Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
I see that they have backwards compatibility, but not for all games. At best I will buy a used one, like I did with the OG Switch, and OG PS4.
Do they have a list somewhere or something?
No. It just said that some OG Switch games might not be supported, or have performance issues. No list.

it's presumed most games will work and they just have that there to cover their ass for some shitty 3rd party indie game that doesnt work for whatever reason, also games that rely heavily on the joycons or connecting to them like ring fit adventure or LABO one would assume

Supposedly? What, you think the Switch sales figures are some conspiracy?
Supposedly, because up until this generation, Nintendo had both a handheld and a home console. In terms of just raw units of consoles they made, the Wii/DS generation sold way, way more units.

It would seem to be a better deal for Nintendo, their handheld console combo sells like a Nintendo handheld but moves games like a console. Their Switch games sell vastly more than their DS games despite the DS being the better seller. They also don’t have two different divisions developing hardware anymore.

It's also priced like a console, not a hand held.

I look forward to the quasi-mouse usage on the controllers. At least, that's what I hope they're aiming toward.

Dual mouses with analog sticks.

It does look like they were showing of a joycon mouse function. It’d be funny if they showed off a new SimCity to show off the mouse function. But they probably just show it off with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

I wonder if they will sell an official pro joycon akin to the Hori Split Pad Pro. I kinda expected it to just come with bigger controllers this time, but I guess they have to wring out that extra peripheral money. Trying to use the d-pad on the regular joycon especially cramped my hands

The problem is, how many of those handheld gamers from the previous generation bought the Switch? Sony and MicroSoft probably should have had their handhelds announced before the Switch 2, but the Switch 2 being larger is a negative if you're looking for a handheld.

Fortunately or unfortunately, Sony and Microsoft are SO incompetent and corrupted by woke retards, that Nintendo could release the same console and still win.
After all... How many exclusive games does the PS5 have again? 4?

I was thinking Civ7 as well, or similar strategy games, which have long been a thorn in the side of consoles.

Showing a new console without releasing a single fucking spec was totally Nintendo. Or specs for normies: ooh bigger pew pew joystickos that roll on my desk and a larger screen for all the aging short-sighted paedos playing Animal Crossing.

All very fine stuff, but can we finally play TotK above slideshow level of performance? Or will I still have to emulate it on a regular PC?

Given the Switch sales, probably most of them. There’s not really a way to frame the success of the Switch as a negative for Nintendo like you seem to be trying to do, it’s their biggest hit in ages. They’ve never had a system that sold as good as the Switch that also moved as much software as the Switch. The DS moved more units during its lifetime, (over 15 years) but it didn’t move games like the Switch... Switch Animal Crossing sold almost four times as much as the DS version, the best selling DS game would be the fifth best selling Switch game.

Sony and Microsoft seem to have no idea what they’re doing. They should have had answers to the Switch back when they were announcing the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Anyone with a brain could’ve seen the 2017 Switch would dominate them since it was already dominating the more powerful PS4. But Sony and Microsoft just kept on truckin’ like it was the Wii/Wii U days where they’d say Nintendo wasn’t actually competition because they’re doing their own little weird thing over there. I still can’t believe Sony didn’t parlay their dominance of the market with the PS4 into a handheld PS4 and just hold off on the PS5 until like 2024/2025; there should have been a big gear shift on their part when the Switch started beating them.

What's funny to me is that it didn't cause any ripples in the console market, but it created waves in the PC hardware space. And then M$ and Sony were like: Oh... maybe we should do that thing.

Pandemic lockdown and having a functional, mature eShop from the birth of the console on has a lot to do with Switch game sales. The Switch is the first Nintendo console where eShop sales beat physical media, if I remember right. The fact that physical media never goes on sale and the eShop for the Switch has some pretty damned good sales probably helped push it's sales ahead. The 3DS didn't sell as well as the DS did, and the DS never had an eShop except for the DSi. I think the DSi didn't have a full eShop either.

Sony and Microsoft seem to have no idea what they’re doing.
This seems to be the case. There's a video that just dropped a day or so ago talking about Sony and the Vita. They basically released the Vita and then kind of sacrificed it due to some issues with meeting demand for their custom memory cards and such, so they kind of ignored the Vita and concentrated on pushing the PS4. That's the really short summary, but it highlights two pretty big screw ups right there.

Well, ignoring the Vita and pushing the PS4 wasn’t the wrong move. The Vita was a flop, and the PS4 (aided by Microsoft fucking up worse than Sony going into the PS3) destroyed the dominance Microsoft had over the console market during the 360 era. But when the Switch arrived and started outselling the PS4, Sony should have read the room and saw the future was having a handheld system that also functioned as a home console. The PS4 was still on a roll when the Switch came out, the Pro and Slim versions had just come out the year before, the PS4 had just started to see some big hits sales wise with games; it would’ve been so easy for Sony to stall their too early anyways next gen plans and come out with a PlayStation 4 Portable to challenge the Switch. But they didn’t, they stupidly moved on and got beat by a system less powerful than their PS4 because consumers liked the functionality of a home console they could take on the go... even if that go was still within the home while something else played on the TV.

And like what, Microsoft was forcing Sony into the next generation? Microsoft had so thoroughly fucked itself with the Xbox One that publishers would’ve stayed with Sony on the PS4 and it’s 110 million plus systems sold in 2020. In fact they still largely stayed with the PS4 when the PS5 released. It’s only fairly recently that publishers seem to be moving on from the PS4; although I wonder if that’s more a Sony thing than publishers thinking there isn’t a user base there anymore...there was that news last year that half of Sony’s 118 million PSN users are from PS4.

It is funny that fucking Valve of all companies was the first to even try and have an answer to the Switch. After the failure of their Steam Box a few years before, I’d imagine Valve saw the Switch pulling their Steam indie business away and figured that was the way to go if they want to get into the console business...which Valve very much seems to want to do.

Although I doubt Microsoft and Sony seemingly changing their tune had much to do with the waves it made it the PC space. It’s just this far out now you can’t look at the numbers and pretend Nintendo isn’t competition anymore, they’re selling more systems, and they’re selling way more games. They’re own internal numbers, like three quarters of PS5 owners play on Performance mode instead of Fidelity mode probably also tell them they fucked up and backed the wrong horse.

You also got to imagine that Microsoft and Sony are looking at the Switch like: Nintendo is making lower budget games than us, and still outselling use...what the fuck? The best selling Sony PS4 game is Spider-Man, seems to be the best selling PS4 game there’s specific numbers on... got out sold by Super Mario Party. And Super Mario Party is the 9th best selling game on the Switch. And you damn well fucking know Nintendo didn’t spend anywhere close to what Sony did on their Spider-Man game making Super Mario Party for the fuckin’ Switch. That Spider-Man game cost like $90 million to make according to that leak. Spider-Man more than made its money, it those returns weren’t what Nintendo go making a Switch Mario Party game.

I assume that means all games are supported but not "enhanced" because consoletards are too dumb to use a graphical settings menu/resolution slider so they're at the mercy of patches. Same situation as Bloodborne on PS4 not getting enhanced for PS4 Pro/PS5.

Not only is Nintendo vastly outselling both MS and Sony in games, but it's doing so while spending less on development and charging a higher price for longer. Nintendo is notorious for maintaining premium pricing on their games long after release. Mario kart 8 still sells a shit load of copies every year.

I've always found the modern race to the bottom sales strategies to be interesting in the sense that it's like shooting yourself in the foot. Meanwhile, Nintendo's like: You want this? Here's the price. Eat shit.

Even their "big" sales on older titles around Christmas or whatever are in the realm of like 30% tops.
