On Uplay, after uninstalling, I only have the Early Access Version as Download available

So I just reinstall the early access again? Do i need to reinstall it again?? Or is it now a different "early access" which updates itself to full game in 2 days??? Confusing...

So my question got answered:

The post says: "In a few days you will be able to begin your journey through the Agyn Peninsula". It means that currently, the build which can be downloaded is still the Early Access one.

It will work on Thursday morning (9AM GMT +1, Paris time)

I think it's great that Ubisoft producers are reading this thread and help you out with private messages, and so fast and in the evening time (europe) and on the codex :D

:incline: Thanks Ubisoft, great costumer support :)

Edit: Also thanks Alchemist :)

NFAA, FXAAII, FXAA II, DLAA and the the other FXAA's.

The page also says SSAA; From what I gather, it's a pretty inefficient method, you basically draw the scene at a higher resolution and scale it down; like that "ultrasampling" thing the witcher 2 did. You should use FSAA instead, or assuming a deferred renderer, MSAA, two options that page doesn't list.

Otherwise, it looks like the engine supports different quality levels of FXAA, and some SMAA options.
FXAA - This is basically a low quality post shader. It does a pass over the rendered scene and basically applies a subtle blur on the entire thing. Higher quality settings try to avoid non-edges a bit. Basically a poor man's anti-aliasing filter, as it is really cheap.
SMAA - These look to be NFAA, with DLAA being the higher quality option. These work on detecting edges and smoothing those out. It occasionally does detect some edges on regular surfaces though, so it can make textures slightly blurrier. But for the most part it will only detect edges. Higher quality variants generally try harder to accurately detect edges.

I suspect it may be something called "anisotropic filtering"; a few modern games use it. If the number in front of the "x" goes up, the game looks prettier.

Anyone happen to know if the retro mode included with the game has lesser system requirements than normal?

Equal or higher, I should think. It just looks like a pixelation shader slapped on top of the normal game.

Whether you have downloaded an Early Access version of the game or ordered a physical copy of it, a day one patch is mandatory to be able to access the full game. This update will automatically start when you launch the game on 24/01 (on Steam & Uplay).

I thought the release was this coming Thursday, which is the 23rd. Did that change?

It's an error: https://mightandmagicx-legacy.ubi.com/opendev/blog/post/view/technical-information (read the comments)

It's just the unavoidable side-effect of having a set release date and limited budget. Nothing to get your panties in a bunch about.

The trimmed-down beta version of TESO is 30 gigs and regularly gets 10 GB patches. An 8 gig patch is nothing in this day and age.

I don't play MMOs.

This sounds like an awful Steam-unfriendly engineering mistake.

I remember when I installed FFXI, it took many hours to update. Play Online or whatever the fuck it was called had 92892 patches to apply before the 4 hours FFXI installation procedure even begun. The process also had to be babysat to Click OK, Yes and shit.

Just let it update and go take a hot shower, returning fresh and fancy.

I wanted boxed copies for my kickstarter games because of the physical goods such as cloth maps, artbooks, and manuals. The game disc itself is easily the most worthless item in the box

Then go to deviantart and fantasize about map paintings and pictures. Imagine the game in your head.

Such a nice REAL cloth map (not that Skyrim plastic crap) maybe lacking a bit in details...

Did any previous MM title feature the box advertisement: "Feel the might, live the magic" (retranslated) supposedly said by the "appreciated" predecessors (manual) ?
