As reference, for SMT, it's ディア
So in this case it's an intentional case that the Japanese is different from usual SMT/Persona spell name

Katakana is used for phonetic "non Japanese" words from my understanding, so the "Di" can be translated as "Dei" I guess? ディア for example is katakana for "dear" as well vs Dia that we have for SMT

Was the healing spell also called DEI in the japanese version? Or is this another creative liberty from our lovely localization team?

I could use a long jrpg right now, but won't be able to stomach the game if it's woke.
According to some wikia, no.

This is like the Twilight Zone "It's a Good Life"(https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0734580/) episode we are in, where Anthony Fremont is woke Twitter mob.

It's the "Dia" spell from the Persona series but they moved the letters around. That's it.

Everyone in this thread needs to take their fucking meds.
It isnt enough to make me drop the game but I can garantee the lolcowlizers were smirking when they chose to translate it as DEI. 'OMG this will make the chuds so mad'. Well it fucking worked lmao

"Dei" is "gods" in latin, cause healing is a divine power, you lunatics!

And you earn Eloquence by moraling up the activist, not because you're listening to her. It is Tolerance that you learn by listening to peoples stories about their cultures.

To be King what you apparentrly have to do is being a leader capable of unifying everybody no matter their race under you, whitch could be Universalism (everybody under the same standard), as in the opposite of anglo-saxon retarded Comunautarism (special standards for everybody). Only time will tell. I hope there is multiple endings, but if you hope to be a racist king or some shit, forget about it. You play as an untermensch being discriminated by almost everybody, it's not in your interest to support the current state of affairs, it wouldn't make any sense.

Yeah, Dei is even used in several of the doctrines and movements from the Catholic church. Opus Dei, Imago Dei, etc. Jesus himself has a title called Agnus Dei. Sure, in the end that is just giving the localizers the benefit of the doubt but meh.

But Dei is the the pural of Deus. Why using plural then? Is it about the Trinity thing? There's only one God but He is multiple? Shouldn't then His pronouns be They/Them? Shouldn't the single target healing spell be named Deus and the multi target Dei? Why bother to change the names of the elemental and healing spells if they're keeping the classic SMT names of the buff/debuffs? So many questions...

Dei in latin means both 'of God/God's' (possessive) or Gods (plural). Like Agnus (Lamb) Dei (of God).

It is also the possessive singular, meaning "of God."

See, if they wanted to sell it as a woke as fuck homo game, and people buy it for that reason, fine. But comments like this tells me Persona fans are being duped. Meanwhile they'll sell its success as a victory for progressive content.

My good friend, I fear you're being duped as to how things work nowadays. The market isn't such that companies seek to put out products that core fans enjoy. It's such that they put out content and fans better like it, or else.
Yes and no. There was a thread recently about this.

A young dev gets hired at an AAA studio. Right away he is bombarded with training saying things like, "80% of our fans want MORE diversity in games!" He knows this isn't true. He is a fan of the studio's games and hates DEI, and so do all his friends. He investigates further.

The training is produced by a consultant company. The studio hires them because everyone is, because it fulfils compliance requirements, because companies follow dumb fads. The consultants use surveys get this data. The new dev takes one of the surveys. The survey asks, "Are you a hardcore fan of our games?" If you say Yes, a new question is added, "Would more diversity cause you to stop buying our games?" 80% of respondents said no.

So that's the data point that gets turned into "Fans want more diversity." A loaded question that implies hardcore fans would be fine with an extra black guy thrown into the game, and suddenly we've got a game with black samurais and ugly troon RPGs. The whole survey was rigged and loaded questions like this.

The companies aren't entirely trying to force this on people. The CEOs don't really care but think it's what the audience really wants. They are being manipulated by HR departments and lying consultant firms. It's a great example of Corporate Cancer; you have to excise the activists the second they reveal themselves, or they'll destroy your business.

this is probably the gayest game I have ever played 7/10 so far (18 hours)
MD1RX6C.png

combat difficulty has been fine but I have not grinded at all, saw some retards leveling themselves to lvl 30 in demo I ended up lvl 15 after demo. typically for fatlus games with the hardest difficulty early game has some challenge and mid-end game braindead easy

but yeah difficulty is mainly easy because there is too much hand holding - auto saves, shitload of saving spots and unlimited retries in combat. MP management don't matter much anymore you can buy enough MP items & abuse mage's mp recovery passive skill

I am not a fan of jRPGs, since they are no RPGs in my opinion. You don't have a character to RP, there are no different approaches based on your statistics, and usually PC is a total faggot, and you have no influence over anything he's doing.
On top of that jap devs are twats and their DLC strategy is similar or actually worse than the Paradox one.
Dragon Dogma was the only exception to that, since I happen to like how the magic was done in that one.
So I never played any of persona games. I wanted to give this one a chance, yet after reading this thread, and seeing that jewish troon translating it.
I think I'm good without buying that, especially that they want 70€ for that.

Game just sold more than Star Wars Outlaws lmao
How bad is Star Wars game to be defeated by some random jRPG with the daughter of two-legged Toaster from Persona on top of that?

Today, October 11th, " Metaphor: ReFantazio "Total worldwide sales (packaged version shipped + download version sold) have surpassed 1 million copies!

"Metaphor: ReFantasio" is currently receiving high scores on each platform
on the overseas review aggregation site "Metacritic," with Xbox version receiving 92 points, PlayStation®5 version receiving 93 points, and Windows/Steam version receiving 91 points (as of October 11, 2024). In addition, the game has received wide support from a wide range of people, including winning the Japan Game Awards "Future Division" for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024, which
is selected annually by public vote .

Just play orginal Persona 3 or 4. Persona 3 if you like more managing of your time, squad, bitches and be punished for bad decisions, Persona 4 if you like a good story with likeable characters in 90's mood(Stand by me, Goonies). They both work great with PCSX.

Have you just never played or even seen a JRPG outside one or two of the most famous final fantasies/dragon quests?

Insert Title Here
compared to Persona series:

+ still vibrant art design, a lot of it, quality-wise at like 80-90% of p5
+ persona/confidant system still there
+ calendar system still there
+ puzzle oriented encounter design still there (elemental weaknesses etc)
+ some proper blood and kills are shown this time, making it a tad less toothless
+ protagonist has voiced lines

- open world is pointless. No good travel system. No good additional activities. Just like most people predicted.
- retarded ass esoteric nomenclature for the most bog standard spells is back with a vengeance. If I had to play this game, I would consider modding it out in favor of standard descriptors like "wind1" "str up" etc.
- writing is even worse than P5. This time there is an extreme focus on anti-discrimination and it's not the fun kind of American History X, but the super soy kind of reddit. Babies first racism basically. The golden days of P4 are long gone :negative:
- protagonist is a femboy
- you get a line in maybe once every 50 lines
- art design is less constrained compared to p5 and sometimes you'll think "that's too much"
- more gay

It's probably still fun enough, but I'm not paying the full price on this shit.

Seconded. I can barely stand JRPGs anymore, for many of the same reasons, but P4 gets by on being feel good (for lack of a better term) with its characters and world. Low T males, and women Zoomers would call it "comfy". Probably the only JRPG I would go back and play again aside from SMT3, at this point. P3 is good also, but 4 is the peak of this style of Persona imo, so I would prioritize it.
