you say that as if it's a good thing...

It doesn't matter, is it good thing or bad. But it is very stupid to complain, that new game in series resembles previous games (let's forget about M&M 9), if you ask me.
Of course, point can be made, that there isn't any signs of significant evolution of gameplay, that also is bad. But 7 and 8 was less different from 6, than 10 from 8. And in any case it is not, what you writed about.

Because it is. The bigger problem is that they are not similar enough to MM6. MM1-5 is fine and all, but if I had to choose. MM1-5<<<<<<<<<<<<<MM6-8
there is a special place in hell right next to the pedophiles and telemarketers reserved for people who prefer 6-9 over 1-5.

Then I'm good because I only like 6-8, not 6-9. :troll:

if i could, i would give you access to the demo, pics etc so you could see for yourself, but if i do anything like that, i would have to burn my MM collection and move to France, according to the NDA.

You signed that? Are you nuts??? :D

It'll be the hirelings from Might & Magic 6-7, then. I would prefer being able to recruit hirelings who join and fight along side the party. Even IX had combat NPCs. But the hireling tagalogs here are a legitimate part of the RPG series, so be it.

The samples given do raise some interesting gameplay ramifications. Looks like there will be limited inventory slots that would making having the mule/pack animal for that extra tab something desirable. And I wonder about the chef and the "well rested" buff. Does that mean resting will be restricted, or in some circumstances only able to get a partial rest? Perhaps resting in a dungeon will not grant the same benefits as resting in town at an Inn.

I will say this about the update and marketing. It reads like it was written and presented by two teenage girls who weren't even alive when the Might & Magic franchise began. But, I'm not going to react to that. How the game turns out is more important, and many of the features I've heard or seen so far reflect sound design decisions.

The Victualer: allows your party to rest once a day for free.

Was there a cost before to rest in the MM series? Food I assume. I can't quite recall.

There was a food cost but it was very cheap and easy to keep your packs full.

Still cautiously optimistic about this one. So far the updates don't contain anything deal-breaking. Let's hope it stays this way.

That's kinda sad, I thought there would be legit NPC companions with dialog etc, instead its just another equipment slot

Why do I get the feeling that people following this game either didn't play earlier Might & Magics, or want this sequel to be nothing like the series was traditionally?

I honestly am baffled by most of the criticism of Legacy here, it all boils down to, "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS CRAP? IT'S EXACTLY WHAT A SEQUEL SHOULD BE."

J_C is a bro, fuck the haters.

MMX will be a good game too. Maybe not the greatest, but it isn't hard to outclass 8 and 9. (and 8 is still a good game)

The Codex doesn't know it's arsehole from its mouth.
