is as pleasant as browsing Retardo Land

Of course we can silence enemies or protect ourselves from magic... But at this point this game is more like work than like entertainment.

So - game deleted, I will try again from the beginning someday

But thanks to this fuckup I started playing something much more MAJESTIC...

So imagine this, I've done a retrospective interview with Uukrul's co-designers, Ian Boswell and Martin Buis, and also written up a brief retrospective about the game. I greatly encourage you folks to check it out! http://www.rpgcodex.net/content.php?id=8320

This is the only interview with the guys that I'm aware of, and I hope it sheds more light on the game's design and helps spread the word about this gem.

This game is great, play it people if you haven't already.

And remember to use Medals of Escape as often as possible... After all, what can possibly go wrong?

Grat LP, Bee. Took me 9 days at work  to read it, but it was worth it. Game looks pretty fun, but I am really glad I could quasi-experience it through this thread, instead of having to play through it myself. :) Thank You. :salute: :salute: :salute:
