Whoa, that was unexpected. Well, at least our librian will have a glorious death... Not :troll:

He didn't even clear out a single zombie :troll:

He killed two at least. But a baseball bat would have been of use.

Anyway I think we could finish the librarians job and take over the library and barricade it for the night. Or we plundering the houses around us and start to barricade/trap this one...

On LONGTERM planning I think we should take a south-east route.

Not only am I the bitchiest but also weak and tire easily

Only 6 entrances is not bad to fortify but it can't handle many traps either.

Maybe we should finish searching then breach on to the next store and hope for shotgun or rifle? or if we want to hole up I could try to modify those handguns, probably best to make them better for assault.

edit: actually yeah, let's do the library. Doesn't seem to be many zombies and should be able to take some traps. Let's finish the search here at least, though.

Nah, I'm pretty sure Dick and Yugo conspired to slip sleeping pills into your coffee or something. Even wimpy librarians don't tire that quickly.

So, what I'm hearing is: "Finish searching the store, breach the two houses to the left, and then breach the library and then barricade and trap it." I'll also have Moribund modifying the handguns when he wakes up.

Sound good to you guys?

They'd really do something like that? Wow.

We can skip those houses for all of me, but we can do that if the others want.

That can happen?

I'm not sure we have enough time to breach two houses on the left. I think only 1 if we want to take the library, too. Let's take one first and see how much time we have after searching there?

Relationships are deteriorating fast. I split the survivors into two groups. Dick and Yugo obviously want to get in each other's pants, so I sent them over to breach the house for some quality alone time. Alicia, being just about the only person Moribund can stand in the group, stays behind to clean up more corpses while Moribund finishes searching the shop.

Then I realize I forgot to give Dick and Yugo any weapons (OOPS), so I send Alicia and Moribund over as reinforcements.

VL3as.jpg

Turns out Moribund and Yugo reaaally don't get along. Also, concussions cannot be treated, so Moribund's pretty much fucked for the rest of the game. See, it really pays to play nice with other people.

Here are our supplies in the house so far.

Here are our supplies in the store (fully searched).

And here are our relationships. If this goes on, these people really are going to end up killing each other. Seriously. It might be a good idea to split the survivors up into two groups - Moribund/Alicia and Dick/Yugo. Relationships improve slowly over time if people who hate each other are at different locations. Then again, keeping them together might be best because if you find a rescue clue, it gives an immediate boost to everybody's relationships.

I'm not 100% sure. It's just conjecture based on the fact that there's a "Number of conspiracies" stat at the end of the game. Combined with the fact that Moribund suddenly fell asleep out of nowhere...

That hate is just crazy. I guess moribund REALLY wanted to kill the librarian to go so nuts over it. An engineer with a concussion, guess that's it for me.

I guess we should split up? Maybe one party go to library now, one party one of the stores or houses.

The game crashed.

So.

Uh.

Let's start again? You guys still interested? I'M NOT DOING THIS ON PURPOSE, I SWEAR. :(

Well, that's one way to cure a concussion. Maybe I will be a mechanic this time, if that's OK and you still want to go again.

Maybe you should try to uninstall it and reinstall. This game is very unstable for me, too, more so with each playthrough.

All right, I'm going to uninstall and reinstall it and play a few games on it myself to make sure the saves and everything are working fine. Be back in a couple days. In the meantime, if there's anything you wanna change about your characters, feel free to post them.

Holy shit. Dick and Yugo, bros for life.

That was hilarious. I think, Ana, you need to split the team. Dick & Yugo on missions together, Alicia and Moribund together. This is going to escalate badly otherwise.

Could you give Dick the handgun? As the police officer he's probably best with it, since he can snipe. After this, I'd suggest using Dick and Yugo to breach some of the stores just SE of our original location, and then maybe get Alicia and Moribund (with a baseball bat and whatever else they need) to continue house breaking.

I'm starting to see a pattern in the crashes here...

Librarian dies = Crash
Librarian being absolute trash = Crash

OFF-TOPIC while team mourns Utarefson

Zafehouse: Diaries's gameplay feels pretty unique to me. There's a game called Floor 13 which has similar strategic elements. The premise and execution is completely different, but if you enjoyed Zafehouse: Diaries, you'll probably like it too? I'm not sure.

HOLLY SHIT!!!, i totally forgot that this game exist.. A LP of FLOOR 13 is a MUST!!!. If i remember correctly the "AMIGA" version was bugged or at least the version that i had when i was a kid.

Gahaha! Actually, I just reinstalled the game and did a full test run just to make sure everything was working fine, and Utarefson was the first to die. AGAIN. (The mobbed men killed him because I refused to give up Dick.) And then Yugo died much later into the game. And then Alicia, Dick, and Moribund managed to escape even though I did a stupid move reminiscent of the previous game just before the chopper came, wahaha! Oh, and guess where the pickup point was? The library. YEAH.

But yeah, if nobody wants to change anything else about their characters, I'll start a new game sometime tomorrow.

YUGO NOOOOOOO!!!!!!! BROOOO!!!!

I'd rather die with Yugo than be rescued with Moribund. :tearofaneagle:

Hahaha, weirdly enough, in this game Dick was more bros with Moribund than Yugo; though of course Mori revealed his bitchy true colors at the end of the game where he ended up hating everybody and I had to spam rumors to keep Alicia and Dick from murdering him LOL.

Damn, crashing game sucks. But it's good to know that finally some made it to the chopper. Unfortunately not in the LP thread here.

I'm stepping back for other volunteers here because I had already two (unfinished... grumbl grumbl) play runs. :salute:

Even more badass than I thought. Too bad that the game crashed :decline:
Well, at least one future incarnation of his survived, as shown here:

There's an LP of it somewhere on the Something Awful forums, if you're interested.

I swear I won't abandon all of you just because of some stupid buggy game. Alicia will live to hate another day, goddamnit!

On that note...

Zafehouse: Dairies Version 1.14 is out!

New features include:

  • New location: Diner. Food can sometimes be difficult to find (and prepare), but your chances will be better at the town's local eatery.
  • New dilemmas: These you'll have to find on your own. What we will say is that the infection might not be as fatal as researchers first thought...
  • New items: Silenced handgun, guitar and one you'll have to discover. Let's just say its owner won't give it up without a fight.
  • New occupation: Musician. With the right equipment, a musician can put the group at ease... or annoy the hell out of them.
:yeah:

  • It should no longer be possible for survivors to die *and* be rescued.
:rage:

  • Save games are now backed-up before a save is performed, and recovered if a failure occurs during the save process.
  • The game will no longer exit if the saving process fails, allowing play to continue unaffected.

:x WHY DID IT TAKE TILL VERSION 1.14 TO IMPLEMENT THIS SHIT

  • The game no longer erroneously informs the player that their survivors are at the rescue location.

@Dayyalu: It was a bug after all!

  • Numerous tweaks to the lynch mob dilemma, including incorporating environmental factors (barricades, traps, etc) into resolution and trigger chance.

It would've been nice to have this during that run where my survivors were wiped out by the mob despite being in a fully-fortified, trapped location...

  • Fixed a crash related to game saves and random custom locations (thanks DarKPenguiN).

DarKPenguiN :bro:

But the most interesting thing to come out of this update is this...

Custom Occupation Editor!

zEW0o.jpg

That's right! You can now make your occupation, instead of being forced to play something shitty like a librarian!

Morkar, ironyuri, lightbane, Moribund, utarefson, if you're interested in playing something else other than the provided occupation (one of the new ones is Musician), please submit a custom occupation for your character to use.

Choose three words that best describe this occupation, by order of relevance.

Realistic: Practical, stable and involves working with physical objects and solving concrete problems.
Investigative: Attractive to curious, logical and inquisitive people; often associated with technical, scientific or academic work.
Artistic: Appeals to creative and intuitive people; involves working with abstract ideas.
Social: Involves helping or caring for others, typically in teams.
Enterprising: Associated with confidence, persuasiveness, independence and motivating others.
Conventional: Efficient, organised, logical; often involves structured, practical tasks.

Allocate points to the following attributes.
(Six points represents a balanced occupation, however, you may allocate up to 12 points, with a maximum of three in each attribute.)

Strong: Physical strength and bearing. Determines one's ability to avoid injury in combat, use melee weapons and carry items.
Smart: Intelligence and wits. The ability to perform tasks requiring expert knowledge, such as first aid or engineering.
Perceptive: Awareness and observation skills. Aids in combat accuracy, searching and noticing small details.
Resilient: Personal fortitude and strength of character. One's ability to keep their cool and persevere in difficult situations.

I'd personally rather not people allocate the max 12 points for their careers since I'm interested in a balanced game, but if y'all are interested in a gimmick run where everybody is a fucking Gary Stu, please, by all means, go for it.

Minimum education level:

Uneducated
High school
University

Also, don't forget to give your occupation a title!

Also, if you want to change your special trait now that you know what they actually do, now would be the time to do it. There is now also the option to randomize all your character traits (age, sex, etc) if you feel like leaving your fate in the hands of the RNGod.

Here's the full documentation for this patch for those who are interested. Since I haven't touched the new version yet, I'll be going into this run half-blind too, so this should be... quite entertaining. :troll:
