Hardly any information can be taken from this trailer. Only realistic response is "OK"

It's alright I guess. I would have preferred if they kept the 7 inch screen. The only benefit I can see from this is the larger joycons that will be more comfortable out-of-the-box for adult hands. But we already had some decent 3rd party solutions for that and I bet they will still be preferred over Switch 2 joycons.
Switch joycons are brutal with how tiny and delicate they feel. Part of the reason I rarely play it in portable mode: I find the Pro Controller or third party variant basically mandatory. Wife uses the joycons because she doesn't care.

I don't think I could have ever played portable mode without one of these.

A case that beefs it up a bit?

I'm using a nitro deck

No doubt they'll make more of these kind of things for the switch 2. But it's bulky enough for a handheld with the 7 inch screen. I just imagine an 8 inch screen with a nitro deck we're getting closer to steam deck proportions.

It's only a slight beef up but I'll take the increase in size if it means I can have that curved controller feel.

Never heard of a Nitro Deck until now that thing looks cool.

Trailer is very light on any info. I don't understand why did they beef up the size of the connector of JoyCons, and made it all sticking out.

Size bump is not too bad, but I actually liked that joycons are small on Switch, as they worked really well for my kid from 4 to 6 yr old. Now she's on pro controller of course.

Looking forward to what launch games are going to be on it. If there's new Mario Kart, then it's day 1 purchase.

That new Mario Kart isn't promissing, it looks slighty better than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which was a WiiU port.

Maybe it's a cross gen game?

I can get why they went with showing a new Mario Kart, Mario Kart 8 is the fifth best selling game of all time, but they probably should’ve went with something that just seeing it clicks what an improvement it is visually over what The Switch can do. Like side by side the improvement is obvious, but just looking at it in isolation I’m guessing most people just remember Mario Kart 8 Deluxe looking the same.

It’ll be interesting seeing the third party support rollout for the big Switch 2 Direct. This is the first time Nintendo has gone into a new console where they’re dominating all other competition, and actually selling games. (The Wii did outsell the Xbox 360 and PS3 but nobody bought games for it) I’d imagine third party support for the Switch 2 will be like something that hasn’t been seen on a Nintendo system since the SNES. Third party publishers really dropped the ball with the Switch, and I’ve got to think they don’t let that happen again; especially with how bad things have been selling on the PS5.

What's the point of making it even larger than before? If they don't improve grip and screen ppi will remain the same or higher, it's no use. Like, switch 1 is already large enough but grip makes my hands sore after less than an hour of play, and text oftentimes is too small because developers don't bother with optimizing their UIs for switch.

Buy Nintendo games and exclusives on a nintendo console, avoid the rest. It's that simple.

I don't know about all those Mario games, but in stuff like Unicorn Overlord or Fire Emblem it's not much better.

Play the game on a TV, nintendo consoles are cheap chinese hardware since the Wii.

Looks better obviously, but some people have noticed it will probably also have more karts on the track as well:

Bigger screen is a plus, the joycons are probably going to get destroy in record time and numbers, and I dislike the monochrome buttons (they could have at least colored the letters inside them).
Interested in the backwards compatibility and DLSS image reconstruction/frame generation from a technical standpoint, but will probably never buy the console itself (never owned a console after SNES, despite liking Nintendo as developers).

The Switch is the first console from Nintendo since Mario Kart premiered that didn't have it's own Mario Kart. That still amazes me. Supposedly their best selling console ever, and they no longer had to develop for a home console and a handheld, yet they couldn't produce a version of one of their best selling games for it.

The bigger problem is they made the female connection on the controller. I'd say that's going to be a lot of fun for people to clean out.

Nintendo has been reigning as the "handheld" console company since the GameBoy. The Switch is no where as portable as the previous handhelds. The Switch Lite is okay with it's size, but it's kind of retarded they pulled the TV out capability from it. The DS Lite didn't have anything removed in terms of capability from the DS, so I'm not sure why Nintendo felt the need to do that with the Switch Lite.

There's rumors that MicroSoft and Sony are both looking to get back in to the handheld market, and Nintendo makes the Switch 2 less portable than the Switch? Also, Nintendo's "sequel consoles" don't tend to do as well as the original. And the original Switch really didn't offer a Hell of a lot to begin with other than Nintendo exclusive games. About the only secondary thing is that it offered some releases that otherwise were home exclusive titles playable on the Switch Lite.

Don't jizz on your controller?

The space has been changing and I think they may be aiming at criticisms / competition in the PC space with the Steam Deck and the various other handheld PCs like the Lenovo Go and the ROG Ally.

If the size becomes a problem, they can always pull a Switch Lite out and offer something with a smaller screen, depending on whether or not they can keep the internals the same.

Who's going to make the next Mario game, the special needs team or the rainbow team? Was Mario actually Mexican all along? How long did it take Samus Aran to transition? Stay tuned to find out.

Supposedly? What, you think the Switch sales figures are some conspiracy? Although it’s not there best seller, it’s still 8 million under the DS. There’s no mystery to it. The Wii U flopped, so they brought over a bunch of Wii U games to the Switch, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe (which does look better than the Wii U version) was one of them, and it sold extremely well... at this point the Deluxe Switch version has sold 64.27 million copies. Why the fuck would a publisher make another version when they’ve got one that’s selling so well? The real question is why didn’t they pump at more DLC for their biggest hit game ever.

I see that they have backwards compatibility, but not for all games. At best I will buy a used one, like I did with the OG Switch, and OG PS4.
