Welcome back everyone, today we'll be exploring LaMut:

Feist and the guys he developed the world with (Steve Abrams?) were clearly inspired by Japanese when they came up with the Tsurani.

Actually (and this is a pretty obscure piece of trivia), the Tsurani Empire was based on Tékumel, a fantasy RPG setting created by M. A. R. Barker in the early days of p&p roleplaying games, which Feist and his friends played. IIRC, Feist changed the name only when he started writing his novels to avoid legal problems.

Let's head to Eggley!

But first those chests.

i-LfxNJTJ-M.png

Not much here, at least the shells are high quality.

i-JHb3Kdr-M.png

Apparently somehow I missed the fact that there were 3 chests there - not 2. Here's the one I missed.

i-vS8GqzN-M.png

It's easy enough to solve and I don't want to hold up the post for Codex to solve it.

i-dCKpkrf-M.png

These don't seem to have very good stuff.

i-f7bDHV2-M.png

The last chest is also poor. Why didn't they just leave 1 and dump all this stuff in it?

i-WBgMqcD-M.png

We sell what we can at the nearby general store and head towards the crossroads that we're supposed to turn East on. But it appears some enemies have decided to guard this strategic location!

i-HmPxZxG-M.png

Stealth fails.

i-SQvw8sP-M.png

There's a new enemy type here.
Guy on the right shoots Owyn for 7.
Owyn blinds the central guy.

i-9nm8TQN-M.png

Locky hits that guy for 21.

i-Hsx629v-M.png

New enemy type reaches Locky but does not attack.
Gorath hits the archer for 27.
Archer charges Owyn instead. Misses him.
Owyn swings and hits the guy that charged him. 12 damage.

i-ngbXbcB-M.png

Locky finishes the blind guy with a swing for 32.

i-HDdNrL7-M.png

Gorath finishes Owyn's attacker with a hit for 28.

i-jFhBBrF-M.png

Owyn rests.
Locky's thrust is parried.

i-BMFGDbv-M.png

Enemy misses his swing.
Gorath misses last enemy.

i-J2XGZph-M.png

Owyn rests again.
Locky swings. Hit for 30.

i-q839N49-M.png

Gorath finishes the enemy with a swing for 37.

i-GLZcJqZ-M.png

The archer had a lot of stuff!

i-BwHgwmr-M.png

Yay, a new key type!

i-zX5KTkB-M.png

Second guy is a bit more generic.

i-Cn7PfJx-M.png

This crossbowman is the one that shot Owyn.

i-rkqhb8J-M.png

We sell all that loot real quick and return to the crossroads. We won't be heading South.

i-k7r5wvN-M.png

The eastern branch soon has a smaller path leading off to another shop. It seems really close to town, why wasn't it in town?

i-2nWMFwL-M.png

Another general store?

i-MnzQZGD-M.png

Yeah, looks like it.

i-DPLNVk6-M.png

It gives much better prices for stuff we're selling than the place in town :( if we had only known.

i-3mD98g8-M.png

i-v74gVGQ-M.png

We move on, eventually a smaller path on the right leads to a chest.

i-hbGzxFg-M.png

We cast the trap detection spell and it does appear trapped.

i-WCNj3xV-M.png

Last time we faced this dilemma - the codex said not to leave loot - so I give it a try.

i-2GLxbVC-M.png

We really need to stop disabling these things with our face.

i-HWjqVqb-M.png

FUUUUUUUUUUUU....!!!!

i-BR95qnb-M.png

Well, time to reap the consequences. Near Death is a terrible status that stops you from regaining hp.

i-GKnCXf8-M.png

Here's Locky's hp. That trap was painful... Maybe Owyn would have lived if there was some tavern to rest to full hp in, but there hasn't been anything like that anywhere close.

i-bFmcNsM-M.png

Might as well loot the damned chest.

i-8WkR24w-M.png

Well, this crossbow might actually be worth using - looks like it will hit hard if it hits. Unfortunately no one in the party is of the Tsurani race.

i-JS7j3PM-M.png

So is this as it sounds - or... is this 4 dimensional chess that's trying us to go on the direct path to Krondor instead?

i-WLCvw7t-M.png

So... we need to heal Owyn, but there's no temple nearby. Lets give Healing pack a try.

i-9fH3PP3-M.png

The healing pack lasts for about 32 hours. So we rest for that much and... it barely made a dent! Apparently recovering from mortal wounds takes a long time, even with medical assistance.

i-hmx5MCF-M.png

Well, we have some rations to spare and 7 more charges of healing pack. Lets give it another 32 hours so that the rest of the party heals at least.

i-zPvKRm9-M.png

Looks like the progress is a little quicker. I think this is one of those conditions that's really hard to start improving, but gets progressively easier as it goes along.

i-d6ddHDL-M.png

Another 31 hours later the progress continues slowly again... But notice the HP and Stamina appear red! The maximums must have gone up. They're the only skills that improve by the passage of time. So at least there's some benefit to all this.

i-8JBKqSn-M.png

Gorath and Locky improved too.

i-pnKcxWD-M.png

i-K3vt7tH-M.png

I don't think we have much choice but to continue trying to nurse Owyn back to health. So here's the result another 32 hours later.

i-szPMpBb-M.png

And another 32.

i-vNLK4rF-M.png

And another...

i-Rtp5PFD-M.png

And another... This may seem like its an improvement - but in reality he'd go down in 1 hit and be back to 100% near death if he got into a fight.

i-Bz2x97V-M.png

Another 32 hours passes. We're getting close to being halfway there.

i-hRZSWfB-M.png

We're running low on rations and ran out of healing packs.

i-KVtR9JW-M.png

The closest general store didn't have any, neither did the weapon store in Questor's View. We had to retreat to the store near the 3 puzzle chests to finally get some Healing packs. We also had to buy more food. We rest for another 64 hours with healing packs.

i-wrv3TG4-M.png

And another 32 almost gets us there!

i-rtZTnKw-M.png

And we're back to full travel health by next morning! Lets be careful with traps from here on out...

i-jrtcjw9-M.png

We backtrack past the damned chest and proceed forward. As we approach the crossroads separating the roads leading North to Hawk's Hollow and south to Eggley we see more enemies.

i-hz6D5np-M.png

Stealth fails once again.

i-TstHKJt-M.png

Guy charges into Owyn's range.
Enemy shoots Gorath for 7.
Owyn misses enemy.

i-BdkK4Mx-M.png

Locky swings and hits enemy for 30.

i-RjFFzh6-M.png

Enemy approaches Gorath. Gorath approaches back and hits him for 26.
Owyn is missed, archer shoots at him as well and misses him too.
I hide Owyn behind Locky. Locky misses the enemy with the swing this time.

i-xRBLzhF-M.png

Gorath's swing is parried.
Enemy charges Owyn and hits him for 16. Gorath is shot for 7.
Owyn swings and hits the enemy for 12.

i-p3tBVPM-M.png

Locky finishes that guy with a thrust for 22.

i-FzbRLQB-M.png

Gorath hits through block for 26.

i-GcBcXLF-M.png

Last enemy charges. Owyn blinds him.

i-cswLsWK-M.png

Locky tries to finish Gorath's enemy, but is parried.

i-xZVXbsz-M.png

Gorath tries too - succeeds, enemy goes down after taking 28 damage.

i-jCp95mn-M.png

Owyn rests.
Locky swings - hit for 32.

i-VCjMqK5-M.png

Gorath finishes the enemy with a hit for 29.

i-PqS8DW4-M.png

Only one skill increase this time.

i-WcLZb3d-M.png

The loot!

i-H3DMZWC-M.png

The rations were spoiled.

i-8zC9bmZ-M.png

How ordinary.

i-wXWckbh-M.png

Next time we'll continue our quest onto Eggley.

Is there a way to DISARM a chest other than let it explode in your face? As amusing as it is to watch, it might not be gainful in the length.

man, wasting all that time healing from a trap to the face should lead to game consequences

can't you remove near-dead Owyn from party and recruit a fresh mage replacement? :P

I like the Near-Death system of BaK, but it's true that its impact is lessened if you can take a full week of rest without significant consequences.

Yeah, first you cast the trap detection spell, then you use your lockpicking skill to disable the trap. Only in this case nobody was good enough at it.

The theoretical consequences are the loss of cash due to rations and presumably healing kits. I understand restoratives remove 2% of a condition per use, so it might have been a good idea to pop like 5 of them to jump start the process.

As to heading to Sarth - I'm kinda trying to play without looking up info so I didn't remember that there was a temple there. Also there would be enemies on the way.

Let's continue on to Eggley.

The crossroads are right past the bodies. Once again the sign is pointing in the direction we will NOT be heading.

i-xVvgDKC-M.png

As we continue SE, there's a side road that runs parallel to the main road and we find a little something at the end.

i-hJFwGHz-M.png

It's a hidey hole! We haven't seen one of those in a while.

i-wC95tTw-M.png

Wow, that's a lot of gold. We'd be able to buy 2 months worth of rations with that. So imagine how much it would cost you to feed yourself for 2 months and translate it into cash. Now imagine finding that in a freshly buried cache... with a sword!

i-P7GcvwR-M.png

Just to the south of there are 2 buildings.

i-Brd5ftS-M.png

Not much here. Makes one wonder how romantic those rolls in the hay with a peasant girl really are.

i-gk5c9Qf-M.png

Let's check the house.

i-r8zbWm5-M.png

Hmmm, interesting that the game makers would put this in the game. I guess it does make it feel like more of a real world when you find random farm houses without any purpose.

i-QVRxx8T-M.png

We continue exploring and shortly after run into an ambush! There a 4!!! enemies and one of them is a caster.

Enemies move up (spellcaster does not cast!) no one gets hit. Here I realize I forgot to heal up after last session...
Owyn blinds the spellcaster.
Owyn blinds spellcaster.
Locky charges the guy in front of the caster and hits him for 21.

i-MPLdtV9-M.png

That enemy comes around but does not strike.
Gorath's swing is parried.

i-F7bpCLL-M.png

Enemy retaliates with a swing of his own but misses.
Owyn rests.
Locky charges the blind caster. Hits him for 20. one of the guys behind him pulls out an xbow and shoots Locky in the back for 9.

i-xKhJcmJ-M.png

Gorath's trust misses.

i-WN6cDL2-M.png

Enemy misses in turn. Other enemy chases Locky and hits him, though only for 8.
Owyn blinds the archer.

i-BTdrdcj-M.png

Locky hits caster for 20 again, takes 1 damage. Damned arrow must have been poisoned!!

i-BwJQ32p-M.png

Gorath hits his guy for 27.

i-Dpn7rXJ-M.png

Enemy hits Locky for 11.
Owyn blinds the guy that keeps hitting Locky in melee.

i-fCV86JJ-M.png

Locky misses caster, caster runs. Locky takes 2 damage from poison or whatever it is.

i-fRbSsCm-M.png

Gorath is parried, enemy misses the return thrust. Gorath really needs to finish his enemy to come help Locky.

i-5DP42MR-M.png

Owyn blinds caster.

i-ZJw47GG-M.png

Locky chases and kills caster with a hit for 18 - I'm surprised that was enough, caster retreated far last turn. He takes 2 damage from poison.

i-bvkvGh7-M.png

Archer shoots Owyn or Gorath, but misses everyone.
Gorath hits his guy for 27.

i-Hp3GwXJ-M.png

Owyn blinds the archer.

i-n8LL6NX-M.png

Locky misses the guy that kept hitting him, takes 2 damage.

i-V8CskLT-M.png

Gorath finishes his opponent with a hit for 29.

i-Fmxsk9k-M.png

Enemy swings and misses Locky.
Owyn blinds that enemy.

i-xmGSCWF-M.png

Locky misses again and takes 2 damage.

i-F7JHzdL-M.png

Gorath can only get in range of the archer.
Owyn uses Gift of Sung to give Locky 4 hp (all the sta he had left).
Gorath swings and is blocked by the archer.

i-9hWNsj7-M.png

Locky swings this time - its a hit for 26. He takes 1 damage.

i-pLQSXt9-M.png

Owyn rests.
Archer hits Gorath for 13.
Gorath swings again, this time its a plain miss.

i-6pXbxjr-M.png

Locky thrusts and misses, takes 2 damage.

i-hsWZK9W-M.png

Enemy thrusts at him and misses as well.
Owyn blinds Locky's opponent.

i-BNnxtHH-M.png

Gorath tries a thrust, it misses.

i-HrRwd2K-M.png

Locky's thrust hits for 15. He takes 2 damage.

i-dvD3wrw-M.png

Owyn gives Locky 10 hp via Gift of Sung.

i-BXVPh3N-M.png

Archer misses Gorath with a thrust.
Gorath misses archer again!

i-bqKjnvw-M.png

I notice Locky did NOT get hp from Gift of Sung, effect of the poison??? He hits his opponent for 15 again and takes 1 damage.

i-TjbDcNZ-M.png

Owyn blinds Locky's opponent.

i-mtjtNhV-M.png

Archer misses Gorath.
Gorath finishes Locky's opponent with a hit for 28.

i-XgRZz9f-M.png

Locky hits archer for 14, takes 2 damage.

i-TMVkQZm-M.png

Archer misses Gorath.
Gorath misses him again, just can't hit this guy.

i-L6Q3h2V-M.png

Owyn blinds the last guy.

i-SjVbXDd-M.png

Locky misses and takes 2 damage.

i-TrKDwQc-M.png

Gorath misses again :(
Owyn rests.
Locky hits for 14, takes 2.

i-d3WgJ9J-M.png

Gorath finally hits - 29 damage and enemy goes down. This was the toughest fight by far - mainly due to the fact that Gorath had so much difficulty hitting his opponents and Locky got poisoned while in a hurt state. We got saved by terrible AI that ignored Owyn the entire fight and did not try to finish Locky when he was low. On the plus side - we learned something about the mechanics.

i-tRqC5dK-M.png

Game explains why Locky was taking periodic damage.

i-gB8kTmh-M.png

Surprisingly there was only a single skill up from that lengthy fight.

i-jRzrD94-M.png

So here's that status. I think Gift of Sung were temporarily lowering the Condition from 100% - hence the fact that Locky was taking 1 damage after those instead of 2. But it must have been jumping back to 100% the very next round.

i-3tnSQzF-M.png

Well, same situation as before - no known Temple close by. Good thing we bought new healing kits recently. We give one to Locky, lets see how it goes.

i-zS6b95K-M.png

Meanwhile - let's loot.

i-p6K9xQn-M.png

Man, these guys are serious about poison.

i-GQkzPWC-M.png

Ah, there's the troublemaker. Notice the poisoned arrows.

i-kcMZZWR-M.png

Any quarrel can be given the poison effect.

i-CkLFNvZ-M.png

It increases their damage by 5, and decreases their chance to hit by 5%. Obviously they also give the poisoned status to the unfortunate shot by it.

i-83gHZb9-M.png

And the source of the poison. Each charge can be used on a sword or a stack of arrows. Given that arrows can be put into a stack of 25 and the sword would only keep the poisoned state for a few swings means that arrows give you much more bang for your buck. Locky had that Tsurani xbow and 25 normal quarrels, they get the treatment.
I'll have to be careful though, there is such a thing as friendly fire.

i-RrMVZH2-M.png

Some generic fighter.

i-PQSnp4H-M.png

And the caster. Good thing we didn't let him get away! The ring has 10 charges.

i-f2DDwCB-M.png

Ok, lets rest and see if we get get Locky out of that state... Wait why is his hp lower than before? Does walking around mean he loses hp even with Healing, or is Healing not strong enough to stop the poison??? If it's second he's going to be our second Near Death character :(

i-xcwNqVz-M.png

32 hours later his HP is the same, which is a good sign.

i-z5SbRWZ-M.png

And the state decreased by 1/3rd. So... not nearly as bad as Near Death. But looks like this also takes like 4-5 days to recover from.

i-dWRhNwH-M.png

We rest another 32.

i-68P9tNm-M.png

And another.

i-zx4HLHg-M.png

We then have to rest another half a day to get to full road hp. Well, lets continue on towards Eggley. Wait, what's this now?

i-WzG77n8-M.png

Not sure what this means... Maybe an ambush has been set up in Eggley? Perhaps we ARE taking the hard way to Krondor.

i-25Q5GKF-M.png

Well, we're here. Might as well clear it with our faces.

If I remember the books correctly, Silverthorn poison is supposed to be a death sentence unless you have access to a very rare remedy. (Arutha's wife gets poisoned with it, and would have died after a few hours if Pug hadn't put her in a magical stasis field).

On the road, the pace is getting frantic
'Specially when your poisoned out your mind
A flight of stairs is like swimming the Atlantic
When you're poisoned, deaf, dumb and blind, I said
I'll take my poison (poison)
I guess I poisoned my life

I have no idea how canon this is, but wiki says there are now less lethal strains in the kingdom.

There's a few different things you can apply on the weapons and armor to make them stronger or add some status effect, like silverthorn on the sword.

The game has that stuff in abundance, there's no need for hoarding IMO.

A practical note with mild spoilers that only applies to the original floppy disk version:

If you acquire a certain very powerful, very special unique sword, do not apply Clerical Oilcloth to it. If you do, the weapon's base damage, the strength of the wielder, the blessing on the blade AND the oilcloth's effect will add up to such a high value that it causes and bug where enemies receive negative damage, effectively geting healed. AFAIK the bug's been fixed in the CD version by simply removing the blessing to get a lower damage value.

I think similar problems can be caused by abusing a certain magic well to increase the party's strength scores to unreasonable levels.

Ok, let's see what Eggley is all about.

If we're going to be ambushed in one of these houses we should probably get full hp if we can first.

i-B25GT7r-M.png

Fortunately there's a tavern/inn in the middle of town.

i-TwnZCmM-M.png

Dammit, I forgot about this.

i-3KBDvVh-M.png

So we wait till noon and try again. Looks like now we have to step over puke.

i-k3BWvLS-M.png

The Stranger seems a tad deserted.

i-9vv7bxw-M.png

Oh well, we need full hp and the price in here is low.

i-s7H3jv4-M.png

Nice, unfortunately we're getting really low on rations again.

i-vrkgLqw-M.png

Let's see if this dude can tell anything about possible moredhel ambush in town. Or where we can buy some rations.

i-QqHZNbs-M.png

Not much of a talker?

i-mWRsBRL-M.png

Ah, he speaks. He looks kinda bad ass. Didn't Issac mention someone named Devon in Eggley?

i-RFGmbzd-M.png

Locky has a point. There's not even a lute to play here - no one to play to. More annoyingly - there's no barmaid to buy rations from.

i-Zr5Th6x-M.png

Uhuh. This guy is Captain Obvious.

i-c2DdXhk-M.png

Maybe the moredhel are holding everyone hostage? But then why would he be free to wonder?

i-rzzxNTp-M.png

A cloaked gentlemen?

i-ZcftD4s-M.png

This is a bit of a head-scratcher. Some kind of a signal?

i-PqC54j9-M.png

Hmmm, Locky's theory is as good as any.

i-Mns7n65-M.png

Not much of a Stranger if he's the local elder...

i-RhDhScn-M.png

Hehe. I would imagine I'd be confused as well. It's modern times now, so I'd probably rush out too - maybe there's a gas leak?

i-9NNnLvc-M.png

Yeah, how come they're still gone?

i-GGhk2r6-M.png

Killian is that weird goddess of multiple things. The only temple we saw so far was hers.

i-Z9Cz2Zn-M.png

That's quite the idiotic ritual.

i-RbDRXfb-M.png

Hmmm, well I suppose if that happened I'd reconsider the foolishness of the ritual.

i-rbn46BV-M.png

Would you guys abandon your house and livelihood over something like this?

i-f4VNpLW-M.png

Heh, this guy now reminds me of the dude that bought an offshore platform and declared it the nation of Sealand.

i-FVR8dG3-M.png

I'm with you Locky.

i-VVxrjS9-M.png

Not sure it's the same. You'd just be returning home, not spitting on anything. I suppose the threat of being struck dead is pretty direct though.

i-92G9TtN-M.png

Well, looks like religion holds more sway in this world.

i-nwqdWjR-M.png

Oh great, a lecture.

i-N3NzcBL-M.png

Some rations would be nice!

i-9q2QBp6-M.png

Instead we stare on a topics screen with no mention of rations :( - Ok I guess let's pump him for info.

i-NBKCBSx-M.png

Locky's selective amnesia strikes again.

i-Bq3Zdv4-M.png

Wait, Silban? I thought it was Killian. Are they related in some way? Like you piss of Silban and she asks her mean sister to strike you down?

i-M98QVV6-M.png

Looks like Locky has a use for her.

i-BDNXXFR-M.png

Hmmm, so at the crossroads where it said North to Dimwood.

i-ZKK5nzk-M.png

Is poker trademarked or something?

i-CLGgdWB-M.png

Right, Issac mentioned losing money to this guy.

i-BG8m2JP-M.png

Would bravos be this interested about why the tavern is empty?

i-3p8Nhkh-M.png

Is it talent or is it skill? That is the question we've all been trying to answer since we saw Fallout trait of a certain name.

i-Xt5swTX-M.png

ELVEN FRIENDS????

i-NskzHBf-M.png

Is the damned bastard in on it? He did say he worked odd jobs along the border.

i-dXsswMJ-M.png

DAMN!
Issac guessed we were heading to Krondor, recognized that Gorath was out of place, we confirmed it to him too. Now everything he said is suspect. And why was he the one that ended up with Makala's ruby? How deep does this go?

i-KnpSsRC-M.png

Well, a new topic opened up. So lets take a look.

i-4TLH5LR-M.png

Hmmm, gambling seems anti-climactic after the revelation that your old friend is in cahoots with your enemies buddy.

i-dFhvjC3-M.png

Ventilating the liver does sound like Mercy's rules.

i-g2qH6sC-M.png

Let's say Yes.

i-rxs9579-M.png

Whoa, that is expensive. And the guy is supposed to be a paragon at this game. Terrible deal. We Cancel.

i-nMGmMnn-M.png

Now the little known bit - what happens when we press no when Devon first asks us if we want to play.

i-GrVCBBw-M.png

We get a bit of a background story.

i-jM6Xd7k-M.png

That seems to lead to him taking a pretty terrible decision.

i-z8hfLKw-M.png

Good point, could it have been a set up. We've all heard of gamblers loosing on purpose to goad their mark into making a giant bet before they show their true skill.

i-WHpXG6d-M.png

Predictable result. Maybe it wasn't luck that did you in Devon.

i-wQk3gdV-M.png

Luckily for us - this backstory gives Locky the idea to ask for a new topic. You do NOT get this topic unless you ask to play with him and then say no.

i-Jwx6Nwq-M.png

Oh yeah, Locky's got the right idea.

i-9Vbm5NR-M.png

Yes, if there's anything that gives great returns its Melee skills.

i-LmD6Lw7-M.png

Damn, this is like that dodge the wrench scene. If you can dodge a wrench - you can dodge the ball you see.

i-FtcFsQm-M.png

Well, this sounds productive. And there's food at the end? Finally rations!

i-NnNgcxj-M.png

Instead of rations we once again see the conversation interface :( Well let's talk about the evil knife ears.

i-gDCgsQx-M.png

Looks like the revelation about Issac has made Locky be a bit more careful about the info he's willing to divulge.

i-9t6238t-M.png

Hmmmm. Issac did mention Gorath would be recognized if he went between Eggley and Tanneurs. Maybe he was trying to help us after all?

i-4x7hfDL-M.png

Perhaps these were refugees? Why are they even allowed into the kingdom, maybe I'm misunderstanding as to the current political situation between the kingdom and the moredhel to the north.

i-vGBJ9zf-M.png

So seems like they're barely tolerated.

i-4CjtgH6-M.png

Seems like he got a good look at the ones that came with Issac, no?

i-PtMPX5z-M.png

Looks like the locals don't take kindly to their kind around here.

i-Lf6cHkL-M.png

Sigh... this is getting really confusing. Like there are really clear messages that the eastern way is the most heavily defended despite being the less direct way to Krondor. But now the sources of that information have been tainted. Issac is suspect - and here the moredhel are actively trying to show that they're really-really guarding this way. That note in a trapped chest could have been planted too.

i-RP4XK3n-M.png

Ok, lets hope this is the last topic. This is one long conversation.

i-S7gJ9sB-M.png

Yeah, one would be tempted.

i-c4xqjbj-M.png

Fair enough.

i-Ctt5P4n-M.png

Damn, Locky is getting really good at sniffing out opportunities for training sessions.

i-f7RFF8S-M.png

This guy got around.

i-nXCtFHD-M.png

Well, we'll head towards Silden at some point, but probably not during this chapter.

i-shnSczx-M.png

We say goodbye to Devon.

i-2qpfVKW-M.png

Hah, if the old people don't come back - lets get some new ones in.

i-JcGcHBR-M.png

I wonder if there's anything to be done for this town.

i-SxTPXZp-M.png

Oh that's right, we trained Defense with Devon.

i-KV6hZ8K-M.png

Locky is quite the sword-fighter now.

i-dJgG7sT-M.png

Owyn is becoming decent too. Especially on the defensive side of things.

i-4qd6FTP-M.png

Gorath is good, just not unusually so - yet.

i-vQPg2zn-M.png

We start checking buildings.

i-k2vNCwr-M.png

But most of them show up as this.

i-PG6fw8R-M.png

Except for one that gives this instead.

i-75JWR4W-M.png

It's not much, but it fits into our full bags.

i-HFDftF5-M.png

Is the shop open?

i-jWtBh3L-M.png

It's locked!

i-xqFWcqq-M.png

That does not look like an easy lock to pick.

i-RdNsTR2-M.png

And indeed it is not.

i-vWbHLvB-M.png

We try all our keys too, but they all come back with the same thing.

i-2ZnsZFJ-M.png

OK, there's nothing else in the town so now lets decide on what we do next. Our current status is 4 days worth of rations left and everyone is loaded to the brim with loot.

Our options are:

A) Assume moredhel and Issac are bsing about there being a strong contingent between here and Tanneurs and heading there.

i-rcDs5sp-M.png

B) Assume the clear signals that there is some kind of giant ambush on the way to Tanneurs is correct and heading back to Questor's View - with designs to heading south to Krondor from there.

i-T8vhK4c-M.png

C) Decide that we want more information and heading back towards Issac - time to stomp on the rat's tail and see what it squeals out. Also that temple of Silban is supposedly on the way, maybe we can do something about Eggley's predicament there. If the High Priest(ess) hears of Eggley's plight she might tell the people of Eggley to come back.

Ok, we're heading back to have a friendly chat with Isaac:

We head out of town and back to the north, eventually hitting that fork in the road. And heading north/north-west from there.

i-g9hx7gd-M.png

Shortly after the fork we find a small path leading off to the side, we follow it and find another Mine!

i-GncCt3H-M.png

But it's closed. No more dwarves for us.

i-MHDPjhM-M.png

Our rations situation is still critical so we travel during earlier and later hours. During one such morning we see the temple and right before we approach some enemies pop up. The fact that they popped up so late makes me wonder if the enemies have stealth values too and get compared against our scouting to decide when they show up on the screen.

i-kZJsVd8-M.png

Somehow I overwrote the screen where we missed the stealth check. It spoke about this bunch being an angry mob.
Gorath is hit for 14. Archer misses him. Other guy misses Locky.
Owyn blinds archer.

i-RGWZ5FT-M.png

Locky swings and hits for 27.

i-Gnt945C-M.png

Gorath swings and hits for 36.

i-22rWdg6-M.png

Enemy misses Locky.
Thinking enemy might be almost dead, Owyn attacks Gorath's opponent. Its a hit for 4, but the enemy is still up.

i-ZKW4mt9-M.png

Locky thrusts and hits his enemy for 20.

i-JwcLbQj-M.png

Not wanting to get shot by a potentially poisoned arrow - Gorath goes for the archer. Its a miss.

i-ZLMNhpd-M.png

His previous opponent goes for Owyn but misses.
Owyn swings at his attacker but misses.

i-DDDQw8w-M.png

Locky hits his opponent again. 21 and one less enemy to worry about.

i-NKTFvmz-M.png

Gorath swings at the archer. 37 damage.

i-6Gqq9Mb-M.png

Owyn is hit by his opponent for 8 :(
Not wanting to spend more stamina on a swing - Owyn thrusts - 4 damage hit.

i-vvHZpvS-M.png

Locky finishes that guy with a hit for 22.

i-PXrSWB3-M.png

Gorath finishes the archer with a thrust for 29.

i-CqrkDvV-M.png

There were a few skill ups.

i-DH5MhMf-M.png

i-tsRpxvF-M.png

And the loot. One of the guy had rations!

i-RK5fvP4-M.png

i-gvzdDz6-M.png

i-xL7rWbH-M.png

And they were good :)

i-69Xmnrf-M.png

Here is the location of the temple on the map:

i-p2Htv47-M.png

We go in, it is the right temple! Since this is our second temple, lets see how teleportation works.

i-P6rSTPS-M.png

Hmmm, its kind of expensive. But once we discover temples on the other side of the map it might be pretty useful to be able to jump across.

i-rXh4Zn8-M.png

So lets talk to the leadership of the temple. North of Eggley? Maybe that empty farm and barn?

i-V8wz2Tz-M.png

Hmmm, I kinda expected her to acknowledge what has happened in Eggley. Oh well, we'll see if we can find this Franklin on the way down south when we're done with Isaac.

i-GxWxzDg-M.png

When we continue on we find another side road.

i-ZzVm5nP-M.png

It sure is convenient when these kinds of side roads lead to chests.

i-TNnF6fs-M.png

It's a word-lock. The possible letters are:

TERIES
RHARRE
STESTT
ALLOND

We'll open the chest on the way back down since I want to give you guys a chance to solve it without slowing down this bit of the game.

i-7KqLpSM-M.png

Eventually we hit the zone divider. This reminds me of Everquest.

i-9FfhzXs-M.png

Yes we need to go north. We have a date with an old friend.

i-zdXNcBd-M.png

Fortunately our supply of rations is untouched.

i-tKdR9rL-M.png

Immediately on the other side we're greeted by enemies.

i-4g5ZhmL-M.png

Stealth fails once again.

i-mm6Mx25-M.png

Only 1 enemy moves forward, does not reach us.
Owyn assess the enemy furthest away from us. This guy does not impress.

i-j9K5w8t-M.png

Locky tries out his new crossbow and poisoned arrows.

i-6m4R6XF-M.png

He misses however. You can see the projectile miss to the right.

i-wPJjQjw-M.png

Gorath strikes the approaching enemy for 28.

i-k6XtLzL-M.png

The other enemies seem slow so Owyn assess a second guy. This guy seems a bit dangerous once he gets in range, reminds me of Locklear's stats in the very beginning. Except this guy's speed must be 2.

i-qWZ4Df6-M.png

Locky tries another shot. It's a miss once again.

i-W2RFVVs-M.png

Gorath's swing is parried, enemy thrusts back - but misses.
Owyn blinds the approaching enemy.
Locky hits the other approaching enemy with his sword. 19 damage.

i-TSgdPmm-M.png

Gorath's thrust misses. Enemy swings back - also misses.

i-WmpRq33-M.png

Owyn retreats. Locky swings and hits - only 26 damage?

i-nq62x6g-M.png

Gorath tries another swing. It's a hit! 38 damage and the enemy dies.

i-kMPvsCR-M.png

Owyn re-blinds the guy on the left.
Locky thrusts - its a hit for 21 and the enemy dies.

i-4Cwc8fk-M.png

Gorath can't get in range with the last guy. Owyn rests. Locky approaches and hits for 18.

i-4WbxRKw-M.png

Gorath follows with a hit for 26.
Owyn rests.
Locky finishes the last enemy with a hit for 21.

i-hV4czT6-M.png

Turned out Locky was hitting for less because I let his sword's quality get a bit low. The rations held by these guys were good as well :)

i-WwHZFh7-M.png

i-WXj4SZs-M.png

The vial is that Defense skill booster we saw before.

i-wH78kbZ-M.png

There's a side road to the left that leads to a shop. Yay, maybe we can sell stuff as our bags are full.

i-945jNw6-M.png

What the... Did we stumble into some mass murderer's den?

i-2Gdgqc3-M.png

Good question.

i-wdsvTJc-M.png

Something the matter with making graveyards bigger instead?

i-4pWRq3d-M.png

Yes, Owyn's idea is definitely better.

i-39Lmxcb-M.png

Hmmm... Well we already have a shovel.

i-gXmMd22-M.png

There's also a side path in the other direction that leads to this house.

i-NWPTwSJ-M.png

It's nice that Gorath is so observant.

i-6BcqfKJ-M.png

This revelation increased Scouting for the party!

i-TgL7ttx-M.png

Only Locky and Gorath got skill ups.

i-Z84dv72-M.png

i-dPxTzdv-M.png

We continue on and eventually spy the infamous Isaac. Now lets see if the game ties its own shoelaces.

i-nKLGqLL-M.png

Why yes it does.

i-KNLkCW8-M.png

It was a bit foolish of him to tell us about Devon. Perhaps he did not realize we were in a conflict with moredhel.

i-hhb4qnN-M.png

Don't make uncle Locky slap a bitch...

i-GBWxPvT-M.png

Oh no you didn't!!!

i-d9sdzMg-M.png

Locky is about to pull out the waterboarding equipment.

i-d2f5Xc4-M.png

It is unfortunately unclear as to where Yellow Mule is. But there's that Nago again!

i-fc7DCrf-M.png

i-xLvkBnL-M.png

Hmmm, high risk game these moredhel are playing. When the hire locals - those locals might end up talking. Like Isaac here.

i-dndtnMZ-M.png

There's always something these weasels tell themselves that makes it all ok in their book.

i-x4M3DXC-M.png

OK, lets talk Chests. I like them perky for instance.

i-vn3s3cq-M.png

Locky likes them moredhel instead.

i-vDmJf2m-M.png

Hmmm, guess that explains why you're sitting in one place.

i-ZLTRXxd-M.png

We kinda already did, but Isaac doesn't know that.

i-S5cXrxJ-M.png

The seem to know where we are without your help buddy.

i-tFSQ48v-M.png

Yeah, except they hired a cautious one in Isaac and now the spy is singing.

i-NXzTRZH-M.png

Their assassins and spies seem quite well organized.

i-v7gTS9j-M.png

That's quite the threat. The Prince would likely hang Isaac - treason to the kingdom.

i-VdCN8k8-M.png

I remember some - but looks like we've missed quite a few. Perhaps its due to us not ever going on the northern loop - perhaps not. Maybe later we'll have a spell that helps us locate items.

i-Q84gC9B-M.png

That's quite the elaborate hint. Fortunately Codex is here to solve all the puzzles instead of having to rely on something like this.

i-nftQkQW-M.png

Ok, lets get more info on Nago.

i-Dw3QX9S-M.png

Yes, Nago sounds like quite the fellow.

i-q6K4Hwg-M.png

That does sound like Trouble. Biggest amount of enemies we've faced at once was 4.

i-BsnKpsL-M.png

The owner of the barn maybe?

i-kPqQZ8C-M.png

Killing the man seems more their style. But perhaps that would raise some alarms among the neighbors.

i-CZvS854-M.png

Ok, how did your spying gig end?

i-sFgs2w5-M.png

That ruby again. No coincidences in this world.

i-gFCffqH-M.png

That would be a neat way to tie some loose ends.

i-h8X83f9-M.png

Ok, we let Issac go. I make an executive decision to go up to Loriel to empty our bags at their store. The time spent doing that increases everyone's health.

i-FWx6LM6-M.png

i-4XNJm35-M.png

i-schpqcC-M.png

So besides the chest I also need you guys to tell me if you want me to check out that house that seemed to have an ambush AND whether to head South on the eastern branch or go back on the western one.
