But before we do that, lets get topped off. Looks like the inns in Krondor are expensive - on the plus side it seems we can enter them before Noon meaning we can get a lot more hours of sleep in. Its funny - provincial inns have to follow that rule - but here in the capitol of Prince's domain his rule does not apply?
As soon as we take the coastal route at that crossroads we notice some enemies.
Ohoh. Looks like a lot. Seems like this was supposed to be the final test for reaching Krondor.
And our stealth still sucks.
There are 5!!! of them.
Owyn is missed with an arrow.
He blinds a guy on the left.
Locky counter charges leading enemy. He misses
Gorath charges the archer. Hits for 28. Archer retaliates for 8.
Owyn blinds the second closest enemy. Creating a sort of bottleneck.
Locky swings. Its a hit for 31.
Another enemy comes around his side - I think that guy is going for Owyn.
Gorath's thrust is a miss.
Owyn blinds the guy trying to go around Locky.
Locky thrusts at the guy he hit previously - but misses! Not only are there a lot of these guys but it appears their skills are good.
Gorath swings at the archer this time. Hit! 37 and the enemy is STILL up.
Owyn blinds the guy he blinded in the very beginning as he seemed to be either going around or about to attack Gorath.
Locky swings at his opponent this time. 33 damage and enemy goes down!
The guy in the center comes awake and attacks Locky. The good news is: he misses - the bad news: he's now in melee range with Owyn so casting is done for the next round at least.
Gorath finishes the archer with a thrust through block for 31 damage.
Since this is now just your average fight I decide Owyn can afford to just melee away - his swing misses though.
Locky's swing does not - 29 damage.
Enemy that was trying to come around Locky's side comes awake and switches target to Gorath. But misses him.
Gorath retaliates with a swing but misses.
Owyn swings again - is blocked.
Locky's thrust is parried.
Enemy that was coming around Gorath's side beelines for Owyn.
Gorath switches targets to that guy. Hits for 26.
Owyn swings for the third time. Third time is the charm - 12 damage.
Locky finishes that guy with a thrust for 24.
Gorath tries attacking the previous target - but that guy parries.
Locky does not want to deal with the defender - switches targets and hits for 20.
Enemies switcheroo. Owyn is missed.
Gorath fails to hit Owyn's attacker.
I misclick and Owyn thrusts - its a hit for 4.
Locky swings - is blocked.
Enemies attack Owyn and Locky and miss both.
Gorath swings and misses.
Owyn does the same - with the same result.
Locky tries a thrust instead. Miss.
Enemies attack same targets with the same results.
Gorath breaks everyone's missing streak with a finishing thrust for 26.
Owyn rests. Locky thrusts the last opponent for 20.
Gorath misses last guy. Last guy misses Locky.
Owyn assesses. Looks like Gorath's miss was a fluke.
Locky finishes the damned fight with a thrust for 22.
That was some fight. We got a bit lucky with placement with Owyn's blind managing to slow everyone down for so long. Think we took more damage from swings than from enemies.
Despite such a lengthy fight there was only a single skill increase.
Lets see what these guys have.
A little food is welcome.
Ooo! A new crossbow.
Sounds like more than a toy we usually see.
Yeah, that's good enough. And designed for a Human. I give it to Locky and let Gorath wield the Tsurani one we paid for so dearly.
Back to looting.
Ah, restoratives are great.
Since we didn't take much damage we proceed and very quickly discover more enemies waiting for us. This was definitely the harder route.
Oh! Stealth check passed.
There are just 2 enemies this time. And we have the initiative. So I let Owyn assess the guy on the right. Those are some unbalanced stats. Maybe we should stay away from this guy's sword!
Locky shoots the guy on the left for 17. I love the new crossbow already!
Owyn is shot by the guy on the right for 6.
Gorath misses the guy on the right.
Left enemy advances and takes 2 points of damage. Looks like poison does work!
Locky hits the left enemy in melee for 21.
Right archer's shot misses.
Gorath's shot misses again.
Left enemy attacks and misses Locky - takes 2 damage.
Locky feels like left enemy will die on his own and charges the last archer - just gets in range but cannot attack. That archer ignores him and seem to be coming for Owyn.
Gorath meets him with a thrust for 27.
Left enemy moves off - takes 2 damage.
Owyn chases and hits for 4.
Gorath finishes his enemy. I couldn't quite tell the damage - think it might have been 31.
Left enemy moves off again - takes 1 damage.
Owyn kills the runner with a thrust for 5.
That fight was a snack. Gave us another skill increase. Hey maybe Owyn won't be hitting for 4 damage anymore! That's a 20% damage increase for his thrust.
We sold the stuff from the giant group since they were right outside Krondor. So we have space for this stuff.
Were they planning to bury us?
That was a lot of fighting for so little progress on the map!
Well, Codex's orders were clear. We proceed. This time we manage to cover some ground before noticing another group.
Stealth is so bad...
Fight starts with enemy making it into melee range of Owyn. Owyn thrusts - miss.
Locky hits that same enemy - 23.
Owyn gets shot for 6.
Gorath hits the archer for 28.
Enemy misses Owyn. Owyn swings in retaliation. Misses.
Locky swings too - hits for 31.
Gorath swings - but is parried.
Last enemy gets in range of Locky and hits him for 12.
Owyn swings again and misses for the third time.
Locky finishes that opponent with a thrust for 25.
Gorath tries another swing. Parried again.
Enemy misses Locky this time.
Owyn rests. Locky swings and hits his attacker. 31.
Gorath thrusts this time. Is parried again. Is this guy practicing his defensive skills?
Locky's enemy runs for it. Owyn rests. Locky finishes that enemy with a hit for 24.
Gorath's enemy parries his swing yet again.
Owyn rests. Locky finishes the last enemy with a hit for 23 through parry. It's not so easy to parry two attackers.
Tasty restoratives.
Hope this was not this guy's keepsake from his child or something like that :\
I'm glad we have not seen poisoned arrows in a while.
Soon after there's a side road which leads to a barn! I think this is it!!!
Ok, Nago is bound to be serious business. We still have 3 charges of silverthorn so I poison both Gorath's and Locky's blades.
Whenever you place an effect on armor or weapons it shows that effect's icons. The green drop is poison.
It would be beneficial to land the hits with my warriors to I have Gorath and Locky gulp down some Redweed Brew.
Wow, the effect on the Melee skill is impressive. Gorath would probably be good enough to be a Kingsguard if he was a knight in the Westeros.
And Locky would give Arthur Dayne a run for his money.
I figure it'd be nice if Owyn does NOT get hit so I have him chug some Dalatail Milk. Sounds like it made him horny.
And amazing at defending!
Ok. Here goes nothing! Damn, these Nago has some tricks up his sleeve.
The plan is going to be for Owyn to blind Nago and our fighters quickly dispatching him. The rest should fall easily to our temporarily improved skills.
Nago casts some kind of blue projectile spell. It hits Owyn - dealing 20 damage and freezing him in place! Best laid plans and all that...
Looking at damage previews - it seems Redweed Brew does more than make it more likely we hit the enemy!
Enemy mage is too much of a threat - Locky gets into melee range with him and leaves frozen Owyn alone with the warrior on top of him.
Gorath charges the mage too. Hits for 32.
Nago gets out of dodge - FAR. Takes 2 damage from poison. What the heck is his speed???
Locky can't even get into range... He charges Owyn's opponent. Hopefully Nago misses next time - he's pretty far from everyone now. His strike is a hit through block but somehow only does 14 damage. Maybe the enemy has really good armor?
Gorath charges and hits one of the warriors as well. Only 18 damage!
Enemy hits frozen Owyn. I did not see for how much.
Locky swings and hits for 19.
One of the enemies is running. Gorath hits with a swing through block. Only 22 damage.
Nago makes some kind of a shield appear around Owyn's attacker.
Locky hits that enemy with a swing - enemy takes no damage.
Then swings and hits Owyn for 9.
Gorath hits with a thrust - 18 damage.
One of the enemies runs off the map.
Locky swings and hits again - shield drops - enemy takes 14 damage.
Gorath swings - hits and makes his opponent go down with a hit for 24 through block. The brew has been very effective!
Nago makes another shield appear around Owyn's opponent. Nago is taking 2 damage a turn and still casting spells left and right...
Locky swings and hits - thorough block. The shield is still up.
Gorath tries to close the distance with Nago but that's a tall order.
Enemy misses Owyn with a thrust somehow. I can't believe Owyn is still frozen.
Locky swings - hits. Shield drops - enemy takes 15 and dies.
Our guys apprach Nago who does not move or cast. Gorath gets there first and lands a hit. I couldn't see how much for. Nago dies!!!
There were some skill increases. It's hard to tell what the actual value is since we're still under the effect of the brew.
Damn, Owyn was low on health.
Normal armor???? So... why were we hitting so lightly? If anyone has any ideas I'd like to hear them. Our swords were in tip-top shape. Right now I'm leaning towards some kind of bug with Redwood Brew. But we hit Nago for full damage...
More normal armor.
Since one enemy got away - I guess Gorath was incorrect in his prediction of next morn and we have one less body to loot... Anyway here's the items on Nago. That sword is going to sell well!
This increases the damage of sword strikes by 50% I believe. Temporarily of course.
Ahaha! The notes in the chests claiming a big ambush in Tanneurs were plants after all!
We look in the barn again, but there's nothing there.
So here's our current location.
And we have a choice to make:
A. Enough is enough, the spy is dead - we need to return to Krondor and deliver Gorath to Prince Arutha.
or
B. Sarth is kinda close and appears to be a major center due to the darker circle. Maybe we should check it out before returning to Krondor?
