When I complained that she can only summon prior objects, they told me there was surely more. Well, making her a sword fighter is boring too. That's not "wisdom." Why would I want to play a game about the princess if she's just gonna fight like Link? She should be avoiding combat. A stealth-adventure game, maybe?

Seriously. The wise never fight.

I swear, sometimes it seems like you're on an epic quest to be wrong in every way conceivable.

But as opposed to the courage of Link. Her action should be less direct.

I suspect it will be due to the different mechanics.

At the very least, it does seem like an interesting return to more traditional Zelda styles while keeping some of the ideas from the newer games.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom — Into the Still World, a Journey Continued

Zelda can fight enemies directly by wielding a sword that transforms her into the Swordfighter form, which resembles Link. This form can only be used for a limited time before its energy must be replenished by collecting orbs of energy found in the Still World.
Wow! Well, this looks like a game that'd be perfect Female Codexers!

Looks like alot of fun tbh.

Wonder if it's possible that Tears of the Kingdom took so long to come out with essentially the same Hyrule, many of the same assets as in Breath of the Wild and no meaningful fixes to dungeons and mechanical progression (impacting the world) because they were already shifting to development of the next Zelda.

$400 to $500 is what I'm expecting for the next Switch. Presumably, the two models will offer different amounts of onboard storage. Can't see Nintendo dumping the cart reader and having a digital-only model, especially with backwards compatibility.

Used to really like the Mario and Luigi games as a child so I am considering buying this one when it comes out.

Might be worth the nostalgia at least

Oh. I wondered why I kept getting "Ryujinx has encountered an error... trying to get information from GitHub" before playing Breath of the Wild the last two days.

Nintendo is crushing emulators because the Switch 2 will cost $400+ despite having 10 years old hardware.

Yes, that's what people are saying. That they are doing this so late in Switch's life because the next Nintendo will have similar architecture and they don't want pirates able to play it so soon.

One of the devs said "they" came to rip_in_peri_peri's door and told him to desist or face legal consequences. I'm imagining literally Mario at his door, but probably just lawyers.

I don't blame Nintendo for going after the emulators. These emulators essentially give people the opportunity to play enhanced PC ports of Switch games – for free. With PlayStation and Xbox PC enhanced ports, people have to buy the games from Steam, so Sony and Microsoft still get something back. But with Switch emulation, if you can get the keys and firmware without buying a Switch, which is possible from what I understand, then Nintendo gets nothing.

In other words, people can play Nintendo's multi-million dollar games for free, and Nintendo loses out on both hardware and software revenue. Why wouldn't Nintendo want to stop that? It'd be bizarre if Nintendo just sat back and ignored it. I also think Nintendo knows that Switch 2 is unlikely to top Switch 1 lifetime hardware sales, which makes every hardware and software unit sold even more important for Nintendo's next gen strategy.

Nintendo will have more portable competition this time round, too, with Steam Deck and possible portable offerings from Sony and Microsoft, which is why Nintendo will want to ensure that anything that results in a loss of hardware and software revenue is ideally eliminated. Unlike the Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo's main business is video games. Microsoft can lose its video game business and still survive. The same can't be said for Nintendo.

Nintendo's also going after YouTube accounts that post footage of Nintendo games running on emulators.

Maybe they should release more powerful hardware that isn't easily emulatable from day 1.

To people who pretend piracy doesn't affect sales, I'm the proof that it does. I did buy Switch games until I realized how well they emulate, did buy plenty of movies until I gained access to a private tracker.

Maybe they should release more powerful hardware that isn't easily emulatable from day 1.
If it bothers them so much. But I bet piracy doesn't make that much difference in their sales, bet making a console that can't be emulated for a long while isn't worth the cost of cutting-edge graphics.

It's true the weak hardware makes the platform easy to emulate, but the “doing a lot with less tech” thing has been a core part of Nintendo's strategy since the GameCube days, and I don't see them moving away from it.

The thing is Nintendo doesn't even need cutting-edge graphics like, say, Sony does. There are no Gran Turismo, Uncharted, or COD equivalents in Nintendo's library. All of Nintendo's in-house games have stylised, non-realistic visuals, so having a powerful system makes even less sense. Only Nintendo can get away with having a low power system.
