I want to say there's sort of measures against that in 8, because the longer you try to abuse sleeping to full, the more monsters spawn, which eventually causes gigantic 80 enemy pile-ups that are annoying as hell to rid yourself of.

Those pile ups were some of the tensest and most fun fights I ever had in Wizardry 8.

Especially when this starts playing half-way through the entire onslaught, because the groups of mobs just keep coming, and coming, and coming.

I remember this one time I was basically completely cornered and had no choice but to tough it out.
Never before in my life have I ever used so many consumables to stay alive in a fight, and when i finally emerged triumphant, no one had any HP, MP, or ammunition left, however they laughtered enough mobs to gain at least 2 full levels.

just wanted to prove a point friend. some people here don't believe the monacled nature of the ps1 versions.

I recently watched the Wizardry 1 OVA, and it's really good. Faithful to the game.

On a related note, a Russian guy started translating Wizardry Seimei no Kusabi for the DS a couple months ago, but he is only doing the interface, not the story:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/4469-wizardry-seimei-no-kusabi.400275/

Maybe somebody will eventually help him bypass the character restriction, or otherwise help translate it in full.

the anime was nice. I am surprised there's someone translating that wizardry on DS. I wasn't a big fan of those ''wizardry renaissance'' game, but they're ok, I've seen worse hehe.
well actually the firstt time I played them and complete the main story, it was kind of a choir...then when I did the post game and took the time to multi class ect, it was more enjoyable.

man, untangling the convluted web of japanese wizardry games and who made what and who stole what and remade it into another wizardry game takes a lot of work to stay knowledgable. they seem to crank these out at least 1 a month.

i was just looking at a mobile phone Wizardry game, i'll get the title in a bit and post it, and it looks really good. The sprites seem to be upscaled ones from the SNES versions.

the renaissance series of Wiz titles is a collection of titles developed by different studios isn't it? Some sort of legal thing so they can all each retain a part of the license from the little information i found about this.

edit: Dorarnae do you by any chance know what the "Love %" statistic does in wiz empire? also, why is it that the attributes are listed twice in the character's screen, with different numbers?

the love stats depend on the race and alignment of your characters (wiz emp1 &2 are a bit different).
you get bonus stats and also learn your spell faster(or normally) I think.

In Wiz empire 1, I went with a full hobbit team all evil for max bonus. the idea is nice, but the problem is there's a lot of race that hate each other.
In Wiz empire 2 you have to balance with evil(or good) with some neutral.

while it gives bonus stats, you still need to meet requirement with your base stat for class changing.

lol and here i just went and spent 20 mins grinding a monster-tile that spews up frequent friendlies in order to fight them and turn my whole team evil. i always end with the entire team evil for simple convenience's sake. i hate having to send the badboys ahead into the dungeon, save/quit, then go look for them with the nancy boys just so i can have my fucking thief/ninja in my group.

well i suppose if they're all evil then they should really love % that evil shit amirite

my party is: human-fighter, dwarf-fighter, werewolf-samurai, elf-thief, human-priest and human-mage

(i made the spellcasters human because their balanced attribute distribution helps immensely for when you want to change the priest/mage into another magic-class or also when doing priest>lord, and the like)

btw, the werewolf race is super broken. they get innate -5 AC bonus just for being furry. since the age and growing old isn't really a game factor the way it is in Gothic then there is literally no downside to making an all wolfpac team with insane -AC.

I'm gonna guess again. Is the right stat the stats you have counting any bonuses from equipment (or whatever)?

The Generation Xth remake had a stat menu similar to that.

that's what i assumed as well, and also thought it might be racial/class minimums on one side or something like that but whatevs.

oh, yeah, no i'm fairly sure it's not explicitely detailing the bonii on one side as the right side is the characters actual attribute scores. the left side remains a mystery.

my guess is you should have 19 str but because your love is -5, you end up with 14. looking at your stat, you have -5 everywhere except luc(can't go lower than that?)
