Uh, I got this computer back in 2007 and I only changed a graphics card to play the unoptimized GTA 4.

My reasoning for not overhauling my computer is this - if it can smoothly run and accommodate Crysis 1 and 2, then it can accommodate anything.

Of course, Rockstar's poor compression and poor optimization might just disprove that.

Be interesting to see if somebody actually went in and checked what's taking up all that space. My guess is shitty .bik movies recorded on the xbawks version, but higher-res texture packs can be pretty damn big (e.g. Crysis 2, Skyrim).
from a reliable source:

"8 GB is BIK movies, pretty well compressed yet the main ones are still 1080 resolution, 3 GB is sound data but I don't know the format or settings and the rest is the exe and other game data from models to textures and shaders or scripts, levels seem to be pretty big probably as a mix of models and texture assets specific to them."

PC enhancements to Visual quality

Screen resolution is scalable, limited only by the player's machine.
Triple and six head monitor support also helps to run higher screen resolutions.
Various anti-aliasing options: MSAA 2,4,8X and FXAA or MLAA on CPU for integrated chips, Alpha Transparent Coverage Masks show better with higher MSAA levels.
Scalable reflections with MSAA support
Scalable water quality
Scalable shadow quality, taking advantage of DX11/DX10 shadow filters.
Improved screen space ambient occlusion with HDAO.
Increased detail on both characters and vehicles, with DX11 Tessellation generally contributes to the overall higher visual quality.
Scalable texture filter quality to further increase visual quality: anisotropic filtering up to 16 tap filter.

DirectX 11 supported features:

Compute Shaders – HDAO/Blur
Hull/Tessellation/Domain Shaders – Adding curvature to the character/vehicle models
DX11 asynchronous resource creation
DX11 self-managed resources. Provides system memory savings.
Alpha Transparency Coverage Masks – When MSAA is enabled it helps the look of semi-transparent objects.
Gather4 – Optimized Shadow Sampling / FXAA
Geometry shader / Stream Output – Bokeh depth of field effect
MSAA color/depth sub pixel sampling
DX11 texture samplers

I am kinda curious how the performance shakes out for this. Since it's Rockstar I'm expecting it to run like ass, but I'm hoping they got better. I'd like this during a Steam sale even if Rockstar cannot into Max Payne, the gunplay still looked fun.

Well excellent. Admittedly my PC (3ghz dual core, GTS250 with 512 vidya RAMs) is still pretty weak, but glad to hear it isn't as much of a mess as GTA4 and LA Noire. Maybe.

Alright so the port is apparently pretty good this time around. What about the actual game? Is it monocle enough for the 'dex?

At least the gameplay in videos supposedly looked like something Max Payne like so I decided to check it out.

After spending literally 50 minutes waiting for the game to begin, which never happened I deleted it. Sure they let me to kill 10 guys in a tutorial section with a 2-3 minutes long cutscene in between each 3 guys but then cutscene went on for 20 minutes and that's when I realised there's no game but just 4 DVDs of a pre-rendered amateur 3D cartoon.
