Second archer? Yu Jin is the best archer you're going to recruit, period. Xu Huang's stats may look prettier, but Yu Jin's high growth rate in Burst makes him much more deadly.

The game where Winston Churchill wins the Battle of Britain by using a Musou attack on Göring, and von Manstein regularly whips out his one-handed 8.8cm KwK 'Zitadelle' and declares "I am the mightiest warrior alive!"

It'd be 110% worth it just for the butthurt it'd unleash.

Though you probably still should play Dynasty Warriors just because it actually does help a reader clarify a lot of the things in the book (the book is 1000 pages long and doesn't linger on subjects, so you can get lost if you don't have any memorization for the characters, names, events and places).

And the book is called Romance of the Three Kingdoms, by Luo Guanzhong (written in 13th century), a fictionalized account of the historical events around the fall of Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period in China. Tuttle has a good three volume English translation of the book.

I laughed my ass off when it first showed up. The exaggerated face close-ups are also great, and Zhuge has the best of those too (particularly his staple we see already when Xu Shu calls him about ratting him out to Liu Bei, or when he tries to save himself from his wife's wrath by going Kongming of the North Star).

Sun Jian's tiger outfit was also fun.

That's why I am doing everythingie with screenshots.

I can't do that in the other ones, so they are on hiatus. My hands hurt too much and I am not really well at all so I can't go on and write those epic updates I usually write. This game pretty much talks for itself so I just I just write down the number of the screenshots I want to use with a symbol afterwards and a symbol before, write my commentary and a few bad jokes, and then I just use notepad to replace all instances of the symbol afterwards for .jpg[ /img ] and all instances of the symbol before for the [ img ] tag followed by the url before the number.

The 'Any day now I go *puff*' rule is still in place, though, and this game is of epic lenght so don't hold your breath for me to finish it. I'll just entertain Mistress and you guys while I can and then go puffity puff when I have to.

Anyway, Xu Chu is great. When I first played this game, he, Xiahou Dun and Yu Jin were the three most powerful units in my army. Their offensive capacity were simply insane.

He's 100% right, you should play Sengoku Basara or Sengoku Rance for historical accurate stuff.

Well... He should play the games, but he should do it after he reads the book for the first time. The games are not only pretty awesome but also help you to recognize many minor or secondary characters by giving them cool portraits and a context. I.E: I did read the book several times and never managed to remember who the bleep Han Fu was until I was captured by him on a RTKVIII playthrough and then had to be his advisor and watch him be totally useless invading Liu Bei year after year after year while trying to overrule every single plan I made to actually WIN one of those invasions. Of course nothing of that did happen in the novel, but now when I see him in the book my brain says 'Oh, that dude with the funny mustache who made me rage SO BAD!' and actually pay attention the, like, two times he is mentioned.

Edit: Also, poor Hua Xiong. First he got ROFLSTOMPED by Guan Yu, then he got turned into an idol. Though 'his' jacket is pretty awesome even if held in place by daoist magic (tm). A more physics inside (tm) version of it would be pretty cool.

Some are quite similar to what Koei would do in Dynasty Warriors 2 a year later... Wei as Black and Shu as White I get, but Wu not being Red is just too much for my little color-coded mind.

Obviously Cao Cao and Zhuge Liang get the best cards. But Lu Bu's card is just too weak.

Just Warriors really. Then again, the gist in those is that said games even forget such a thing as "top" existed since they're so over it. I mean, DW7 opening cutscene version of Liu Shan's rescue as a baby by Zhao Yun explains pretty well how serious these games are:



Note: This is a game series where one of characters is armed with an automated cannon, and another has a giant lance with a rocket on it. In 3rd century China.
