It's Beamdog's "democratization of game development" that I couldn't put up with in the end. I've written about that at length so I won't repeat it here, but I'm totally against that sort of thing and lose respect for devs who listen too much to their fans. It's like they didn't listen at all to the Infinity fanbase and now the pendulum swings too far the other way with Aurora.

I didnt want to even get dragged into this fucking thread and then Lulira goes and gets herself banned and I end up here in some strange twist of fate- Its like a fucking butterfly flapping its wings and causing a hurricane a month later and 1000 miles away...This shit never ends well.

I never played the SJW beamdog shit and i'm sure its as cringeworthy as everyone claims- But I'm for taking a 'wait and see' approach to how they handle anything new and if they decide to inject identity politics in my fucking fantasy game...I want to slay dragons and shit not talk about trannies and their issues. The same way I cannot stand 'romance' in my RPGs.

But even IF they go full blown retard on any additional content- The saving grace here is that the bulk of the good stuff is all user made anyhow and talented people could just make modules where we 'purge the land' of degeneracy and make neverwinter great again...For the lols.

I'd prefer to just play some fucking D & D without any political agenda and thats why ive always avoided the persistent worlds anyhow- Montherfuckers want to cyber and play make believe instead of killing and looting the forces of evil.

So I say theres really no way they can fuck this up because they do not have control of the game when the people making the bulk of the content will have nothing to do with them. I love(d) NWN back in the day and its a great game and getting some of the enhancements will just make it worth checking out the thousands of modules that already exist along with new ones.

Its win/win no matter what imho.

I was a cunt before I started posting on the Codex. But yeah, I feel most comfortable posting here when I'm not blogging.

Basically, because I can't stand being around a rabble that I'm not free to criticize/insult, because "everyone is equal, everyone's opinion is equal." No one I respect believes that. When the lead admin said what he said in PM, I decided to tell him what I think of him, too. And call for my ban.

Also, my criticism of Beamdog increased gradually on my blog and on their forums. I didn't just go all out attack mode and be a cunt, like I do sometimes on the 'Dex. I tempered my words until the rabble came at me. I lose nothing by being banned, but Beamdog lose a valuable commentator with an independent narrative of Aurora who isn't on their payroll, because motherly moderators lectured me about everyone being equal and nurturing overly friendly forums (sickeningly so, similar to RPGWatch, whose lead admin I also wrote off on his own forum). Now, they have me working against their narrative because I will only continue to post favorably about original, non-EE Aurora, like I did for Infinity when they tried to control the narrative of that engine/community, too.

It's no skin off my back to work against and independently of their EE narrative; already successfully did that for Infinity. Thus, I don't want ban lifted.

The game is already "fantastic". But Beamdog just loves to patch and update, patch and update. And talk on Twitch streams, reshuffle Trello cards and listen intently to a contemptible rabble. It's their shtick. Look at their IE:EEs, for example. Five years later, they are still being patched and updated. They are actually proud of this; calling it "dedication". The entirety of NWN was made in that time. Ok, so Beamdog only have seven people working on NWN:EE? Well, ToEE was made by seven people in six months despite publisher interference/ruleset change midway. Despite its bugs, it's got cult status and respect for it continues to steadily grow as time wears on.

I dont know- If we're talking Government then sure.

I will say this- I'm so far to the right that I make conservative republicans look like commie reds and I own a small business and I would always claim "I treat all my customers and creditors equally" as a general 'policy statement' (If I were professional enough to have such a thing) but its bullshit... If I were leading a multinational corporation I would be l would be the biggest supervillan ever but my statement would be "feed the world" while I plundered everything and split it up with my friends leaving desolate wastelands behind me with nothing but twig huts and kids with flies on them...I would also hire Cleve to set up vault OS so we could thwart the Mossad who would certainly be trying to take hostile control of my empire.

Its no different that some corporation donating a tiny portion of their income to some environmental cause or charity (which is highly profitable to someone they know), taking a huge tax write off and then polluting like hell but making a policy statement of "we care about the environment"- Plastered on all their commercials- Its just words and a policy that really amount to shit. Every single company does this shit.

They are in business and all businesses have policies that are nothing more than talking points- Of course they will say that and even if they actually believe it it doesnt make it so- Its their place to set whatever rules they wish which to me is a property rights thing...Regardless of my feelings about it.

I'm not walking away at this point: I have sought out contributing authors because pretty soon I won't have time to post like I have been, that's all. I have a few applicants to consider who don't subscribe to Beamdog's EE narratives, too.

But yeah, I can foresee a few controversies coming up in the future, such as the fate of neverwintervault.org and the Steam Workshop integration. There will be a lot to commentate on.
