Actually, it would have been pretty awesome if you could have sided with the way Super Mutants of Jacobstown would like things to be. Or just getting Marcus to kick ass by your side at the final battle.

Why? Setting up the mainframe takes place before you pull the switch. There is nothing whatsoever to suggest that you only have one choice, after which all further choices are ignored. I understand how using the Archimedes may exclude diverting the energy output to other towns, but that's a different issue.

The Archimedes didn't work and everyone lived happily ever after. So, it's 100% a bug.

I think the Followers guy you talk to after Fantastic tells you that you only have one choice for the plant's energy.

Actually, this maybe a thing with choosing Westside Fremont, since when I picked Full Region following using optimal output, the terminal closed after the choice. At least as much as my memory serves.

Haven't played the game yet, but does the player start with anything (read:any clothes) beyond what he gives you/preorder stuff? If they don't (so your attackers took everything you had as well as the package), it is perfectly sound for the PC to be given clothes.

I'd assume that your old clothes were dirty/blood stained. It would have made more sense if doc had simply given you regular clothes but the vault-suit is kind of tradition so Obsidian weaseled it in. I ditched it 15 seconds in.

There's this quest where you have to stop saboteurs from blowing up the monorail in NV. Due to a bug the thing still exploded even though I disarmed the bomb. I thought that's a pretty cool consequence for failure because it leaves a mark on the world (unlike the Helios station where it doesn't seem to matter where you send the power). Then a few days later I get the message that the monorail has been repaired. Bleh.

I just finished my first playthrough after 72 hours. My last perk was explorer, and god damn, there's a lot of stuff in this game. Excluding the legion stuff, I figure there's at least another 10 hours of content in the game that I didn't touch.

I looked at my map before I stopped last night (up to around Novac at 5 hours, just doing the stupid ghoul quest and looking forward to killing them off), and I seem to have covered nearly half the map already. Is there a lot more in the Northern areas, or are a lot of things just really well-hidden?

and..well not really..as good as you can hide places if you have a compass leading you in their direction.

did you guys alsolose your motivation after reaching lvl 30?
i just fuckin entered the strip :(

any experiences with a lvl cap remover?

Isn't the explosion of the monorail scripted?
I got the quest, then fooled around too much because i didn't know where i needed to go. Then finally i found it but i came too late and the monorail exploded. After that i loaded my old save game and tried it again, this time i arrived there without any hesistation. The monotrail still blew up. The fuck?

the quest is bugged. wiki has the instructions how to solve it properly.

Ended it after 25 hours at I think level 24, a quick look at the wiki does suggest that there's plenty more content. Nearing the end of the power gradient really diminishes my desire to keep going especially in the absence of an especially captivating story. Naturally I had obtained the anti-materiel rifle and T-51b (plus riot shotgun with BEANBAG ROUNDS, anathema to deathclaws and useless against all else).

at level 20 it became clear leveling was too fast for my sorta completionist playthrough, so i used Slower Level Rates mod, 1.5x variant. reached level 30 just a step before the final quest. i wouldn´t recommend slowing the rates further because then there simply wouldn´t be enough quest/location content to take player to max level without lots of additional grinding.
another benefit of slower leveling is that skills go up slower too (obviously), which makes specialization a bit more crucial.

and yeah, i´d probably loose motivation to explore and do more side quests if i´d reached max level too early, even though i really enjoyed the game.
