Metal Gear Solid Δ (Snake Eater Remake) - PC/PS5/Xbox confirmed to use original voice files

Going by the steam forums, some folks are convinced that MGS1 is locked to original rendering resolution altho I'm not sure if they're basing that assumption on the screens from the store page alone.
If it's indeed locked at OG resolution, the least they could do is add some decent optional CRT filter (not just something ripped from Reshade library without any adjustements or something like that). Because those sharp-ass raw pixels AREN'T what the game would look like on a TV screen back in the day...

These versions run at 720p, and the Switch version is also seemingly capped at 30fps, despite the original HD releases running at 60fps. Considering the Switch is more powerful than the two consoles that previously held this pair of games, it’s disappointing to say the least that the frames have been halved.

We asked about performance on PS5, Xbox Series X, plus the newly announced PS4 release; Konami clarified that the games will be targeting the same resolution (720p) and frame rate of the initial HD releases. Given that Switch isn’t running them at 60fps, we suppose we’ll have to wait and see how things fare on the other platforms.
  • 360/PS3: 720p/60fps
  • Switch: 720p/30fps
  • PS4/PS5/Series: 720p/60fps
Fun note:
The menus for both games just flat out have 'HD Edition' plastered on them, with '© 2012 Konami' still there as well.

It gets even worse for Switch owners. They won't even get the full collection on the cart – additional downloads will be required, haha:
According to Konami's official website, the hard copy version of the game on this particular system will require some additional downloads. This includes 24.1GB and + 30 GB for bonus videos, with just "2.4 GB front loaded" onto the game card. Here's the full breakdown of the required space and downloads you can expect:

- Physical Version : 24.1GB ( *Front loaded onto cartridge 2.4GB )
- Metal Gear Solid- Master Collection Version : 4.8GB
- excl. MG&MG2 : 3.4GB
- incl. MG&MG2 : 4.8GB ( Metal Gear & Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake : 1.4GB )
- Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - Master Collection Version : 8.0GB
- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - Master Collection Version : 12.2GB
- Bonus Content : 1.0GB + 30 GB for bonus videos
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 Switch Physical Version Requires Downloads

Are there any news about what Vol 2 might contain?

MGS 4 and Peace Walker should be a no brainer, right?

MGS4 is rumoured to be on the cards for Vol 2, but it's difficult to see how that's gonna happen when these ports are so low effort.

It ain't gonna happen. All of these games are the hd collection ports or stuff that was already ported.

Yep, I agree. Still amazes me that a mainline MGS entry remains trapped on PS3. I know emulation is an option, but you need a decent rig for that.
At this point a “modern audience” remake of MGS4 seems more likely.

But if there's gonna be no MGS 4 port for vol 2, the only games it could contain are Peace Walker and Portable Ops. MGS V is too recent to be included. So two handheld titles are not going to justify the "Vol 2" name, especially considering how meaty vol 1 is.

Metal Gear Acid 1 and 2 right?
I bought a PSP for the original Acid and I loved those games. Wish they'd port those over and honestly surprised that they were never ported to Android/iOS now that I think about it.

Oh, probably locked to 1080 because they simply ported Bluepoint Games' remaster for the PS3 and X360. Calling it now that it has the same menu.

Edit: Oh, there's nothing to call. I'm late.

The menus for both games just flat out have 'HD Edition' plastered on them, with '© 2012 Konami' still there as well.

I'll be grabbing the Master Collection when it gets a price drop. PS2s were on store shelves the last time I played MGS1.

According to someone who spoke with the Art Department of the Gaming Compant developing MGS3 Delta at UnrealFest '23 New Orleans, the game will be on Unreal Engine, with little differences to the original due of Konami's fear on potential backlashes:

Take the information with a Grain of Salt, as the original "source didn't offer pictures.

  • The game's environments are almost fully done and they've been working on it for almost 3 years. and we should expect a release date announcement.
  • The game design has not changed a single bit. There is no open world. It's a full on facial uplift. All the environments are done from the ground up. Main Reason is that Konami is playing this one really close to the chest and they knew changing the game without Kojima would cause them unnecessary PR issues. So the game largely stays the same.
  • The team I spoke to were environment artists. They didn't give information about the characters or VO. But they had no reason to believe anything about the story or acting has changed. They did say they saw the character models and mentioned they looked great with high poly art .
  • They mentioned the usage Level Streaming. So we could perhaps assume the full game may use seamless transitions between the levels instead of clear cut fade to black/loads.

Once again, I find myself asking, what's the point? I mean it's not as if MGS3 is an ugly game. If the graphics were 3D Sega Saturn levels of bad, I could understand the desire to give it a facelift, but MGS3 HD hold up very well. Waste of resources.
