Is the Powercharm worth it? I don't have tons of money but it seems like one of those decent pick-ups since it says you just have to carry it in your inventory to gain its benefits. How much damage does this passively give or is it a gold trap?

There's really no reason not to carry the powercharm and armorcharm in World, they give you so much inventory space compared to earlier entries and mats don't take up inventory space like before as well, so you don't really lose much by having them and their upgraded versions in your inventory. Still, they are fairly pricey and they aren't mandatory, so they may be better saved until you have more money.

I bought the Powercharm because I have one of those Neanderthal minds that thinks "MORE DAMAGE = QUICKER KILL." Now I'm getting my ass smashed by the Negrigante or whatever this one shotting cocksucker is called. My palico needs to shut the fuck up with this "meowster" talk too.

Nergigante's giant-ass dive hitbox is shit, but it can be dodged. Only consistent way I found was doing the floor dive right before he launches himself towards you. Might not be the most efficient speedrun strat way to dodge, but it was the only way I found to get through those attacks. If you're getting one-shot by his other attacks, you should look into upgrading your armor if possible.

Also make sure you're boosting your max health too, either by eating meals, max/ancient potion or vitality skill. And if you want to go full autismo for more damage you can take mega demondrug + power seed in addition to the powercharm.

  • Fixed an issue where if a monster was caught in a one-shot binder, the binder wire would not appear on a player's screen when they're joining the quest.
  • Fixed an issue where the direction of the Dragonrazer would not be consistent between players when its direction is changed under specific timing.

Miscellaneous

  • The item Pilot Hare Ticket was renamed to Shepherd Hare Ticket, and its description text was updated.
  • Fixed an issue that occurred in the quest "The Eternal Gold Rush" where the battle music would continue to play even after the quest was complete.
  • Fixed an issue where the right analog stick would control the camera while in the Color Blind Settings menu.
  • Fixed an issue where certain steps would give you items you could normally not carry.
  • Changed the guild card title you obtained after slaying Alatreon from "Dragon" to "Element," as it was a duplicate title.
  • Fixed an issue where the Lucky Voucher effect would in rare cases not be reflected properly.
  • Fixed an issue where the player couldn't return to the game screen when using the Surveyor Set.
  • Other miscellaneous bug fixes have also been made.

Negrigante or whatever this one shotting
3 health skills + food + armor potion (these potions are a must, they have infinite duration) + max armor upgrade. With that, you will be able to facetank normal and tempered version of him.
Also use +15 elemental defense food. Elemental defense is percent based, so this is straight -15% damage taken in most cases. Because even some "physical" monster attacks still does have elemental property. But maybe it's actual only in high and master ranks, haven't played low ranks in ages.
If your weapon allows blocking - nergigante dive can be blocked even without guard up skill. Otherwise use superman dive - can go wrong with it in any situation (invincibility frames are huge).

Also a little reminder, if you still don't know this - while you are prone at ground after monster attack - you are invincible. So no chainlock from monsters.

Beat the base game after roughly 30 hours or so, that last gauntlet of quests though.

Nergigante - Biggest wall in the game for me next to that poisonous hellhound in the Rotten Vale. The last 20% or so when he spams divebombs and gets hyper aggressive were hell on earth. Literally had to tap into my PRIME gamer years to bring this cocksucker down.

Wind Dragon - Annoying motherfucker, not a Nergigante, but annoying. The constant tornadoes especially if he gets stunned in one makes you internally seethe. Then he keeps flying around like a cunt making the 50 minute time limit feel like a necessity for this one.

Flame Manticore thing - Not too bad, but my first go-around I forgot to get more of the potions that let you stop taking passive burn damage so that was a shitshow. After I actually prepared it was more of a relaxed encounter compared to the previous two, nearly got hit by the huge explosion which I'm guessing would have killed me if I stayed in a second longer. Overall fun and cool visual design.

Dragon Zombie - My favorite of the bunch but also every bit as annoying as the Wind Dragon until you realize it has massive telegraphed attacks. This one was the most fun for me to fight, I liked the effluvium gimmick that at first makes you think this is going to be a bullshit fight but as the whole thing goes on you start to see how to play it out. Loved how it would play possum and wreck you.

Crystal Dragon Cocksucker - Nowhere near as scary compared to the previous ones, he's so big and easy to hit along with easy to scout attacks. Felt more like a cinematic style of boss fight than a challenging one but his enrage mechanic when he begins speeding up his attacks and gets more aggressive kept things spicy. I'm pissed that I managed to sever his tail but forgot to actually loot the damn thing at the end.

Really cool game, will do Iceborne bullshit tomorrow.

Be sure to do The Witcher crossover. It's interesting in its own, and also does give you nice armor to power through a few starting iceborne missions. Because game expects you to have best of the base game (i.e arch tempered high rank elder dragons armor and weapons).

P.S "Iceborne bullshit"... That's exactly my feelings for their new Fatalis, and overall game direction.

Is this game worth it if I want to play it alone only, or is it somewhat multiplayer mandatory?

I just wishlisted it but I'm not exactly sure if this is multi heavy or not.

It's interesting case of producing a game that is much less charming and with much more bullshit in its endgame than its older predecessors, yet western media hails it as the holy grail of how you bring a franchise into the modern age.

Speaking of bullshit, Barioth is something else.

Nergigante was a nice challenge, I liked his challenge, it was difficult but I felt more like if I died it's because I got greedy and the spikes thing made you have to adjust your strategy on what to hit next. Barioth though is some insanity. Here's an ultra aggressive sack of shit that you constantly have to move the camera around since he's jumping around like a moron, has insane hitbox range with his tail and body, and mistiming any evasive technique on him is pretty much a guarantee goodbye to 70% of your health. Oh by the way, he also for some fucked reason has HP that must be on par or greater than the final boss of the base game.

Eventually I figured out that the fight becomes significantly more manageable when you start breaking down his forelegs and especially cutting off his tail, but getting to that point is such a fucking nightmare. I spent about ten minutes or so waiting for even the slightest opening when he'd stop tripping out just to get some damage on him and the first time doing this I timed out eventually just as he was getting into the limping phase. I finally won the next go around with just two minutes left and I am pretty sure a lot of that was because he didn't enrage for 80% of the fight and drooled/stood there to let me get some good hits in. Ridiculous fight, not even enjoyable because it felt like he was designed for frustration than challenge.

The monster after him, the Nargacuga or whatever, was significantly easier by comparison. Please tell me Barrioth is not the standard for the rest of the expansion and he's just an early gatekeeper/annihilator.

He's a bit of an early gatekeeper but I feel like he sets the tone difficulty wise for the rest of the expansion. It's not so bad because it kind of levels out around there but you keep getting better gear to compensate.

Despite not having some quality of life features that World has (like instant picking herbs) and the technology gap, I enjoyed more MH4U overall.

So you found a wall improved yourself and get past that challange ? Congratz you just found why i love MH series. I wish though all other monsters would get barrioth treatment. Narcagua was painfully easy and not that much differnt from old one. Narca is supposed to be check against all slow moving characters like lance, gunlance with those back attacks and keeping its body out of hunter view.

Nargacuga is but a shadow of its former glory. Barioth was challenging at first but fun.

The real bullshit begins with Zorah Magdaros and continue with the Kulve Taroth recon, the Safi figth or Alatreon. Tediousness for the sake of it.

Doing atm solo (no cats not support crew) run. Game is much more fun this way and reminds me a lot more MHFU rather than later versions in therms of difficulty but i would love for a mod to increase speed of monsters by about 20%.

So, I've kept playing this on and off for the past months, what little time I have to still play gaems. Tried to learn Charged Blade since, on paper, it looks the weapon I should have most fun with and... I managed. I mean, I'm not a pro or a speedrunner but I've just killed Blackveil Vaal, and everything Iceborne threw at me untill now, going solo. The majority of monsters I've beat on my first try, I only carted vs Tigrex (1) Seething Bezelgeuse (1) and Velkhana (2). I'm probably among that small % of players that enjoys the new clutch claw, I hate how during random MP people constantly fail and trigger rage, but being able to knock down a monster 4+ times during an hunt (plus traps and paralysis from cat) means I'm starting to get the hang of keeping the monsters under control, I went back and fought again a number of monster to experiment different builds and I constantly feel it easier when I play alone rather than with randoms. Still doing SOS for fun tho.

CB is indeed a lot of fun, once you get past the learning curve. Such a versatile weapon. Damage, utility (stun and tenderizing), reach, defense (charged shield is best shield). Someone at CAPCOM went through that list and thought, let's also give it a natural mind eye buff, 'coz why not? I completely abandoned the weeb sword for the time being, I still like HBG although I haven't tried it in Iceborne yet. Next weapon I'd like to learn is the hammer but I fear for that I will need to wait for another lockdown.

World is my first MH game ever so I have no previous experience nor can I compare it with previous titles but I frankly endorse it wholeheartedly, a very good action game, probably my favourite of the past 10 years or so.

I'm curious, I play with Mouse+KB and I find the controls extremely good, I suppose those with previous experience prefer using a gamepad, correct?

CB true potential lies in ability to block mid attack. It is one of the most swag weapons if you know how to play and know monster patterns well.

Oh, yes. Guard points are teh shiet. I won't act like I know how to use them properly mid-combo, although I've learned how to use the easier ones (draw, switch) to increase effective guard level and the occasional counter. In any case, even in the hands of a newb like me, it's still an highly versatile weapon that allows you to stay close to the action and in the thick of it. With proper levels of guard (usually 1-3 since charging gives your shield +2 guard) you're able to deflect blows without losing ground and immediately punish an opening. It's also a match made in heaven for Offensive Guard.

As for mid-combo guard points, I'm not even trying to learn those. You need a deep confidence with the game as whole and with each specific monster to properly use them, atm I have about 200 hours of play time HR 88 MR 20, not even close to caring about being swag. Learning how to position myself, how to properly build my skillset and a general knoweledge of consumables and regions layout is far more important imho. Obviously if you're a veteran those are either much easier to grasp or skills you have already learned as player. Me? I'm happy CB allows me to stay in the tick of it with relative ease, once you're gud you can start caring about speedrunning and combat coreography, up untill then I assure you that from a newb point of view it's still an incredibly satisfying and effective weapon, even without taking mid-combo GP into consideration. Unfortunately I feel like I've hit a ceiling for the time being, I'm starting to think I should probably switch weapon and learn a new one to give me a new perspective, my brain is defaulting to the same 3-4 combos and avenues of approach. Maybe I should broaden my knoweledge before trying to get better with CB.

Do you use a gamepad or M+K Perkel?
