I did, I didn't like it that much. It was too juvenile for my taste.

I think I played it until I reach one of the cities in the desert so not that long. It might get better or something, I don't really know.

I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but there's a pretty ambitious-looking Dance With Rogues erotic homage city-based rogue mod that's turned up recently on the Vault. Boasting 100% quest-based XP, an 100% non-violent path, and uh, lockpicking mini-games.

Did any guy play Dance with Rogues and actually finish it?

I tried to play it since it was rated as one of the best but I kept getting raped 2min in. I tried different builds and there were some differences but the rape was unavoidable so I dropped it.

It is totally impossible to avoid rape in ADWR.

I guess the rape is part of the character story. Only, the author chose to let you enjoy the railroad that leads to the rape instead of having it in the background.
I mean, the only problem is in fact that you cannot avoid it, I don't think any of us have a problem playing damaged characters, they make for the most interesting people to play as, but the way it's presented in ADWR feels like the author was out to school you, the player, about rape.

Now, my point of view in this is that I can shield myself pretty easily from this kind of stuff, but yes. I wanted to avoid it and failed.
Heavy-handed, surely. But then you want to kill their asses, even more so.

Anyone have any opinions on Aielund vs. Arterra? They seem to be the only mods that are big enough and well-done enough for me to play, but I finished Arterra - The Lost and found it very disappointing story-wise, although the writing was good. The writing on Aielund is good too but it's so linear I grew tired of it--is it worth it to keep going?

Note: I enjoy the following in games--
1. Good plot that has some moral clash/idea/dilemma
2. Non-linear plots in an open world
3. C&C
4. Multiple party members that I create, not henchmen

You might try Honor Amongst Thieves (for C&C and semi-non-linearity) and Almraiven (for Open World... well, 'open city'). There are no mods where you create multiple party members, it's just not part of the engine. Tortured Hearts II is also pretty open and non-linear, but I could never really get into it.

And the mods you asked about -- Aielund devolves into a bit of a clusterfuck at the end of the 3rd module, but is fairly fun up until then. It's been a *long* time, but I recall the 2nd module of the Arterra series being much better than the 1st.

There's no way to avoid being raped by that asshole Vico ; in fact, I'm pretty sure that all the "choices" that come before have no consequence whatsoever. The other rapes in the module are (I think) optional.

While the author's fantasies obviously won't be to everyone's taste, the module really has some very good things (impressive attention to detail, good use of rogue skills, great difficulty of relying on pure strength, good urban setting...). Its second half, however, is often linear and tends to forget about the main plot (even at times when it really shouldn't).

Just check the first missions in RK's LP, they'll give you a clear idea.

The second Dance with Rogues module (yes, there is one) unfortunately doesn't have many good elements.

Well, faithlessness seems like a bit of a counterfactual argument in a universe where gods demonstrably and tangibly exist.

I suppose it's more a thing of not worshiping the gods, rather than not believing in their existence. Even so, I fail to see what would the benefits be for one who doesn't worship them, especially if he knows about the wall. Like, "Wut? Fuck gods, I'll just go in that fucking wall! lol". Rebellious, but stupid.

Well, its a fantasy. The deities in Forgotten Realms/Planescape represent political/ideological force as much as divine providence.

Being faithless is like being an anarchist. If your entire life experience tells you that constituted authority is bad, having faith in the gods would be difficult to achieve.

Gann is faithless because whatever divine order the gods have instituted has never really worked out for him, and Safiya's faithlessness is at least partially a result of her apoliticalness. She doesn't care about the power struggles of Thayan wizards and cares about the rivalries of the divine even less.

lol. Making out of sex something special that needs CGIs... and even better earing exp like it is quest or something.
Games need just to have normal fucking sex, rape etc without ANY kind of special treatment. Like you know... in books.

Problem though here is that most of games that are created are mainly from US and US has totally weird system in which sex is something that shouldn't be even mentioned in conversation and god forbid it to show in actual movie or game in other situation than your dynasty style sex scene.

Aaand there is whole AO rating thing in US which totally is death sentence for game because nor Steam nor Walmart and any other bigger retailers will stock game in games part of shop. AO rating means that this game needs to be sold among porno and vibrators part of store.

Which is naturally bullshit because game can earn AO just like that for showing glimse of penis if reviewers (in ESRB) find it "offensive"

Seriously i wait for day in which most of retailers channels salling games will be dead and most of games will go to DD stores. With that there won't be problems with creating parts of DD shop only for AO games.

Looking for a more PnP-like ruleset (feats, spells, abilities, etc.) mod for NWN1.

I think I remember it used to exist, but can't recall the name and can't find it on NWVault off-hand.
Would such mods work in custom modules, by the way? I can't remember how this stuff worked in Aurora.

There was the EMS (Enhanced Magic System) hak, which only worked with modules properly incorporated it, including (for a time) some fairly major ones IIRC (Aielund??). Is that what you were thinking of?

It started out as a more PnP-adherent magic system, but as the author's ego ballooned out of all proportion to his judgement, and he changed all sorts of shit to suit his notions of how PnP "ought to have been", it became more retarded and fucked up with each iteration.

Add to that his utter refusal to document any of the hak's changes, and he quickly went from hero to one of the vault's biggest douches in record time.

Could be (I haven't used it for almost 10 years). But after reading the comments - you're right, it seems pretty broken.

Ah, no matter, vanilla worked well enough for single-player modules. Should be fine to dust off the Hall of Fame as is.

Is there a mod for NWN2 that seriously tones down the sound effects of Evard's Hentai Tentacles/Chilling Tentacles? No matter my sound settings, the bloody things drown out everything else when they're around.

Hmm, I couldn't find anything related to the actual spell effects in 2das and scripts, so I though "fuck it" and toned down the sounds themselves:

Subdued Tentacle Sounds

Contains 3 options:
1. -15 dB (sounds about right to me)
2. -20 dB (in case -15 is still too loud for you)
3. No sounds at all (empty files)

Folder tree is self-explanatory, I think, but in case it confuses anyone: drop what's inside the mod's 'Override' folder into your game's 'Override' folder.
Enjoi.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Since I am on an RPG playing binge of games available through GoG, I have also started NWN. The OC is bland and boring but the game nevertheless reached some popularity due to the modules. Some modules have even attained a status of notoriety because of their content (Dance with Rogues).

So, which mods are good? Be it good at dungeon crawlery (doubtful cause the engine sucks too much to be good for pure dungeon crawling gameplay) or storyfaggery, give me some recommendations for which NWN mods to try out.

Dance with Rogues ruined NWN mods for me. It has writing and gameplay so good that everything else feels meh by comparison.
