"Ugh, gamers. Nobody is taking your X from you"
"you're doing it right now!"
"No, it's just a small adjustment to camera work. This isn't vital to the story, is it?"
"well no but-"
"see, you're being unreasonable"
"but if it's not important, why you have to remove it?"
"because it's important to let people know this dudebro shit is not ok"
"so you aren't taking it away for technical reasons"
"ugh, gamers"

It never ends.

I don't care how 'people get'. This to me is just an act of censorship which aims to rewrite a cultural product which the devs perceived as being dated. Such rewriting of cultural history sets a dangerous precedent and shouldn't be handwaved away just because the product in question is not socially significant.

Wait, what?

vatnik.png
Any cultural work is a product of a given society at a particular level of material development. Having such works preserved for their cultural and artistic significance doesn't threaten society's evolution. And if anything, they do the latter a service by showcasing how particular cultural biases only existed due to historical circumstances that no longer apply.

I really hope they change nothing about Jacob's material in either 2 or 3. I would LOVE to see them eat shit for keeping his dad a creepy sex cult leader and Jacob a cheating bastard.

Yeap, this is definitely a scene where a woman is using her feminine wiles to convince a man to help her -

hahaha, I think it's hilarious, I actually laughed out loud irl when the camera panned to her ass, it's ridiculous.

Remember that this game was supposed to be some leap in cinematic design. "Games growing out of their arcade infancy to become great works of art".

Bioware is the definition of lowbrow.

Come to think of it, wasn't there a scene in a bar in Mass Effect 2 where a Quarian talks about her suit and almost switches on the masturbation feature but tells you to stop listening in on private conversations? I wonder if they're going to change that.

ALL of the loyalty missions were about dads leaving or fucking up in one way or another. Miranda, Jacob, Grunt, Thane, Jack, Samara, Tali, even Mordin with his previous protege. The only ones that don't are the ones that came with the DLC.

The developers decided these camera angles were more important to fix and blab about during interviews than fixing the ending.

Changing some camera angles is significantly less time-consuming and expensive than it is to write and record additional dialogue and make new animations.
Not changing the camera is significantly less time consuming expensive than changing it.

So is releasing an old game for full price instead of a new one. Don't pretend the problem was one of resources when it was a lack of will.

Their argument for not fixing the ending was "artistic integrity". Customers shouldn't blindly accept hypocrisy from businesses.

Wow you used human emotions to get a response from players? That's so lowbrow, should have just recited the communist manifesto.

Well yeah, but changing the camera means we've* spent the last couple of pages talking about that, instead of the real problem which is:

So is releasing an old game for full price instead of a new one.

They know exactly what they're doing, baby.

*and by "we" I mean the Internet in general, not just the Codex.

Dad becoming a deranged cult leader was a cool idea but executed too timidly. It had no emotional impact. Not that any of the other ME quests do, mind you.

Yeah, it could have been interesting if they played up the "My Dad became a monster...could I become a monster, too?" angle*, but I don't think they did much with that?

*Bonus points if Shepard can say "Yeah, you probably will--best off yourself now" and Jacob jumps out the airlock.

There are so many things that need changing in this franchise, though. I guess removing Miranda's butt shot is a way for them to say "see? We are changing stuff and this isn't a pointless cashgrab with changes so minor people are having trouble seeing them in side-by-side comparison videos".

True. They clearly feel it's worth the relatively minor expense.

So is releasing an old game for full price instead of a new one. Don't pretend the problem was one of resources when it was a lack of will.

Three games plus all their DLC (minus one) for $60 is a discount, just not deep enough of one for your tastes. :M

Their argument for not fixing the ending was "artistic integrity". Customers shouldn't blindly accept hypocrisy from businesses.

They stand by their their extended ending. They no longer stand by the ridiculous-in-context coombait.

Because admitting the ending was always shit and gamers were right to complain about it is the antithesis to axing Miranda's ass which lets them virtue signal to Twitter, the same place that already and disgustingly sucks off ME like nobody's business.

They "stood by" the 3-color ending claiming "artistic integrity" too... before changing it.

The extended ending is an admission of failure and a passive-aggressive capitulation.

Bioware leadership stood by it, sure. As Weekes leaked to the PA forums, Walters and Hudson took it upon themselves to write the ending with no feedback allowed from the other writers.

Ok, american.

Are you purposely being vague by describing that porno-level camera work as "using human emotions to get a response"?

It's not just Miranda's ass that's been judged sinful, it's also FemShep's and others. It's not one camera angle, it's not one ass, it's a systematic removal of the so-called male gaze. As if changing where the camera points changes how we think or our natural instincts.

Basically, they're at war with human nature, biology, the theory of evolution even. Their morality cannot suffer man's most natural desires and motivations, those essential to humanity's survival. They must go back and remove any reference to them. That tells you just how insane they are.

Then the game thinks the audience won't help a woman in distress without some sort of sexual transaction happening? This is worse, lol.

Again, this is not Miranda's doing, this is specifically the camera. It's not Miranda's choice, so the argument of "SHE is using her body to manipulate Shepard" doesn't hold water.
Right, and I guess she also didn't choose to wear that sexy outfit that accentuates the shape of her body, either.

Face it, Miranda knows exactly how good she looks and she doesn't even attempt to hide it. It's part of her character. She might complain about it from time to time but she isn't going to start hiding that body in loose clothes anytime soon.
