I remember I liked Zeus, the follow up to Caesar III. That's 24 years though...Have there been any city builders in the last 20 years that don't end up in the pile?
Nebuchadnezzar is on Steam if you have that kind of itch.

There are some good ideas in the game but all the devs has done so far is ... Add fishing.Have there been any city builders in the last 20 years that don't end up in the pile?
I heard it's meh. There was also a pharaoh 1999 remake, which also sucked. Is Children of the Nile good? Didn't play it enough, but seemed interesting.Nebuchadnezzar
Is that all they added? It's been like five months. There are some good ideas in the game but all the devs has done so far is ... Add fishing.
There were bugfixes of course but as far as actual content goes... Fishing, making sausages and mining salt, as far as I know.Is that all they added? It's been like five months. There are some good ideas in the game but all the devs has done so far is ... Add fishing.
What they really need to do is add more content to the other lords that supposedly compete with you.
I’ve been mostly enjoying Anno 1404 in continuous mode for a couple dozen hours. I don’t know if my opinion on it will change; it probably will, but it’s okay as a mindless sort of game. Outside of gameplay mechanics that don’t land, I do wish there was a greater visual variety. Well maybe not even “variety”, I just don’t like the general look of it much for some reason.Have there been any city builders in the last 20 years that don't end up in the pile?
Anno 1800 was pretty good, from what I have seen.Have there been any city builders in the last 20 years that don't end up in the pile?
The most annoying part of the "province system" is that you can't get every resource in every area, so you have to expand and build new towns, but each new town has to be built up from scratch just like the first so you're suddenly micromanaging 5 towns and somehow arrange functioning trade routes between them. There have been no noticeable improvements as far as the UI goes.
Frankly even when you play really well I have no idea how you're supposed to grow a town to any meaningful size. Logistics break down, food becomes scarce and a military is practically impossible unless you have a deep iron mine in your region.
