Funny as hell. It was the worst thing I could think of.

Put a moustache and a ponytail and he'd look just like Herve (well, Max has a soul, but other than that...)

Evolution my arse. This looks exactly like Stranglehold (2007).
Stranglehold is a copy of Max Payne. And if they had turned the game into something else entirely, you'd be complaining that it's nothing like Max Payne.

The action in Max Payne copied John Woo movies. They even reference him by name in the game.

And this does look a lot more like Stranglehold than it does the first two Max Payne games, in terms of animation, the action is a lot more outrageous, the noir feel is dropped and replaced by massacring thousands of foreigners in foreign lands.

The fact that the new bald and bearded Max looks so much like Dustin Browder destroys the whole experience for me.
I think he's only bald in certain parts of the game, there's a couple vids where he still has hair and his leather jacket running around in New York. I think they're going for the same type of storytelling as in the other MP games, ie starting you off pretty late in the story, then taking you back to the beginning to learn how he got to that point.

Have to say, I'm pretty stoked for this game. Was really worried back when it was first announced, but the gameplay vids I've seen look awesome, and Rockstar's track record has been really good the last few years. I also hear the writers are in contact with Remedy's Sam Lake, getting his feedback to make sure they're staying close to the series style.

I'll have to play it, because it's Max Payne but I'm not crazy about the Man on Fire setting. Hopefully the setting "makes sense" when all is said and done.

Not sure why you're exited about a console shooter. It will be slow so it will be shit unless they make a special PC version of the game (yeah right).

Damn, after the previous information I didn't expect it to look like a Max Payne game AT ALL. This really made me look forward to it, even the cover system applied here makes sense. For all those who miss the noir feel and plot from the first game - I don't remember much of that. For me it can be brought down to "who's next?" and that seems to be the case with this one. As long as the gun-fights are solid and that's the impression I got here then customer+1 for them.

That's one of the biggest PR bullshit videos I've seen in a while.

Look! Upper body moves independently of a lower body! INNOVATION! Nobody done it ever before ZOMG

What's next?

Look! In our shooter guns shoot!

Funny thing - if you will turn the sound off in that video - you will notice absolutely zero difference between this game and other shooters when it comes to animations.

Well the gameplay in that trailer doesn't look bad. Looks fun and I really hope that they are not lying about enemy AI while you are in cover that it's gonna try to flak you while you're in cover.. If they are lying then it will be just like the rest of the popamole games - boring.

But I do agree that that the voiceover guy in that is saying ridiculous bullshit about innovation. I've seen all of that shit they show in other games.

What's the point in having cover system in the first place if bots will flank you?

The whole point of cover system is to provide an absolute safety for a consoletard because dodging and shooting with a gamepad at the same time is nigh to impossible.

Well most probably the point is that the consoletard market demands it. Plus it looks cimenatic. The consoletards don't like it when their character is staring at the wall while they wait for regen health to kick in. It doesn't look realistic or cool enough. It looks much cooler when the dude on the screen is ducking in cover with some badass animation rather just facing the wall and staring at it.

Anyway I really want to hope that the cover system is just an afterthought in this game and they put it in just to cater to popamole crows. I wan't to believe that it doesn't affect enemy AI (by which I mean that they won't sit in cover and pop out every few seconds giving me a chance to blow their brains out) or level design (illogical placement of boxes) but that's just too naive of me to think that because in the trailer there already is a room filled with stupid human sized boxes placed there just for the sake of cover mechanics.

I don't mind a cover system in the game if it's used like it is in John Woo-style moves, as a place to reload that gets torn apart by gunfire if you hang out there for more than a few moments.

Ugh. Facing the wall in combat is completely realistic. No soldier is crazy enough to do back-to-wall (which means literally turning back to an enemy), especially in CQB. Wonder why consoletards consider back-to-wall realistic.

This game is made to cater to popamole crows. It has zero Max Payne in it. Max Payne is too dark and depressing for retards.
