edit:
treave, Benton should have a C that is to steal his fedora and hold it ransom - "I'll tear this up if you don't straighten out" kinda thing.
Loss of the fedora will bring Aron tears. sweet, sweet tears. :M

The fedora is in his heart. It is a fedora that you cannot reach.

I know it is contrary to Benton's nature, but maybe, having heard his inner turmoil, we should just put the poor dude out of his misery? No beatings, no threats, just a quick snap of the neck. m4davis, Kipeci, what do you think?

Mm, no, he doesn't have the skill to pull that off. He's not some government-trained assassin.

What about a punch in the throat? Seems pretty straightforward to me.

You need training to do that sort of thing effectively. Plus the Aaron's Neckbeard gives an automatic +10 Defense to all attacks targeted at its wearer's neck.

As a fellow male, I can't leave him to just suffer in his misery. We don't have time to reenact Get Hard and turn him into a G.
What's a nigga to do?

It is a disgusting testament to the rule of the patriarchy that even a sadistic simulation should conspire to colour my herstory with misogyny! Too often is life-threatening danger used as an excuse to further the male agenda. A.

Yeah, an issue with this format is that each team needs to be reasonably active, though it becomes less of one as more and more characters are knocked off. This is just a test run though, so I don't foresee it becoming a problem.

he's too eager, there's no way I'd be able to talk him down, let alone physically stop him. and I definitely ain't running off on my own into a maze that's probably filled with traps. i'll wait.

Out of curiosity, did this:
Just put it up to a vote.
Generations>Hero.
Hobo Rider will get to make babies too, right?

hey, it could still end like that. We still have a murderer who knows the ritual in our subconscious. We're still in an alternate reality where I'm guessing the ritual is possible. My point is, there is always room to come back and do a sequel. Classic anime tropes of an amnesiac hero in denial while a string of brutal murders occur within the city. An investigator and a nosey schoolgirl hot on his tail.

How would you feel about making a historical CYOA?
Say, a Germanic warlord during the fall of Rome, see if we can beat Odoacer in land-grabbing.
Or a Varangian Guard LP, fighting for riches and glory under the King of the Greeks.
Maybe something Renaissance, like Conquistadors in the New World?

Damn, now I'm sorry that it didn't come to that.
Any interest in a crime setting? Anything from goofy Yakuza-Triad-Eeloomanatee hijinks to more serious themes, all up to you.

Alternative history is where it's at. :obviously:

what the fuck was going on

I think I should just go ahead and never vote when an investigation-type thing is going on. I've done pretty badly in all the investigation-based stuff through the past CYOAs like Youxia City and about every vote I made in this one that wasn't just for the lulz has been some sort of a disaster. It's hard to keep track of all the names and history and how they all fit together without rereading the whole thing carefully, I just forget it all too fast and make a mess of it. Sorry for letting you down, Nevill. :(

For the new one, I guess I'll go for the Superhero one? The Hong Kong cop thing would also be very nice, though I'm probably going to be a rather shitty voter in that unless we can turn it from the Infernal Affairs type sort of thing it sounds like into more of a A Police Story one.

The fuck happened here?

Actually some things are better not known. This thread was an interesting experience, but I'd rather we stick to Action-Adventure Fantasy from now on. Codex is less likely to fuck it up for the lulz when it means losing XP points and hardly aquired skills.

I'd prefer someone less pretentiously sophisticated. Someone who takes pleasure in villainous acts rather than sees them as a shortcut to power, a 'necessary evil', or something equally boring.

Johny McStaber

Knowing Codex he will success by minimaxing.

I dont want to be a vilain but a antihero with some real laid down motivation and goals would be cool. Lest say the guy tries to do good but ultimately fucks up every tiem destroying the city. But gets the badguys too. So there would be love hate relations with normal peeps.

New CYOA inbound!
:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:
So, taking the suggestions into account, you guys want something with:
  • Romance and/or baby-making.
  • Time skips.
  • Urban legends and strange murders.
  • Historical motifs.
  • Alternate history.
  • Crime setting.
  • More action than investigation.
  • Something less screwy.
  • Action-Adventure Fantasy.
  • Stats & skills.
  • An evil protagonist.
  • An anti-hero protagonist.
  • :bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:
Alright, I'll see if I can cook something up.
Mean you're making a different LP from Hobo Rider/Cthulhu, or just adapting one of those? If it's a new one, could I get a hint as to the setting?

A - fuck that beta shit
Indeed. What's this about respecting her? We'll make that bitch respect us, whether she likes it or not. A.

"Sheeeit, welcome to the school of hard knocks, little man. Lesson one, how to take a beatin'. Dis fo' your own good."
I hope you do it with the intent to kill me, nigger. 'Cause if you don't, I will kill you. I'll wait until you sleep, go to toilet, or get blown by the hobo, I'll wait until you are caught with your back turned and with your pants down, and I will strike you down. Just you see.

Until now, I didn't have a reason to dirty my own hands with you. You are the one making it personal.

It would certainly be a twist if Aaron knows karate and kicks Beton's ass. Unlikely. But a twist. :M
Nah. He is more likely to have ninja skills to sit under a latrine and be shat on so that he could pierce his target with a spear.

"Whatever you say, bruh."
I'm planning on adapting it into Hobo Rider, and I'm thinking of involving some form of this at the moment: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astra_(weapon)

Interesting. That's one of the things I loved about Epic's first part and Legend, they made me go through some historical references and learn new things about related subjects. I'm glad to see that element is coming back.

True it would give him a better chance and it would be hilarious but sadly even if he did karate is pretty well known as being near useless in a actual no rules or restrictions fight.

Well, it's not going to be set in ancient times or heavily historical. For now, I'm just compiling a list of divine weapons from various myths and religions, and seeing how they would translate into superpowers.

I'm getting the feeling that I already know each character's internet browsing habits.

Aaron: 4chan
Benton: WorldStarHipHop
Edgar: Pornhub. At the public library.
Caitlyn: Gawker/Jezebel
Francesca: Christianmingle. But nobody sends her messages. :(

As the cage touches the bottom, Caitlyn and Francesca find themselves in the middle of a jungle. Halfway through the ride, the walls had fallen away to the sides, revealing a vast expanse of land. They had been surprised. And then astounded. As she steps out of the cage, Caitlyn looks up at the – Sky? Roof? – and squints. There is nothing but white up there, with a miniscule black hole where they had descended. An unknown light source is illuminating the place. She flaps her blouse. It feels like a real jungle. Hot and humid. Well, she would not actually know what a real jungle felt like, having never left the comforts of her upper middle-class lifestyle before, but this is what she imagined a real jungle would be like.

Goddamnit, there are going to be tigers and shit nearby, aren't there? Fuck, shoulda had the gangbanger with us.

Caitlyn’s Choice:

A. The constant use of misogynistic, patriarchal classical music is triggering you. You loudly demand a change to a more egalitarian, gender-neutral style of music from whoever it is keeping you imprisoned here.

B. You bear with it. Although you fully recognize it is unhealthy to ‘suck it up’, you decide to be patient and suppress your rage, and to tolerate the continued use of old, white male music. You hope you do not get any more triggers, however. You do not know how much more you can take without ranting.

I think we should be careful not to confuse the "cooperative", "calm", "friendly" choices with smart choices. This place is designed to drive us mad and break us psychologically, so at times it might be better to just vent rather than 'suck it up' and suppress our emotions. Better to bitch about the patriarchy to let some steam out then to go full-Sarkeesian and go on a homicidal spree. That goes double for the supreme gentleman on the other team.

Benton getting into a fight with Aaron might not necessarily be a bad thing. After a fight, guys learn each other's boundaries and it might actually resolve some tension. The worst thing to do, and what they want us to do, is to bottle that tension up.
