In some parallel universe Bioware didn't go popamole and ME is regarded as one the best trilogies in gaming industry. But in this covid-19 testing ground, fuck no. ME1 was gem in a rough, 2 and 3 are just vomit inducing. Even if you are interested in ME1 remake as they call it, and i would be, what's the point when you know how badly the rest of the series end.

Does anyone know if buying on Steam will still force you to use Origin?
Yes, obviously. It says so on its steam page.
"Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: EA on-line activation and Origin client software installation and background use required."

I don't feel like giving Origin a fourth chance, so fuck buying EA titles on steam, or anywhere else.

Welp, that's shit.
Most of those games they recently added on Steam require Origin. It should come as no surprise that this "remaster" requires it as well. They have to collect your data and sell it to the Chinese somehow.

Mass Effect 1, by far the most dated-looking of the trilogy, has undergone a particularly extensive rework, with dramatic improvements to some of its environments. The results on planets such as Eden Prime, Ilos and Feros look on first impression far closer to a full remake. ME1 has also seen other tweaks, including fan-requested improvements to the Mako vehicle's often wildly-erratic driving experience, various combat changes and much faster Citadel lifts (thank goodness).

I first played Mass Effect on the Xbox 360, so I've always kind of been used to the console versions. I replayed the first game on my Xbox Series X over Christmas, and that alone gave it enough performance and graphical improvements that I'm not seeing a compelling reason to drop $60 on a remaster (although, I'm sure it will be down to $30 a month after release).

Regarding the Citadel lifts, I will appreciate faster ones, but it's really not that much of an issue. They only time you have to take the lift, I think, is when going down to the docking bay. The rest of the time you can just use the Citadel fast transport system which doesn't have the loading time issue.

Also, I wonder if they're going to tweek the timing on the hacking/unlocking minigame in ME1. It feels much more unforgiving than the minigames in ME2 (although, I'd prefer it if they just ditched it altogether).

IIRC, Pinnacle Station was a barely supported shovelware that was outsourced to some external studio. A bit like the Diablo 1 Hellfire expansion.
It added nothing of importance and was entirely unrelated to the story. The real ME1 DLC was Bring Down the Sky.

In my opinion Pinnacle Station was the worst DLC for all ME trilogy, so the lost code (and lost DLC) is not a big deal.

It's shit. It's basically just a "challenge" room where you fight hordes of enemies with scant narrative justification. All 3 games will be long enough that not including it is best. One less thing to have to do.

But you get a house on an alien planet out of it and reference in ME2 if you import a save!

And then you die in Mass Effect 2, and nobody feed your fucking cat for two years. And it's DEAD.

Who keeps cats in 22nd century anyway? It's fish and space hamsters all the way down.

This is the future normalfags brought upon us by mindlessly purchasing every single "remaster" under the sun. Endless low effort rehashes is all that awaits us.

Nobody liked it to the point that if you visit the place in Mass Effect 3 the description says it's been utterely destroyed with nothing of value being left.

I wonder if they're going to fix how the black squad member is the only romance option who cheats on you between games.
