Could use a bit more voice-acting
Please never say this again in public, as it is proven to have a detrimental effect on our collective chances of having nice things. Thank you in advance.

Use Tony K's AI mod (the one that came with SoZ is busted) and set it to core rules. Hard just makes enemies hit for double damage.

That mod fixes none of the core issues since those are a result of the RTwP than the AI.
It still makes the combat better cause
1) All creatures, both friends and foes, will make more intelligent choices about weapon switching, spellcasting, targeting, healing, feat/skill usage, dual wielding, and summoning during combat.
7) AI is scaled based on the creature’s intelligence. Very low intelligence creatures only attack closest target, high intelligence creatures find and exploit enemies’ weaknesses. The AI will not cast inappropriate spells against a target that is immune to them, including elemental immunities like fire.

Edgy. I don't mind the lack of voice-acting, it's the way it's poorly implemented that bugs me.

- The "cinematic" camera is used for many conversations even without voice acting, which is very awkward-looking.
- Lack of voice-acting makes it difficult for the game to communicate the tone, intentions, etc. of characters sometimes.
- Dialogue is not very extensive in this game either, there is way less than any of the other expansions - the argument htat it leads to "higher quality" writing and "more stuff" does not hold here.
- By using voice-acting for important stuff early on, it sets expectations that there will be more later, and there isn't. I'd prefer either "sound bites", all, or nothing.

but the argument of a tight budget holds. btw there're some interesting insights of the creation of mow. part 1, part 2, part 3 and part 4.

i'll just chip in to remind you people that NWN2, even patched, is a piece of shit bugfest that will crash every 5 minutes. Not even saying that as a figure of speech, it WILL crash every 5 minutes.

Totally not my case, but I guess I'm lucky.

crashed for me all the time on two completely different computers. on my current rig, it literally crashes every five minutes. I tried with different driver versions, DX versions, patches and stuff. Nothing works. i tried to play on a persistent world and just couldn't be bothered restarting so often. Oh well.

Not one crash, ever. The only problem that I had with NWN2 is that the OC is boring, but there are some great mods out there that compensate.

Were you using a legitimate version or a cracked copy?

it never crashed for me too. there were crashes now and then unpatched but that was due to an ancient rig.

High level D&D does suck cock.

Errmm..... but, didn't you once say that you liked that?

No. I hate high level D&D. It's retarded.

You didn't like Pools of Darkness and Dark Queen of Krynn, the two best Gold Box games IMO?

I have not to this day, finished Pools of Darkness or Dark Queen of Krynn. :(

I'm shocked. I thought you were one of the great Gold Box aficionados. You sure have missed some excellent high level AD&D. Even FRUA modules concentrate mainly on low or mid level adventures, so PoD and DQK are your best bets to experience 2nd edition high level AD&D with all spells available (too bad Delayed Blast Fireball is so superior, though).
IMO the IE games beats the Gold Box games when you are low and mid level, but I prefer PoD and DQK to Throne of Bhaal.

Played a pirated totally legit copy on a very shitty laptop back when they came out. Never crashed. Not even once.

You might want to check out NWN 2 client extension, in that case: http://nwvault.ign.com/fms/Download.php?id=169006

Never heard of such poor perfomance, though. Did you install C++ runtime library? DirectX 9 for win 7?

Also, as a general rule, you might want to clear your Temp (type %TEMP% in explorer address bar).

EDIT: Also, I suggest to Delete/Rename either 'override' folder in Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2 directory or entire NEverwinter Nights 2 directory in documents.

oh, i've tried all of that, worry not.
also, needless to say, every other single game installed on my computer works like a charm.
