Leave Ulminati be.

He has proven his lack of worth, even in comparison to a lowly newfag such as myself.

I apologize for him. :(

Got my Diablo 3 refund, and donated US$20,00. Got busted by the exchange rate though (R$42,26) :(

All joking aside, I do hope the lack of funds for this one is due to the fact that the Codex has been cleaned out by all these other fundraisers and not because no one gives a shit about this game compared to the others. If some shitty Knights of the Chalice bullshit Kickstarter comes along and the Codex donations start skyrocketing again I'm going to be disapointed in all of you.

As for me, I haven't given anything, but that applies for all these projects. If I do do anything the first thing will be to preorder Age of Decadence. Fuck you, I'm a poor student and I'm not gonna waste my money on stupid shit like this.

I've limited myself to $50 max a kickstarter, otherwise I can't see myself backing projects I like indefinitely.

I do like their newly released desktop background, but in my opinion they are trying a little bit too hard to please the Codex.

No gameplay video and little faith the game is anything other than vapourware after X years of development. The same sort of cynicism abounded for VD and AoD for a long time until he produced a combat demo too.

We're Codexers. We don't just back shit because they like us. That would be...

Uncodexian. Are you Uncodexian Dicksmoker?

Let me be honest with you, if someone Kickstarted a game that looks exactly like KotC and has the exact same combat and rule system I'd send them 50$ without blinking, provided they have a demo up.

I'm just not interested in this one. It's not their fault; I just don't like what I've seen so far and... am not interested. Them's the breaks.
All these Codex-tiers and that picture earlier, though... I find that almost bewilderingly Facebook/Twitter-generationesque. Something about that kind of ingratiating encouragement irks me. Their game and the concept and the demo should be all the encouragement we need.

What others have already said.
1) They made their pitch and I'm honestly not excited by it. Fucking emotions man, how do they engage?
2) There is no playable demo out to show this isn't vapourware. He may have a rabid core of zealots now, but until the AoD demo was out everyone mocked VD too.
3) See 2. If there was a demo out and it was awesome, maybe 1 would be invalidated.
4) This whole "Give us money! We'll name our baby after you! WHY DON'T YOU LOVE US!?" kickstarting scheme is beginning to leave a sour taste in my mouth. Doubly so after seeing the circlejerking session we had after the W2 fundraiser. I understand that I'm as much to blame as anyone for that since I pitched in then, but I'll freely admit it may have been a mistake. (Not saying that I wouldn't have donated regardless since Fargo's pitch actually tickled my interest. See point 1. I'd just have made a bigger kickstarter donation).

I wish them all the best. Heck, if they can give us a few minutes of gameplay video or a demo that'll convince me the core gameplay is fun despite the goddamn overused zombies, I'll even toss some jewgold their way. But not through this fundraiser. I love codexia as much as the next jolly sociopath, but I don't fancy funding a memebomb that will likely add very little actual value to the end product.

Well, I guess that makes us Skyrim-loving Biowhoretards that can't guzzle enough Mass Effect Age 3 juice in codex logic.

I think Kickstarter fatigue has set in. Kickstarter is super cool and all but there's also other ways to get financial backing without kowtowing to giganto publishers and limiting your project to what you can scrape together, failing and destroying any good will you have built up.

In other words: Vaginal Douche was late to the party and all of the codex sweet, sweet, jew gold went to the TRUE messiahs of the codex and their game Wasteland 2.

Nothing of value was lost.

Wow T-Rex Lady sure seems neat... something off about her though...

I've got it!

In lieu of actual cash I've created and modified some Dead State promotional assets to appeal to the Codex (racists) that DoubleBear are welcome to use.

Your puns are fucking terrible and they have never been funny. Stop using them, it's embarrassing.

Absolutely. A year ago, having game like Wasteland 2 with the budget that it has would be pretty unthinkable. So when those Kickstarter projects all started coming out of the woodwork a few months ago, there was nothing but hope and enthusiasm because all of the ideas were a "dream". Details were sparse (they still are) so all we would think about was about the potential and how Kickstarter could give us the gaming experience we've all dreamed of.

The problem with those huge expectations is that your imagination is limitless, while the game is not. It's never going to be completely how you imagined it, and it's going to fall short if you don't set your expectations accordingly. Now that the initial excitement has begun to wane, everybody's become more cautious. Critical thinking and a little bit of cynicism has become to set in.

Stereotypical Villain, I strongly advise you to post another damn update for your Prisoner of Ice LP instead of posting inane puns all around, lest...

As for this, didn't the devs openly state that they ran out of motivation? I doubt cash could change that and this will definitively have an impact over its development and end result even if they feel and end obliged to do it.

My main problem with donation through Codex is that I get much more if i donate through kickstarter. Sure, with wasteland was lulzy having a codex easter egg, but now I wonder if having another one in dead state compensate the articles i could get through kickstarter. Best way to manage this would be getting an agreement with double bear that stated that donating through codex would give you the same individual rewards than through kickstarter plus some codexian easter egg. Now i'm paralized by doubt, i donated 15 through kickstarter and can't decide wether to improve my support through codex or through kickstarter. Perhaps all this doubt will stop me so that i'd not upgrade my pledge in any way. I feel broken and each of my loves have one piece of muy heart: codex and my jewness

I just wonder what would be the result if the timings of this donation drive and the Wasteland 2 one were switched. Perhaps Doublebear just waited too long?

On the bright side the project is likely to be funded. At the time of this post, only $9,500 was/were needed to successfully fund the gaem. I'm also intrigued by the lack of support for Dead State. What really baffles me is that other projects, like Wasteland 2 and Shadowrun, even without nothing to show, both recieved a great deal of attention and money from the Codex, while DS, althought vaporware, at least has some work done.

Also: The T-Rex girl alone should be the greatest incentive to raise this money.

I guess it was Names. Fargo, Avellone and Weissman are living saints as far as many 'dexers are concerned.
