Pretty much what I expected. NWN was never designed as a FPC game, and thus they aren't going to change it down that direction.
If you didn't like nwn then FPC won't change your mind and if you loved nwn FPC does very little for you.

Here is the locked Beamdog thread I referred to.

I bought NWN 2 complete edition recently to try out MoB and I must say that both the combat and the camera makes me actively hate the game.

Try this: Strategy Mode cam, Camera Mode: Can Be Moved Freely (Free Camera), Ceilings Always Off and Marquee Select On. Rotate with MMB.

If you still hate it then you just suck. Pure and simple.

Sure signs of a scrub: dislike of MotB spirit meter, dislike of SoZ OLM, dislike of FPC, dislike of Fallout time limit, inability to get to grips with Electron cam and control, inability to use keyboard in Gothic etc etc.

Haha, you've started using those hot bitch animated GIFs on your blog? Keep it up with stuff like that and you'll get plenty of hits.

There is little else for me to say, but stay tuned for my upcoming series of posts criticizing the Beamdog forums, which will be entitled Beamdog Butterflies. Starring: Various no-namers and certain bottom-feeder custom content creators! If motherly moderators are going to lock threads and censor criticism of the ignorant posts of butterflies, then I'll just post responses to them here as I see fit — with zero diplomacy — and reach a wider readership, anyway!

Sorry, has-beens are not allowed. Only "super-obsessive and reeks of stimulate use" get a look-in (to quote the most recent comment about my blog on the comment stream). Interested in becoming a contributing author on my blog aweigh? You could just post a one-off, if you like.

Here are a few other Codexers I would consider that I can think of, off-hand: Lacrymas, Lhynn, octavius, V_K etc. Basically, IE-based posts result in the most interest. But people can post about whatever they like, from the birth of RPGs up to the current gen.

NWN:EE Head Start Patch Notes v74.8156

Step by step, Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition marches closer to Steam!

Patch 8156 brings a few asked-for features and a little experimental code to NWN:EE. All the feedback and bug reports submitted by Head Start players has really helped move things along. Keep up the good work!
Two multiplayer bugs have been introduced and will only affect players for a short time.

Normally servers you cannot connect to due to version differences would be grayed out in the server list browser. This is not currently the case.
Also, all servers are shown as PVP even if they are not. This will not affect whether a server is PVP or not.
Both of these issues will be fixed early next week.

Fixes
  • Fixed a divide-by-zero when modding restduration.2da to very short durations.
  • Another OpenMP3-related crash fix when playing some stereo custom content music.
  • Another shadow edges-related fix that resulted in visual corruption.
  • Anti-aliasing now works again, after a previous fix accidentally disabled it.
  • Reading PLTs could sometime result in garbled icons or crashing the game when the item in question is area-placed or loaded from a savegame. This has been fixed.
  • Yet another crash with duplicated inventories in CopyArea() was fixed.

Features
Main menu music is now configurable in nwn.ini:
New nwn.ini options
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

[Sound Options]
  • By popular request, the main menu music now defaults to the original NWN theme and can now be changed. Try some of the following:
    mus_theme_main (Original Campaign main theme)
    mus_x2theme (HotU main theme)
    mus_dd_witchwake (Witch's Wake main theme)
mus_wc_theme (Wyvern Crown of Cormyr main theme)
Other bmu files in your install dir/data/mus/
  • The SSAO shader has been improved and re-enabled. Thanks to Zarathustra217 for the help!
SSAO_OFF.png

Ambient occlusion shader off

Ambient occlusion shader on. Notice the shadows in nooks and corners? Subtle, but effective!
  • Added support for skinmeshes on armour parts. This feature is still in early stages and may have some issues. Be sure to submit any bugs you run into!
  • Included experimental code for supporting normal and specular maps.
  • The server list is now retrieved via json when opening the multiplayer UI, instead of enumerating in the game itself. This allows us to list otherwise unreachable servers.
  • For unreachable servers, we’re attempting a NAT punch. This will work for the majority of consumer routers. We plan to plan to address remaining NAT types in future patches.
  • Preliminary support for Steam friends lists.

New Script Commands
  • int GetSurfaceMaterial(location at);
// Get the surface material at the given location. (This is equivalent to the walkmesh type).
// Returns 0 if the location is invalid or has no surface type.
  • float GetGroundHeight(location at);
// Returns the z-offset at which the walkmesh is at the given location.
// Returns -6.0 for invalid locations.

What did you expect? You provoked them, of course they're gonna ban you.

The most retarded thing is that you wanted to post there in the first place.

I read the moderator's comment in that thread (before they closed it) and they seem entirely reasonable (I rolled my eyes at the kindness speech, but whatever, that is their right and they are up front about it...)

You deserved the ban, next time don't be such a fucking asshole on someone's forum. I joined the Codex back in the day when game companies like Bethesda really WERE being assholes. You'd get banned from the old Elder Scrolls forums simply for writing something negative about Oblivion or Fallout 3.

That was a shitty forum worth trolling.

I disagree with this. One of my biggest issues when I tried playing the NWN OC was lack of FPC. So I decided to completely write off my list. Only recently have I found out that modders were able to add it in, so I added it back. Yes, the IC is shit and camera is retarded. Combat is not as good implementation of RTwP as in EI games. But FPC means I'll at least give it another shot.

February 2 Livestream Recap

During today’s livestream Beamdog CEO Trent Oster and Studio Director Phillip Daigle went through the latest Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition updates and Beamdog news.

They went on to share a few details about the upcoming 2.5 patch for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition. They also leaked the theme to a (possible) future module contest for NWN:EE: “Kill Phil.”

Missed the stream? It's on YouTube and Twitch!

Here's a quick summary of the highlights from the livestream:
  • Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition Head Start got a new patch today. Check out the NWN:EE Head Start Patch Notes v74.8156 here.
  • If you haven’t heard, the Head Start program is an Early Access to Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition. Pre-order the game today on Beamdog and to get access. This is your chance to try new enhancements, share ideas on the forums about what you think may improve Neverwinter Nights.
  • Don’t forget to vote for the suggestions you like the most on the Input Trello board and follow the development process on theRoadmap Trello board.
  • By popular request, the main menu music now defaults to the original Neverwinter Nights theme. In the .ini settings you can now choose between the Original Campaign main theme, the HotU main theme, the Witch's Wake main theme and the Wyvern Crown of Cormyr main theme. Any of the .BMU files may be chosen for your main menu music.
  • Support for Normal and Specular Maps has been included in this patch. This is an early version of the feature and we’re continuing to work on it.

The screen space ambient occlusion post process shader has been improved and re-enabled. See the images above with it turned off (the 1st image) and turned on (the 2nd image)
    • The v74.8156 build re-introduces screen space ambient occlusion post process shaders into Neverwinter Nights. Now floors, stairs, walls and other objects will look better. It’s a cool feature that we’ll be continuing to work on, but take note that it can feel a bit heavy if you play at a large resolution.
    • It’s currently not available for public access, but internally we’re testing the Steam Friends List support.
    • We have plans for additional portraits for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition. But getting back original Neverwinter Nights portraits which were available at the release of the vanilla game and later patched out is not possible due to legal reasons. If you want a feature where you can change your portrait in-game, share your suggestion on the forum.
    • If you’re interested in a feature highlighting in-game chat text in color or bold/italic styles, let us know in the forums.

A Baldur’s Gate II sword, a gift to Trent from the Bioware team back in the day.

The first smithing experience of Trent, a tomahawk axe. The coloration is natural, temperature-based.
    • Going forward, we have plenty to do about the Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition Toolset. We are currently looking for a few good designers, developers, programmers, and more! On our career page here you can find all the recent job listings.
    • We see ourselves as curators of original content. Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition is about adding and improving, not reinventing.
    • The 2.5 patch for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition is actively being worked on right now. Over the holiday break we have got amazing feedback from players and we’re going through it. This patch will restore original German VO for Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition. We need to investigate and turn up what other original VO is available to be included with future patches.

Excited for what’s next? Come and join the next livestream next Friday!

You disagree but....
You don't play NwN. You didn't like the OC. You hate the camera. You don't like the combat. You don't play NwN, but.... You might give it another shot if they implement FPC....

If they added FPC - Keeping in mind that when EE is released its most likely that the OC's won't be redesigned for FPC. There will be little to no content focussed on FPC from the community(at first). I'd be willing to bet that someone who doesn't like NwN, like you, would: play it and still not like the OC. Then look for player made mods, play a few of them, still not really like it. Then you'd move on to the next game. Then recount: "I played NwN:EE it had FPC, but I still didn't really like it. Maybe I'll put it back on my 'list' one day and see if there's any better FPC modules out there"

Beamdog aren't making a new game. They are updating an old game. Are they meant to focus their efforts on things that people who don't like NwN claim they want? Or focus on things that people from the community over the last 15 years want? Keep in mind that the majority of the playerbase, who actually liked NwN, don't play it anymore. If the game is updated with them in mind a large amount will return for some time. People who don't like the game will still not like it, because its an update not a new game.

If the community wants FPC that's OK with me. But its a horrid idea to focus on things in a attempt to draw in players who didn't like the game.

I agree with this. I've no idea what you're trying to achieve by being so douchey. You're actually just hurting your reputation. Keep acting like that and why would anyone give you an interview or anything.

You act as if it is something Cuckdog's not done before. Remember "Hi! I'm a tranny!"?

No because I've not 'experienced' any of their content before. I really hope they don't fuck up NWN.
