I read somewhere that this DLC would be more like Dead Money than HH or OWB. Dunno if thats true though...

As a younger man, reading the news of Bethesda buying the Fallout license and still high on the fantastic atmosphere of Morrowind, THAT is the kind of burnt-out city that I dreamed I would be given to crawl around in. Now someone seems to be giving it to me, and it's a development team that I have no reason to expect bad things from. Lovely.
Have you played Dead Money? It's not a city you're in but the ruined villa captures that eerie post-apocalyptic ghost town atmosphere really well imo.

I did, and I agree that it does. This just looks to be on an utterly different scale, though. We probably won't get to explore as much of the city as I would like (though from the size of the world in Old World Blues, I've got some hope) but the level of decay and destruction on display in this trailer alone is amazing. Someone said a few posts ago that it's like looking at the pre-rendered art for The Boneyard in Fallout, and it absolutely is. It looks the way that a major post apocalyptic city should look, and the lack of such an environment is one of the things that has so irked me about F3 and NV (though it makes sense to withhold it from NV) from the perspective of art direction. It just seems like such a natural space to try and capture in a first person game, I don't know how it hasn't been done well yet.
I agree, moving between ruined skyscrapers leaning on each other high above the ground and seeing the dead old world from the windows while walking the dusty halls and corridors would be a fantastic dungeon that has been on my personal wish-list for Fallout series ever since the first one.

I'm glad I didn't buy this even though I liked the game and considered it. I'll wait for the discount complete pack or whatever with all the DLCs included.

No real point in waiting given how they've already been on sale numerous times. Rather than wait for a GOTY you could have gotten the base game and first three DLC for $17.50 already. So... $20 total when they put this on sale. I suppose a GOTY could drop below $20 eventually but who knows when.

Because it's very hard to do that. It's not that you just put some rubble and some tumbled buildings there, it takes an awful lot of work to make it look believable, natural, and not forced. Then you also want to have some rocks falling down etc, meaning scripted sequences like in the trailer. Defining the explorable path with setting trigger-places, walk-blockers etc is also a nightmare in such an enviroment. Although I'm only doing this in a Isoemetric perspective right now aswell, I can imagine the work they had to put in that DLC.

Are these DLC linked at all? I.e if you explore the Big Empty before doing Dead Money, will that have any effect in dialogue or other things?

Previous DLC were only linked to the maingame (like, when you finished Dead Money, Veronica has something new to say etc), but didn't link directly to another DLC. This time, it seems we will get similar stuff, as apparently you will be able to nuke the Mojave Wasteland.

The most you'll get out of it is a better understanding of what's going on in Dead Money/OWB, many things in OWB reference the initial events of Dead Money. No dialogues though, no.

The story is loosely connected, but there isn't any direct connection in dialog with the other DLC as far as I know. Like Surf Solar says they do add bits of extra dialog in the base game where appropriate. Like I assume you can tell Caesar if you kill Joshua Graham.

Edit: Hmm, maybe not. Looked it up on the wiki, and it mentions you can tell Graham about killing Caesar (Which I knew, because I did) but not the other way around. Well that's disappointing if that's the case.

Actually, isn't it supposed to release on all platform today?
