The markings on its forearms identify it as a Sectoid Soldier, known as micmu in the alien tongue. These drones make up the bulk of the Sectoid population. Capable of little thought on their own, they are used for most demeaning menial tasks. Still, it may know somehting of the alien technology. The science team should be happy.

And no attempts at mind control too! I'm disappointed by how many of you survived.

I'm also very puzzled by the number of the discs. UFOpaedia indicates that a Superhuman difficulty Terror Ship should hold 6 to 10 terror units. I faced THREE. Granted, each is far larger than things like Chrysalids or Silacoids, but I'm not sure it's a factor here. I'm rather afraid that XcomUtil did not remove the game's bug of reverting to Begginer when a game is loaded :(

A grenade-analog is poorly thrown towards our troops.
Is just my impression or are the aliens really bad with throwing the grenades in general? How's your soldier throwing?
(I have messed with the unable-to-throw-grenade problem and now I wonder if the whole thing did not backfire somehow.)

wow, spoiler, i've survived 4 missions! go me!

haven't killed anything, but i assume i'm on a stunning spree (or a spree of stunning)

we're going through a lot of tanks, but i assume its to stop funerals being broadcast on tv.

The soldiers throw their grenades quite well. I wouldn't say that your patch messes with alien grenadiers. If anything, they're finally actually using their grenades. Irrationally, perhaps, but at least they're not hoarding them like they do in my usual UFO games.

That was actually quite fun, a lot of mindcontrol. 4 casualties at the end.

Mindcontrol: ironyouri, Darkbane 2x, Toastboy 2x, Roxorowski... But why did the controlled guy never shoot anyone? In my missions, if half of this happens, the whole army's gone.

Because I watch all the soldiers' morale bars after hearing the mind control sound during the alien turn. Then I disarm suspected puppets, that is those whom the Aliens try to panic. Plus I had Roxorowski and ironyuri flagged as suspected puppets from the time we were recovering a downed Sectoid Terror Ship and so disarmed them even before the Sectoid Leader started to invade their minds.

Well played, then.

I like the spread-out of mind targets, but there's still room for even wider targetting, in my opinion. On the negative side, more spread out of targets = more time to drop the weapons before total control. As I see it now... + spread-out of MC, more direct Mind control attempts and if possible: soldiers try to pick up their weapons as well.

Your LP is a great feedback for the patch, Storyfag.


EDIT: I could actually make the PSI targetting totally random, with only the already-being-targetted flag having any value. That would be probably more fun. I have to think about it more.

Maybe it'll work better if you could make the Sectoid Leader's attempts at MC cost less TUs? Using a PSI-Amp costs 25 TUs, so a well trained soldier can use it up to three times per turn. How many times can a Sectoid Leader use his mind? Something between four and six times a turn would be cool.
