Does this game have a story or do you just get random quests to kill stuff/ get points
There is a "plot" but it's basically just one big excuse to kill shit. To my understanding, World is the first one to attempt to have actual "story and characters" the player are supposed to care about but it's pretty lukewarm the whole way through (all the more annoying you can't skip cutscenes). Really, the game basically begins once you just start getting random quests to kill stuff/get points. Maybe Iceborne could improve that but I'm doubtful (aka, I just wanna kill more shit).

So today's been a pretty big day for supposed leaks, some people are going on about the final boss and all that, but those leaks are fairly dubious. The real hotness is this image

vdbgQW3.png

comes from https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHun...esults_may_shock_you/?st=jzoyc3lt&sh=b36855f8 as far as I can tell. Supposedly this isn't Photoshopped, and though there is a mod for the PC version to insert his LS as a replacement for the Taroth Sword Fire the models are noticeably different.

So, is Zinogre in? We'll see but survey says yea, most likely.

Of the remaining flagships, Zinogre was the one that was almost always going to happen. He's too much of a fan and developer favorite to not get in.

If I had to wager a bet on the others, I would say Gore Magala, as much as I love him, has the least likelihood of coming to world since he's fairly unique in being a huge part of defining 4, and his skeleton/classification is a new addition to world on a technical matter. Seregios though, has a much better chance since he's another flying wyvern.

Monster hunter has always been nothing but killing monsters to make better gear to kill stronger monsters to make better gear to kill stronger monsters ad nauseum. If that's not something you want, the game isn't for you.

Huge patch notes for the next console version update (10.10): https://www.monsterhunter.com/update/mhw/us/ver10_10.html

Lists every single change to weapons, systems, visuals, characters etc.

Edit - Besides weapon changes, other interesting bits:

  • Two player difficulty has been added to multiplayer.
  • When going on a quest with two players, the difficulty will be adjusted to this setting.
  • The Research Base now has a Smithy proxy and Resource Center.
  • Layered armor can now be created at the Smithy.
  • Depending on the skill, the maximum scaling for elemental and abnormal status values has changed.
  • The mounted knife attack power has been increased, thus decreasing the time until a successful knock down.
  • The animation for picking up small tracks can be canceled sooner.
  • Max scaling for elemental damage has been reworked. A weapon's base element value no longer starts low and quickly reaches its max value.
  • Slinger reload animation has been tweaked so that reload occurs faster.
  • Slinger Flash Pod now fires faster, but its effective range is smaller.
  • Track gathering volume has been adjusted for low and high rank game progression.
  • When accidentally dropping into an area other than the camp when the quest starts, the player will end up either in an area with good gathering points or in the same area as the monster.
  • After completing an optional quest, you can now set your return destination in the options.
  • Quest difficulty will now scale in real-time according to the number of players in the quest.
  • Tweaked the effect length of monster roars and tremors on players
  • HUD On/Off customization options added
  • Camera & Scoutfly settings added
  • Delete all unregistered investigations option added
  • The number of investigations you can register and maintain has been increased.
  • SDR brightness adjustments have been retooled for a more natural-looking brightness.

"& Scoutfly settings added"

which probably mean ability to switch off scoutflies. Which is awesome.

That is nice. Scout flies looked like an ugly handholding feature.
I'm curious about all the "balance" changes. It sounds like they are making the game easier by giving players ways to do more damage on average.

As most are, since they're rarely able to provide multiple clear pictures. It's likely intentional/controlled baiting, or the leakers themselves are lobotomized retards who can't operate basic technology.
Anyway, even if the final boss leak turns out to be fake, it's at least more impressive then all of the low effort trash that "leaked" before it. The frills/spines up the back and neck may match the Iceborne logo, although it's still hard to see:

Here's the icon for the supposed first form, covered in rocks (sheds the rocks in the second phase):

l1vxy43inbi31.jpg

While the icon looks goofy and unbelievable, it's probably supposed to harken back to the Nakarkos fakeout (hidden final form). The rocky wing like formations at least seem to match the alien like hand wings of the second phase. Apparently he utilizes sonic waves that cause cavitation bubbles, triggering earthquakes that rapidly modify/destroy entire ecosystems, which is also line with the revealed story.

Originating leak from 4chan:

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion – huntable Zinogre potentially leaked by JASRAC registrations

Zinogre-MHW-Rumor_08-24-19.jpg

Registrations for two background music tracks in the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers, and Publishers (JASRAC) database, which is a a Japanese copyright collection society, seem to indicate that the Fanged Wyvern monster Zinogre will be huntable in the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion.

The tracks registered are “Senretsunaru Soukou Zinogre: The Chase” and “Senretsunaru Soukou Zinogre World Version”, both noted as “from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne” and claimed by rights holders Tadayoshi Makino and Capcom.

Zingore first appeared in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd in 2010 and last appeared in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate in 2017.

Haven't played in quite a while, since behemoth or so, decided to pick it back up and ease myself into things with an easy vanilla 4 horns and try to learn longsword counter timings. Got 4 horns, 2 beetlejuice and a pickle instead. Didn't have earplugs 5.

I mean, I was fine anyways because Vaal Hazak gear is bullshit, but it seems odd to me that what is supposed to be an easy hunt has a bigger pile of monsters in it (without the scaled down hp of actual 4 monster hunts) than a bunch of special events and high level investigations. It's not like when you hunt the pickle they throw in 4 other monsters to fuck you over.

Guess they figured the cat's out of the bag, they might as well reveal him. Now there's likely no more surprises except for the final boss, but we'll see soon enough.

Also i just found out that they will be adding new type of every old armor apparently.
So you will have low rank jagrass, high rank jaggras and g-rank jagrass armor.
Here is hoping that they will do same stuff for every old weapon.

I've personally never had a crash on the PC port. Servers seem a lot more stable than they were at the beginning too.

BTW if you want some MH to tide you over until Iceborne PC, might I recommend Monster Hunter Frontier? Game closes down in 4 months but there's an English patch now and though the Taiwanese servers are a few patches behind, lacking the new Magnet Spike weapon and some end-game monsters, there's still years of exclusive monsters to fuck up that will potentially be gone forever if no one gets private servers down. I picked it up last night and it's pretty neat, though it's both super easy and super tough, since...it's running on MHFU-like engine that I haven't touched in ages, so it's jankier than even MH3U/4U/GU, but also super easy to start since they give you high rank gear right off the bat to expedite your way to G-rank and upper high rank. If you wanna try it, the English patch and starter guide is at fist.moe

I'm still playing IB, definitely, but I've also been wanting to try Frontier for ages now and, well, it'll be gone soon, so....yea.

Tsujimoto said in recent eurocuck interview that MHW sits now around 13mln units.
I remember those nintendo fanboys saying lack of handheld version will be mistake lol.

Best selling MH to date was MH3P which sold around 6mln.

How many of those are on steam? It seems bizarre to me that they're delaying the steam release given how successful it seems to have been, unless they're purposely trying to get people to buy it twice?

At this point i think this is just piracy prevention. Release game first and then make fools double dip.

Difficult to say specific numbers but considering the general statistics and news announcements (one citing in March of this year that PC is the second largest player base and Capcom saying the game passed over 10 million copies shortly after the PC release) along with how whenever the game goes 50% off on Steam it hits the #1 global bestseller easily, it's fair to say it's probably somewhat close to console sales at this point. So imo it just comes down to one reason or another (or both).

A. Capcom are using the Rockstar tactic of double dipping as they know there will be people on PC who do have a console and don't want to wait for the new content.
B. MH World's port was not outsourced to other developers with more experience since the MH team wanted to do it themselves and it being the first port they've done to PC. Added with the general issues of the PC port they (hopefully) might want to fix with Iceborne coming to PC along with the fact that if they rushed to get the port to quality standards/simultaneous release with consoles, they wouldn't be able to tempt some consumers to double dip.
C. They don't want people on PC to look into the games files and leak future content that might be in there as that did happen with SFV in the past.

I'm fine with letting console players beta test it for a few months so the delayed pc release can be more polished. I wasn't planning on playing it immediately anyway since I want to wait until the inevitable free DLC hunts/monsters are all finished so that I can download one finished game and not have to keep up to date with new patches.
