this game is so bland and has so little going for it that its thread has turned into some equally bland bloggers soap box.

To be fair, all of your posts in this thread have been bland, too. Waiting for you to say something interesting.

there's nothing interesting to say about the game, or anything beamdog has or ever will make.

Aurora is a dynamic, multi-faceted platform that I have been able to commentate on for several years. I'm sorry if you think my commentary bland: I tried my best but I guess my best just isn't good enough for someone of your calibre.

Beamdog are bringing the Masterserver back online and supporting the in game multiplayer listings.

The enduring persistent worlds are gearing up and building for relaunches in anticipation of the influx of new and returning players. Some shut down servers, due to the in game listings going down, are planning a return to EE. Content creators are returning.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
“all ideas/opinions are equal.” No one honestly believes that.

Yet Beamdog enforce it on their petty forums and mechanize it through Trello...

Allah be with you in this prestigious jihad.

Beamdog and most other corporate run fora (not forums apparently—the more you know!), enforce this stuff because they think it’s good for business. As a general policy they are almost certainly right. The idiot demographic is always going to massively outnumber the well informed but impolite demographic. In your case they appear to have made a miscalculation, since who the hell else actively covers this game aside from you, everyone’s favorite bro-bot and the empty husk that is RPGWatch. Presumably the moderator who banned you is going to get chewed out for it; from management’s perspective it has to be better to have you inside the Beamdog tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in. Just look at what happened when inXile pissed off this place.

Dude, nothing is more bland than the NWN OC (except maybe Pathfinder).

Having been on the receiving end of your high handed cunt mode (no offense), I think this kind of faux humility is far more cutting.

I share this view. Beamdog's PR skills are infantile. Their lead admin doesn't even have English as a first language, so communication is stunted. Why he is even employed by them I have no idea. But my misstep was that I got sucked into posting more frequently than I wanted to in the first place. I was encouraged to by certain people, and one of the custom content creators whom I respect was posting about his content, so I thought I should show support. From there, I found myself engaged with the "idiot demographic" in other threads, called them such, and was set upon by the rabble and a few bottom-feeder modders who have petty grievances with me (and are also known slimeballs). Contempt for the rabble grew from there, I told everyone what I thought of them, wrote them off, called to be banned, and my wish was granted. Again, the misstep was engaging with a rabble in the first place in an echo chamber such as the Beamdog forums.

"build it and they will come" does not apply to games, especially not old prequel games revitalized by an incompetent company with 0 new features. do you think people will flock to purchasing NWN1:EE? within a year the audience will be gone and the content creators will go away again as quickly as they reappeared.

Relaunch it on steam and they will come. Players are much more likely to play a game or even just check up on it to see what's happening when its on Steam as opposed to sitting in a dusty old closet on CDs. My laptop doesn't even have a DVD drive, I had to use my old laptop to make images to install the damned thing. Would have probably been quicker to just torrent it.

You've no idea how bad the server listings going down hurt the online community. New players will find the online community straight away with EE. The player numbers will boom, and regardless of how much they drop, they will be notably higher than current numbers(which have increased just from the announcement of EE).

The lasting PWs are still pretty strong and weren't going anywhere for a long while regardless of EE.

Your move junior.

I'd be willing to bet that someone who doesn't like NwN, like you, would: play it and still not like the OC. Then look for player made mods, play a few of them, still not really like it. Then you'd move on to the next game. Then recount: "I played NwN:EE it had FPC, but I still didn't really like it. Maybe I'll put it back on my 'list' one day and see if there's any better FPC modules out there"

I'm willing to bet i know myself better than you do? So yah, I'm p. sure FPC would go a long way in me liking NWN a lot more.

This poll is from an impartial Infinity/Aurora blog that has covered both original and EE engine versions. Is this overwhelmingly positive and cause for fabulous optimism?

We don't know how Steam will respond to NWN:EE. There are a lot of Beamdog haters on Steam. Also, GoG is filled with Beamdog haters. This is because Beamdog has an objectively less-than-stellar track record, in respect to their public relations and actual releases.

Most rpg fans do hate them. They fucked up a lot of shit. Only way to get old versions of "their" games is to pirate them.

sorry Lilura I didn't mean to lash out at your blog (I didn't even read it). I just saw some bioware forum-like drama hyped up in shoutbox by infinitron so I attacked whatever I saw in the thread because I'm sick and tired of beamdog getting attention for necrowhoring old titles.

In addition to what Octavius said (some people don't want to buy the EEs just to get the originals, because that supports a company they dislike), you could also buy the originals on Amazon for a reasonable price. I've got the original CDs/DVDs for lots of old RPGs so I'm not too bothered.

I had community-based and selfish reasons for covering NWN:EE. My agenda has changed now.

I am happy that managed to snag the Torment before they made the EE. Hate to give them money. They should ask the trannies and the faggs to buy their games.

I believe they managed to piss a few trannies off with SoD. Not sure about the fags.
Oh yeah, i was laughing my ass off during the tranny drama. Their forum was the place to watch and gobble down a lot of popcorn :). Fun times, they managed to piss of quiet a few trannies there.

Virtue-signaling devs are the worst. To be fair, both of the credited writers for SoD are gone.

Gaider wrote Irenicus, Hordes of the Underdark and Dragon Age: Origins, but I am not sure what his recent form is (he is working on an as-yet-announced title at Beamdog).

At the end of the day all this talk is kind of pointless. Its clear that if they want a prayer of a chance in steam they gotta release:

- A fully moddable game
- Fully patched with all the fan fixes
- With every modification from the PRC that isnt bugged
- With the popular used skin and asset

NWN may be an old game, but steam can revive it in a big way with proper support. Push character customization, PWs and module creation and it should do fine.

I see you have lost some of your edge.
My edge gets dull after a bottle of Rakija,as my perception of women. Still wouldn't mind giving it to you up the ass :smug:.
As for game, everything is shit until i decide that is not! Talking about game while they are in the making is a thing people do to kill the time, now ripping it apart after it comes out is whole different story. Also unlike many people here i do feel happy if some game manage to do something right, after all i am rpg fan.
