If they make success with it maybe they will make nwn3 with 5e rules, gritty dark medieval graphics and enthralling story.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Sooo... I haven't bought this. Never really minded the game as it was. I might pick it up if it's on sale on GOG, and they radically improves the graphics. Also wanted to know if they lied about it being backward compatible with all mods? Or are the modders that are still active having to update?.

Maybe some secluded wealthy businessman interested in rpgs will show up and donate them lots of money.

It's backwards compatible with older modules.
Although there's really not much difference between EE and the base game right now. So I would hold off on buying it if you don't care about PW's or Building new content.

No, I was talking about the other ones.

There are no free Premium modules that were made by another company except DoD by Ossian.
All the others were made in house by Bioware and were never free.. Unless you are pirating them now.. which is fine, I don't care but.. wtf are you talking about?

Keep treading water..

NWN:EE has improved a ton of features under the covers, open sourced it's shader / material engine, increased asset pipeline and more hooks into the engine for scripting. None of that is a benefit to players unless mod creators utilize it though.

And it's doubtful they will. Before EE was announced, there were only three notable single-player module builders still active (forgive me if I left someone notable out): author of Swordflight, author of Sanctum of the Archmage, and author of Auren. It's been over a year since the EE was released, and no new SP project has been announced of note. Andarian has updated SotA for EE, Ossian patched Darkness Over Daggerford (EE-only), and Savant updated his Aielund and its skyboxes for EE (and Diamond), but those are not new adventures.

Meanwhile, the EE has broken A Dance With Rogues. It has caused a transitional bug in Swordflight (an otherwise comparatively bugless campaign). And I don't believe Aielund has been spared either. EE has also broken the most popular UI mod. And who knows what else, there aren't enough players to tell.

I clearly said that in a year or two, when the community actually utilizes those changes, it will be the superior product

It's not when but if. No one of any standing has announced a new project in over a year since the EE was released. The best the EE did was make a ripple that got DoD, Sanctum and Aielund updated (and the Aielund update benefits Diamond players, too).

also Beamdog is funding the overhaul of the graphics and is continuing to support the product, patching it on a regular basis.

As I said, that's six and one half dozen. Support and patching of their own self-injected bugs is not an attractive selling point to Diamond players. As with their EEs, they patch and update, patch and update. And in the end, there is not an objectively superior product after six years. This goes for BG, IWD and BG2.

We're talking framerate, compatibility and performance. That stuff on EE is going to differ from setup to setup just as Diamond does. Six and one half dozen.

NWSync already is a huge net positive over the standard NWN1 game. You don't need to download your haks manually, The game will auto fetch them when you join a Persistent World and it will never download the same file twice if I understand correctly (using some internal database on your computer). If you don't think that's a valuable feature, okay fine - but it's what the community voted for, it's what went on the Trello board and it's what they shipped 2 weeks ago.

That is a "feature" for people who don't know how to download files and put them into the right folders. For 10 years, people were doing it just fine. Suddenly, everyone's a retard incapable of simple file management.

Also, selling MP doesn't work on the 'Dex. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the vast majority of people here play SP games. Thus, NWSync is irrelevant.

The Trello board doesn't represent the NWN community. It's mostly the Beamdog butterflies who post on the forums (a Trello card must link to a forum topic).

Compatibility issues already exist; see above.

So I would hold off on buying it if you don't care about PW's or Building new content.

Diamond is still compatible with more servers than EE. Also, 'Dex doesn't care about PWs or MP. The EE toolset is also not faster than the Diamond one. In fact, it's slower for me. This may vary from setup to setup, but that's the point isn't it.

Beamdog still have a chance to revitalize the NWN community by putting out some really good, HOTU or MOTB quality premium modules with upgraded toolset features and full party control.

We can most definitely rely on them to do that.

Because they put EE development in perspective better than most posts out there, here are remarks by Rogueknight 333 (1, 2).

I'll just shotgun a few responses to your other post:

- Many Dexers play on NWN PW's..
- Trello cards don't need a forum post, you can get them added over discord and they will just be stubbed a card.
- "Beamdog Butterflies" are not an accurate portrayal of where those cards come from.. Check the people who registered on that forum the day the EE was announced. The Vault almost moved en masse to that forum so they could give feedback.

- NWSync reduces memory footprint because you aren't downloading that same custom chair from 12 different hak packs, only the first time you need it. It's also convenient that you don't need to go dig up all 13 hak packs across the Steam workshop or some shitty geocities tier website. You just connect and your in. This also is way more convenient for server admins who want to push small updates to their PW.. They don't need to direct 40 - 60 players to their website.. it just automatically pulls the latest changes and merges them locally.

If you don't like that feature (as I've said 100 times) that's fine.. but it is what the community wanted.

- Many of the best content creators that have ever been apart of this community are involved

- Why are you talking about A Dance With Rogues? Doesn't your blog have a No-Adult content policy and you refuse to ever review such modules? Are you saying you do play those modules?
Roguey's Hong Kong QT likes a little Adult Content in their modules? Oh my!

:smug:

Wrong.
All the largest servers like Arelith / Ravenloft / ect.. Have moved to EE and have larger player bases there.
In fact the staff that works on Arelith are helping develop NWN:EE and are on the NWNX team.

The only server that isn't migrating is Sinfar because their modified client isn't compatible with NWN:EE - But they still have a NWN:EE Portal that directs players back into their NWN1 server.

Because they put EE development in perspective better than most posts out there, here are remarks by Rogueknight 333 (1, 2).

But he doesn't say what you say.
His main points are that he thinks Beamdog went in the right direction to maintain backwards comparability.. That there will be an annoyance of maintaining two branches of modules until everyone migrates to NWN:EE and that this game could bring more people to the community which is a net positive.

Lilura you are a tourist.. You don't actually know anything that is going on or what this community actually wants.

This is a SP public venue. MMOs and mini-MMOs like NWN online barely get a look-in. The NWN/NWN2 thread is 99% SP commentary.

Trello cards don't need a forum post, you can get them added over discord and they will just be stubbed a card.

Same diff.

The Vault almost moved en masse to that forum so they could give feedback.

A few notables registered, have started this and that thread in order to promote their modules, and have commented here and there to have their say, but to say they moved there en masse (as in, they left the Vault), is bull. Most of them are pro-Vault preservation because they have an historical perspective that newbies like you lack. The Beamdog-hosted community isn't where all the activity is for NWN. It's basically just a development forum for EE. When it comes to actually playing the game the Beamdog forums are as quiet as a tomb, and you can hear a pin drop. There is more activity on reddit and the Vault when it comes to playing and enjoying the game. In the last year, my blog has been more active in that respect.

NWSync ... it is what the community wanted.

Nope. It's mainly what Niv wanted and pushed for. He's 100% multi-player. See his GoG editorial. Then see the one a GoG editor posted where he/she linked to my blog several times. Because I'm 100% single-player and GoG is mostly SP. Again, vast majority of people who comment in this thread and in the NWN/NWN2 thread are as well.

Many of the best content creators that have ever been apart of this community are involved

A few, son. A few. Niv is the most notable. Many others have not been heard of in years. Others came in with enthusiasm, and have since gone quiet.

Why are you talking about A Dance With Rogues? Doesn't your blog have a No-Adult content policy and you refuse to ever review such modules?

Am I reviewing it? Is this my blog? It's a fact ADWR is broken on EE. I only mention it because it's by far the most popular SP module. And the EE broke it. In add, see my citations above and keep in mind other stuff is likely broken, too. And just hasn't been reported on. Unlike you, I actually have played EE and can prove it (see my DoD review).

Nice dumbing down on what he said. Anyone can read it for themselves, so I'll just leave the link there. I'm not saying Rogueknight 333 is on my side. I posted it because it's an interesting read for the other guy.

Lilura you are a tourist.. You don't actually know anything that is going on or what this community actually wants.

FPC!

But srsly, I don't commentate on multi-player anything. Never will. But I'm not a tourist when it comes to mods and SP. That's my agenda.

You, OTOH, are but a shitposter lost in the shuffle; a non-entity, a Nothing. Unread.

Beamdog's forums have a couple interesting developments going on with NWN:EE, especially all the efforts going on to a have a fully playable Dark Sun world for toolset builders to use, but it's by no means the place to be for NWN:EE news. Also, the people there are cancer.

All pornography in this mod is entirely optional. You can fade-to-black the rape scene near the beginning. What makes the module great is the amount of effort put in the world building and telling an interesting story using the base game's mechanics, and it does the job better than the original campaign. The porn is there for those that like it, and besides, sex sells.

Essentially the "I watch hentai for the plot" argument but whatever.. I think it's fine - I just think it's hilarious that "Holier than Thou" Lilura faps to NWN1 erotica..

It would explain why they are so mad at EE.. Their rogue porn is being messed with by Beamdog.

After all the EE devs moved into discord.. I think most of useful community members have stopped using forums altogether. Just what I heard.

ADWR isn't interesting only due to the plot, but also because it's fundamentally written from the perspective of a woman, giving it a slightly different feel, especially the interactions of the protagonist with the other characters. This, coupled with it being a good (rogue) module in general, situates it at a pretty unique place in gaming as a whole. And as Bocian said, all porn is optional. I also find it unendingly amusing the most famous "porn module" is made by a woman.

Optional? The whole module is basically a woman's romance novel with a high focus on rape fetish & whoring out. There is absolutely no reason to play it unless you're into those themes, since the actual gameplay, plot, design and balance are on the scale of nothing special to mediocre to shit. Yes, you can skip most of that fetish crap, but if you do you're pretty much skipping the actual content and playing the filler which ties it together.

I'd put money on Honor Among Thieves being the superior rogue-based module.

Again, have you played it, or are you just shitposting? Judging on above, you haven't played it. The module is more of an RPG than original campaigns. In almost all dialogue choices you can roleplay the character as a prude and fend off all "advances", any "content" that you'd miss is probably some cringy fanfic - if that's your definiton of real content, suit yourself, but you're lying if you say it's the only thing it has. Some NWN's mechanics are hard to circumvent (either you're 100% hidden or you're not), but the actual sneaking can be rewarding; enemies have patrol routes, you can steal keys from their pockets, you can explore the hidden areas to find money or loot.

it's fundamentally written from the perspective of a woman
This isn't 100% true.
Why not?
Probably because our resident white knights couldn't fathom that a woman might enjoy sex and/or rape.
